How to look good without makeup?

jaffacakes16 · 24/02/2023 19:58

Any tips? I get lash lifts but quite sporadically and they don’t seem to last long but do look good at the start. Anything else along these lines to make me look presentable with little effort!

I don't personally do these things (I definately don't look good without make up lol) but I think a tan really helps the face look good without foundation (fake tan or real), decent extensions, eyebrows micro bladed or tinted depending on how much hair you have on your eyebrows. But it probably depends if you want a more natural 'no make up' look then you might not be so keen on these suggestions

qwertyy1234 · 24/02/2023 20:17

That was meant to say eyelash extensions

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 24/02/2023 20:22

Getting out for a walk in the fresh air when you have no make up on doesn't half do your face the world of good- bonus points if it's fresh sea air!
The more I get outdoors the better I feel about my face with no makeup on.
Beyond that just dyeing my eyebrows and eyelashes, and sometimes use some gel or cream to smooth my brows into shape.
And a lip scrub! Even just an old lip balm then wipe your lips with a towel then apply a better lip balm on.

I'm way too lazy to do my make up and work stupid hours so its quite normal to have a video call at 6am just as it is 9pm so to have make up seems faff with all the constant touch ups .... So!
Spray tan every 3 weeks
Eyelash extensions every 2 weeks
Brow wax and tint every 3 weeks
Weekly blow dry
Botox every 3 months
As well as a good skin care regime
It sounds vain but I know I can jump on a call and be consistent in how I look, I think I'm not pretty, far from naturally pretty but the constant maintenance means I at least look ok without makeup

Scalessayeek · 24/02/2023 20:37

I’m having eyebrows micro bladed soon and that combined with a lash lift and a bit of cc cream does wonders. I was tinting/laminating my eyebrows myself so now will be doing my eyelashes to save some money.

Hyaluronic fake tan drops are a game changer for me. I am mega pale, and they really help.

Plus microbladed brows. Not full on scouse brow, but enough to frame the face and look done.

I also take 5 minutes to style my hair and this makes a massive difference.

LadyOfTheFliessssss · 24/02/2023 20:43

Any of these

Eyebrow threading
A good go with a jade roller that's been in the fridge
Drinking lots of water
Steam on the face
Going over blackheads with one of those little spot remover tools
Evening primrose oil overnight
Hyaluronic acid serum
A face mask that's been in the fridge

LadyOfTheFliessssss · 24/02/2023 20:44

Ooh, a tight ponytail. Although that can go either way in terms of results

jaffacakes16 · 24/02/2023 20:50

I am loving these suggestions thank you! To those using fake tan on face any recommendations for pasty skin? I’m using tretoin at the min so have to be careful about sun exposure.

I have really greasy hair if not washed daily so that doesn’t help matters when it comes to looking presentable.

@WhyCantPeopleBeNice when you get a blow dry how long does it last? I find as soon as my hair is slept on it looks rubbish.

@Scalessayeek interested to know what lash lift you use and how it turns out. I’m tempted to try diy.

I find a face mask and a headscarf helps. Smile

jaffacakes16 · 24/02/2023 20:52

@FayCarew sometimes I miss face masks for this reason!

@jaffacakes16 blow dry lasts for the week, it maybe room 6-8 weeks to get it to go a full week though.
It's curled, so first 3 days looks ace, then by day 4-5 I plait it to give some wave back and then it's in a ponytail
BUT I also have super long hair extensions, when it was shorter the curls held all week. I find sleeping with a silk hair cap really helps and at a push can now go 1.5 weeks between blow drys

NoraLuka · 24/02/2023 20:53

Yes to going outside or doing exercise.

Hair and eyebrows in a style you’re happy with.

Drink enough water.

WhyCantPeopleBeNice · 24/02/2023 20:54

Maybe room should read maybe took - from washing my hair myself to just having it done at the hairdresser's

Twillow · 24/02/2023 20:56

Self tan drops in your moisuriser. Otherwise, I don't wear makeup at all as it makes me look like a drag queen for some reason 😂but I do get taken for 10 years younger than I actually am.

tealandteal · 24/02/2023 20:57

I found good skincare to be the number one thing. I use Face Theory products which are the only thing that have ever made a difference. I mix fake tan drops in to my normal moisturiser, just the face in the winter and whole body in summer. A good sunscreen every day and eyebrows waxed. I’ve neve tried any else eyebrow wise but tempted.

Nothingbuttheglory · 24/02/2023 21:04

Whitening toothpaste.

FayCarew · 24/02/2023 21:05

I don't leave the house without one or a headcovering, unless it is almost dark.
If it's daylight, I wear sunglasses but they tend to fog because of the mask.

Seriously? In my case, eyelash dye and a bit of fake tan help a lot.
Hair worn in a way I'm happy with, might need to cover the grey.
A bit of tinted lipsalve

FayCarew · 24/02/2023 21:09

The whitening toothpaste helps a lot. Coffee stains can be stubborn, so I occasionally use a smoker's toothpaste, and my teeth look better than after using normal whitening toothpaste.

Allthismidnighttalking · 24/02/2023 21:09

Skinny tan face drops are great and not tested on animals 🙂

doadeer · 24/02/2023 21:58

Fresh air, eating well are always good for you. Plus having well hydrated skin always looks more glowy.

I do think to some extent it's relearning to see your face without makeup. I don't wear any most days, I do wear a little cc cream and maybe some Jones Road balm on cheekbones. But I feel this is.my real face now... Not the face with makeup. It's just take a few years to accept.

Oh and eye lash extensions always flattering!

WillowBeeT · 24/02/2023 22:31

Just don’t wear makeup.
Drink lots of water.
Don’t care what anyone thinks.

largeprintagathachristie · 24/02/2023 22:50

Hmmm, quite a few micro bladed brows on this thread. I need to look into this.

declutteringmymind · 25/02/2023 08:54
