@dudsville , yes, I did like it, but still not sure it is worth even the reduced price. It is thin silk, very susceptable to any stains (especially with me as I am so clumsy) and it is nice but not super special. I might be more tempted if it was under the £300 mark. I would ideally have liked it to have short or capped sleeves as the cut of the arm is fairly narrow from the front.

@TempleofZoom , re the new style pinnafore, I agree, not sure it is such a good shape for those of us who have bigger busts, although I say this without having tried it on. It does look lovely on others but not sure it would flatter my figure.

I tried on the gathered sleeve shore gingham dress in a small and a medium. Definitely a medium for us size 12s: I would never have got the small off if I had pulled it fully down over my body.

The colour block organic poplin dress was lovely in a medium and I could possibly have sized down too. As reviews have said about the length, I concur, it was very long on my 5ft 5 frame.

I also tried the wave striped sleeveless sweater in green. I went with a large as I didn't want it too fitted but I didn't find it very flattering on me.

I also tried the smocked organic cotton gingham shirt in the S/M. It is a lovely fit, very flattering but I have earlier versions of this shirt and that, plus the colours not being the best for me, stopped me in my tracks.

So, I left without buying anything! My visit was slightly hampered by a DH waiting outside the shop with our puppy, plus my promise to reduce spending on clothes 😀.

lordloveadog · 06/03/2023 09:49

That's all very useful intel, @ToastCosILoveIt! Not an exciting trip for you, but puppy!!

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/03/2023 10:16

@lord, yes, puppy is great fun. I am assuming from your name that you are partial to a dog or two?! Another reason to think about that dress - it wouldn't go well with puppy paws constantly jumping up at it 😀

I went instore to try on the v neck cotton jersey dress which is now sold out online in the medium. They didn't have any in store so I couldn't even check it out for style and shape but the helpful sales assistant did track one down in Notting Hill and I have ordered it over the phone this morning. I think the styling of that dress with the black Olas looks super cool and is a look I will want to (try to) emmulate when it comes - although I don't have the black Olas (yet), only the tan and olive ones 😊

TerrierOrTerror · 06/03/2023 10:17

I lived in leggings and sweatshirts for pretty much the first year of my dogs life. However she has a terrible jumping up habit and I'm pleased to report Toast dresses survive very well!

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/03/2023 10:28

@TerrierOrTerror , another Toast and dog lover! Puppy is five months and, touch wood, no article of clothing has been damaged yet and yes, lots of Toast dresses and trousers have been tested!

Laska2Meryls · 06/03/2023 10:43

Are we allowed puppy photos on a clothing thread ?
I am still away in Portugal in the van, back to UK next week (bah) but I have several things in my basket that I may order to cheer myself up!!
Hmm looks like Imay have missed out on the cotton jersey dress though.. Ah well they may restock ..

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/03/2023 11:20

@Laska2Meryls , I have sometimes panic bought and then found they have restocked an item. I was just particularly after this dress so tracked it down, postage is free from a store if over £125 and, let's face it, that is most of Toast...

Puppy photos on a clothing thread? Well, if the owner is wearing Toast, I don't see why not 😀

Noeggsontoast · 06/03/2023 11:54

@ToastCosILoveIt many thanks for your detailed report on the silk dip dye dress, but you really got me when you said the word "puppy"! They're such delightful time wasters and I'm very envious. I am longing to add another puppy to our pack - we have two dogs. I would love to see a puppy photo.

I have purchased the Bryn dress and flat front denim trousers, hopefully will be here by Wednesday. I doubt either of these would be in any upcoming sale.

I have a black tie event in a couple of weeks and found a bargain of a beautiful dress from Jigsaw reduced to £50 from £200. It puts the Toast silk dress into context for me and I have relegated it to my sales wish list.

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/03/2023 12:37

@Noeggsontoast , "delightful time wasters" is very apt!

You have put the dip silk dress into even more perspective for me and £400 is madness on an unlined dress. The sales assistant told me that someone had come in earlier to try it on and was so delighted when told that it was £100 less that she bought it and used the £100 "saved" to put towards a pair of Toast trousers. If you have the money, their prices can make you begin to lose perspective. Time for me to pull back and buy small but mindfully.

