I've caught the ear piercing bug and can't decide what to get done next. I currently have 3 lobe on my left and 4 lobe and tragus done on my right. Looking for inspiration.
Please show me your beautiful ears ☺️

Looks fabulous @SaltanVinegar love the jewellery too. I wish my lobes were as nicely spaced as yours

SaltanVinegar · 07/12/2023 15:43

Ah, thank you @MintIcecreams . That’s the good side, the lobes on my right ear are too close together, thanks to getting 2 of them at Claire’s before I knew better 😬

Swiftbushome · 07/12/2023 16:48

It looks GREAT! You must be really pleased 🙂

Thank you, I am! Here’s to them healing easily 🤞🏻

Swiftbushome · 09/12/2023 17:27

Ok weird one. My more recent piercings are all fine but I was wearing a slightly more chunky pair of huggies in my first lobes than I'm used to. I didn't think they were heavy but I guess maybe they were a bit. I did a circuits class at the gym today that was quite jumpy and bouncy and my left ear was stinging a bit so I decided mid class I wouldn't wear that particular pair of earrings in the gym again. Anyway I looked in the mirror in the changing room afterwards and my earlobe was totally covered in blood. Yuck. These are holes I had pierced as a kid. Probably about 30 / 35 years ago. Obviously I cleaned up my ear and I've switched back to skinnier, lighter earrings now. But should I worry? I squirted a bit of my new piercing saline solution on. It's not likely to get infected is it? The earrings I've currently got in there now are just gold plated huggies.

Ooh this might be the place to ask! How the hell do i undo this/take it out? I had it done about 3 years ago and can't undo it.
It has a little Jewell in the hoop but there doesn't seem to be any way to open it. Excuse towel On head and red ear lobe!

FunkyMonks · 09/12/2023 23:05

@Swiftbushome your ear should be fine you've likely just teared it slightly hence the blood I would keep an eye on it and as you've done switched to something smaller and not so heavy.
@HumourReplacementTherapy looks like a captive bead ring I think your suppose to pull the jewel part out but could be wrong best option is to go into a piercing place and ask them for help or removal.

I am a bit late to the party but here’s mine! Just waiting for the forward helix to heal then want to start on the other ear with a rook and mid helix, then ideally a triple forward helix … Only started the cartilage piercings 6 months ago so very pleased with how they have all healed.

@Bearsinmotion looking fab. I’m 10 weeks into my first Tragus. Once it’s healed I’m looking at the daith in the same ear (don’t sleep on that side). Is it easy to spray etc. Assuming it’s a bar they first put in from reading Google. My horse banged his head into my Tragus so it was healing great, then after went red and sore but it’s settling down again now. I absolutely love it. Love all your ears on here but can only have certain ones due to my riding hat straps.

Bearsinmotion · 30/12/2023 11:45

My Daith took a while (16 weeks) to heal but was relatively painless and easy enough to clean. I am not sure if I can have a rook, if not I would be very tempted by another Daith, I love the way it looks and it’s been so easy…

MintIcecreams · 30/12/2023 12:42

Can you use earbuds with a daith?

OriginalFloorboards · 30/12/2023 13:48

@Bearsinmotion this is great to hear. Thank you. It’s definitely the next thing then.

MintIcecreams · 30/12/2023 12:42

Yes you can, I do think it's a bit more awkward. I have bone conducting earphones which have been great for my piercings.

I'm considering a double tragus when my current tragus has stopped playing up. It will be on my daith side though so not sure if it will work.

I would quite like a spine tattoo but we are talking hundreds of pounds so that's out of the question for a long time!

Vetoncall · 31/12/2023 00:52

Bit late to this thread but I have 3 lobe piercings in each ear and got a helix done about 6 weeks ago and now I definitely want more cartilage piercings! I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to having needles stuck in me though so was very nervous but I didn't find the helix painful at all. It's healing really well so far, no pain or swelling.

I'm going to get the auricle/mid helix done in the other ear next and I'd like to get the rook or flat done at the same time but I'm a bit put off by people saying the rook especially is really painful - is it that bad? Can anyone with a flat tell me how painful it was (or wasn't!)? I've had my belly button done since I was 17, I still love it but the thought of having it done now makes me 🤢 so I obviously used to be braver than I am now 😄

Bearsinmotion · 31/12/2023 08:51

I haven’t had a rook so can’t compare directly but I didn’t find the flat too painful - it’s also very straightforward to pierce and clean, and really flexible in terms of what jewellery you can use.

MintIcecreams · 31/12/2023 10:01

I have a rook and it was my least painful cartilage piercing. I was prepared for it to be the worst one but it was about a 3/10. Seems to vary a lot. I found the flat more painful but still not bad.

Vetoncall · 31/12/2023 18:58

Thank you both! I guess even if they hurt it's over quickly and it'll be worth it. I'm still thinking about placement, considering the rook in the ear with the helix and the flat and mid helix in the other ear.

GudiBrallan · 01/01/2024 09:08

Just curious: I went into TK Maxx with DD to look for a gift the other day, and in the jewellery section (the cheap boxed studs and huggies on the shelves) so many pairs of earrings in boxes had been raided and just one of the earrings removed. These weren't the pricy items where one might assume you need to ask behind the counter to get the second part of the pair in order to prevent theft, but really just people nicking single studs and little huggies out of boxes containing pairs.

Do you think it's the trend for unmatchy, curated ears that is causing people to look to procure single earrings as opposed to purchasing pairs? I know the missing earrings wouldn't work in cartilage piercings, but would be fine for a row of lobes. So bizarre!

SaltanVinegar · 03/01/2024 22:51

I got my rook done quite recently, it’s my most painful so far, but honestly not even that bad. The most painful bit was, as always, the jewellery being placed. I got my conch done right after, so can’t have been that bad, haha. My flat was barely a pinch, and over very quickly. Also healed well!

@GudiBrallan I’ve seen people wear all sorts of inappropriate jewellery in cartilage piercings, I’d put my money on anyone stealing earrings to just put them in any piercing they can fit it to. Even when it’s the wrong gauge and type!

Swiftbushome · 27/02/2024 12:48

Anyone had any new piercings lately?
I'm healing a forward helix and a conch - both done in September last year and neither are healed yet. Do you think it'd be a bad idea to get a flat done now in the same ear? Should I wait till they're fully healed?

FunkyMonks · 27/02/2024 13:34

I'm struggling with my couch still and it's almost been a year 🥺 I'm on my way now to try and see if the piercer can check it over and if it can be sorted got lumps on the front and back may have to loose it altogether.

And the worse thing is I recently paid out £129 for 14k white gold hoop for the damn thing and now it looks like it may have to come out and I'm stuck with a hoop that's not suitable for any other piercings 🙈.

Swiftbushome · 27/02/2024 14:14

Ugh that's a pain. Could it be that you need to go back to a stud for a bit longer maybe and the hoop will work.once it's 100% healed maybe?

OP posts:
FunkyMonks · 27/02/2024 14:58

Thankfully that's what they've done changed it back to labret said the lumps look irritation perhaps caused by the ring that the piercing hole itself looked good phew so we shall wait and see now if in three weeks time the lumps have gone down will downsize the labret again .
So I'm really hoping it will settle don't really want to loose the piercing as I do love the conch.

I think you just twist the ring from the ball bit (if that makes sense)

or pop into your local piercing place and they won’t mid popping it off for you

Swiftbushome · 27/02/2024 18:01

Does anyone have any advice on this please;

It's sort of now(ish) or not for another 6 months or so because I don't want to have to worry about a new piercing over the summer.
