How to look good without makeup?

jaffacakes16 · 24/02/2023 19:58

Any tips? I get lash lifts but quite sporadically and they don’t seem to last long but do look good at the start. Anything else along these lines to make me look presentable with little effort!

Stop caring. Channel your inner confidence or fake it until you make it

TrinnySmith · 25/02/2023 09:18

Posture is important.
blusher, natural lipstick, bit of eyebrow pencil

FayCarew · 25/02/2023 09:21

@TrinnySmith , that is not no makeup.

Posture is definitely a factor, as is muscle tone

Burnamer · 25/02/2023 09:22

Revitalash.
It takes a couple of months but it is so worth it. Now when I gave lash tint/ lift it last and looks great.
Also Botox/ filler.

Are those not … make up? 😉😀

Cloudhopping · 25/02/2023 09:35

The lengths that people go to to 'look good with minimal effort'. Micro blading/injecting chemicals into the face etc-so much effort and so much money.

PuppyMonkey · 25/02/2023 09:37

Spray tan every 3 weeks
Eyelash extensions every 2 weeks
Brow wax and tint every 3 weeks
Weekly blow dry
Botox every 3 months
As well as a good skin care regime

That doesn’t sound particularly “lazy” TBF.Confused

Just don’t wear makeup.
Drink lots of water.
Don’t care what anyone thinks.

This.

Stop caring so much, and work on your confidence in who you are naturally. You are actually fine as you are and don't need to microblade your eyebrows to look acceptable😄

(I know this sounds flippant but it isn't really - I know it's hard - but if you can just care less, life is so much easier!)

JasmineInHerHair · 25/02/2023 09:50

It's very individual because we all have different things we like to enhance or disguise.
You need to look at your own bare face and assess it then get medical grade skin care products or procedures for any problems you might have.

I would look at what make up products you always use and why you use them then see how you can fix the issue so you can go without.

This is where if you can't live without mascara, dying your eyelashes or curling them is beneficial or if you can't live without foundation, fixing skin issues instead of masking them.

Personally, stain free healthy teeth and great hair (clean, volume, healthy, shiny) with good healthy skin is hard to beat. There is also an element of just getting used to seeing your natural face in the mirror more often. This happened to many of us during lockdowns where we wore less make up and got accustomed to more bare faces whereas before no make up conjured up concerned comments of: are you ok? late night? more bare faces reset the expectations some how about how blushed or tanned or wide awake we women actually look.

Good skincare products, particularly serum and moisturiser. Groomed eyebrows. Lip balm. Ideally all of that after a shower as the increased heat/blood flow helps your skin look fresher and glowy.

For minimal make up, I focus on my eyes as I feel ‘looking tired’ makes me look crap. So, I’d go for curled lashes, mascara and possible a quick smear of neutral eyeshadow and/or some dark brown kohl in my upper waterline with a tiny flick in the outer corner of my eye.

SeriouslyLTB · 25/02/2023 09:55

Drunk elephant O-bloos Rosi drops in moisturiser are great. There’s a bronzing one too I use in summer.

Typography also do some great ones.

SeriouslyLTB · 25/02/2023 09:56

Oh, also I had my eyebrows tattooed (not micro bladed as I prefer natural look) and that was a game changer!

But that is make up….

Ooh, a tight ponytail. Although that can go either way in terms of results

I believe that's known as a Croydon facelift.

Dontsayyouloveme · 25/02/2023 10:47

Oh god…. The comments about not caring what you look like have started already… 🙄 the OP did not ask how to not care how they looked

CeeceeBloomingdale · 25/02/2023 10:48

Be hydrated, moisturise and drink plenty of water, have groomed brows, use lip balm. Use a face cloth to get rid of dead skin on face and lips. Smile and be confident. Have clean hair and dress well.

AnotherFuckingUsername · 25/02/2023 10:52

Soft focus settings on Teams/Zoom!

Ensure camera isn't up close - I set mine away so it's my top half, not just head and shoulders, on screen. It's what people would see if in an office meeting with me, afterall.

Also - glasses. Even if balance lenses in - they are a barrier between viewer and myself so provide cover for days that I'm wearing no/less make up.

Also wear lippy/coloured lipgloss to distract!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 25/02/2023 10:55

It’s funny because I rarely groom my eyebrows (they’re quite a good shape naturally anyway) but do sometimes use brow pencil or brown eyeshadow on them.

I don’t like eyelash tints to replace mascara.

I also found the last time I mixed Clarins
tanning drops into my moisturiser it stained my hands!

For no makeup look I prefer maybe a touch of concealer if blemishes, Clinique chubby stick on lips or a tinted lip gloss.

TellSomeoneElse · 25/02/2023 11:01

I always look my best when I do the following (altho just some of them make a good difference!);
Lash extensions - massive difference but expensive
Brow wax shape and tint
Gradual tanner
Really good skincare generally
Drinking lots of water!!
Clean, tidy hair
Whitening toothpaste / professional whitening
Being a bit slimmer than I am right now 🤣

JasmineInHerHair · 25/02/2023 11:02

Definitely the right hair colour, haircut and eyeglasses shape and colour frame help a lot. I have a pair of eyeglasses where without any make up I feel really pretty in them and they hide my eyebags. The frame colour flatters my skin tone and the shape of the frame has an uplifting effect on my face.
In another pair I need blusher and eye make up otherwise I look like I gave up on life. It's weird I never expected eyeglasses to have this impact but the right pair really makes your naked face look better.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 25/02/2023 11:10

@UsernameNotAvailableNow can you recommend any hyaluronic face tan drops? Thanks!

MyLittlePonyWellies · 25/02/2023 11:19

Agree with things like exercise, water, sleep, no alcohol. I need to follow my own advice here!

I struggle maintaining lash extensions tbh. It's a lot less faffy for me to just use mascara.

I'm definitely going to start fake tanning again though after reading this. I feel so much better when I'm not completely pale

UsernameNotAvailableNow · 25/02/2023 13:26

@AtLeastThreeDrinks I use these ones. I am PALE and use 2 drops twice a week and it really takes the edge off the dead look. I use them in the morning so that I can still use my retinol at night. They don't smell and after 5/10 minutes I can put my makeup on as usual.

Healthy diet, rainbow coloured fruit and veg, healthy oils.
Water.
Walk / jog / run in fresh air and sunshine every day if possible.
Moisturise. Even old fashioned Nivea will keep the elements at bay in winter.
Multi vitamin and mineral.
Clear mascara for brows.

Changingnametime · 25/02/2023 13:39

I’m taken aback by the tan/fake tan comments. I think most people look worse with a tan, so that would not be on my list.