Stoic123 · 06/03/2023 13:06

3 Toast items arrived. Only one is new season so little intel I'm afraid.

Flat fronted jeans in Clay (new)- have the denim and love the style. If they do other colours in future, will go on the list. Material is reasonably light so good for all bar the warmest summer days. Colour a bit dull but it seemed to go with every top I tried it on with. Bit of a '70s vibe going on (remember my mother having a very similar pair). Advise size 1 down from normal. Keeping.

Flat fronted cotton twill trousers in Harvest. Really useful weight and colour. Advise size 1-2 down from normal. Will wear a lot. Keeping.

Alpaca jumper in Plum. Relaxed sizing so size down a bit. Soft and cosy (like a hug in a jumper) . Not sure I need this but might not have the heart to return. Mulling over but inclined to keep.

Countmeout · 06/03/2023 13:24

No new Toast here yet but I received the Whistles khaki sandals I linked up thread. Unfortunately for my bank balance they’re just what I wanted. The khaki is quite dark, 3 adjustable straps, lovely soft leather. They add an inch to my height which is most welcome, I can see these going with a lot of my Toast summer wardrobe. I have the Ora in black but these have a slightly lighter appearance despite being sort of weighty/chunky. I just wish it was sandal weather as it’s turned cold again here this week .

Happy to report that the v-neck dress is a keeper.
www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/v-neck-cotton-jersey-dress-washed-black

The jersey is a lovely thick cotton which hangs well and doesn't cling. I've forever tugging at/adjusting jersey normally but not this.

I went for a large which is probably what I'd've gone for pre size changes in this style. It's possibly slightly small (pockets stick out slightly) but it was sold out in XL and I'm at the heavier end of my weight range right now so should lose a bit before summer.

Arm holes are absolutely fine. No hint of a bra band.

Love it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/03/2023 18:39

@agnesmartin , really pleased to hear postive feedback on the dress that is winging its way to me from the Notting Hill branch. Do you think I have undercooked it by opting for the size medium being a busty high street 12?

The reviews on the dress are all so good, hoping it will be a spring/summer staple.

agnesmartin · 06/03/2023 18:46

M would be absolutely fine, I'd say. I'm a busty size 16 atm and it's lovely - but will be equally lovely (but more wafty) when I'm back to 14 (🤞) for the summer!

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2023 04:58

@ToastCosILoveIt @agnesmartin ive just ordered this too as a couple more showed up online, pleased as I’ve been stalking it for a while. Do you think it would be able to be shortened? It looks very long on the model and I’m imagining it could be ankle length on me.

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2023 05:00

Re. The jumpsuit in the same style, I did manage to get it on and off without undoing the buttons but it was a bit awkward. Think I am returning it because I felt it didn’t really lend itself to wearing something underneath which it what I had planned. T-shirts just looked messy and didn’t sit right.

dudsville · 07/03/2023 08:00

I've just realised I've made something up, with the returns period 28 days for full price, 14 for sales, can we return after that period for store credit?

agnesmartin · 07/03/2023 08:43

@Snowyowl78 It was a flattering length on me, longer than midi but above ankle. I'm 5ft7.

I've not touched a sewing machine since school so not the one to ask re adjustments. My sense is the fabric could handle it but I'd be concerned about the skirt shape. But I know nothing!

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2023 08:54

@agnesmartin im only 5’3, I wouldn’t do it myself though I’m clueless, haha. I wondered if the skirt might make it a bit difficult, hmm. I will ask the lady I usually take stuff to. Cheers!

@dudsville i don’t think you can get credit after this time but if online it might be worth seeing if they’ll still process the returns label and then I’d chance it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/03/2023 09:07

@Snowyowl78 , I will let you know when it arrives! I am 5ft 5 so will estimate what it might look like on a person a couple of inches shorter. Re shortening, I agree with @agnesmartin , it might impact on the lovely shape that the skirt part has and which, I think, is part of what makes it look so flattering (judging by the reviews online).

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2023 09:08

@ToastCosILoveIt yeah that’s what I thought too. I’ll see when it turns up. Thanks!

dudsville · 07/03/2023 18:31

Thanks @Snowyowl78 , i must have dreamed that!

AFingerofFudge · 08/03/2023 08:31

I cant get beyond the home page this morning- does this mean anything exciting?!

Countmeout · 08/03/2023 10:36

Sadly not @AFingerofFudge . Mine’s fine.

AFingerofFudge · 08/03/2023 10:44

Yeah I got all excited but a few minutes later it was working again. Ah well, it would be too much to ask that any sale starts on my day off while I'm sitting in the hairdressers waiting for the dye to kick in Grin
