Your absolute hero products...

wheresmymojo · 16/02/2023 08:20

I know these threads are done a lot but I love to see people's absolute favourite, best-of-it's-kind products.

The things where you've tried loads and then find one and it's so good that you declare it the BEST EVER.

Skincare, makeup, hair care, whatever...

I'll go first...

Mascara - Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara. Recent purchase, I bloody love it. Really buildable. Great length and volume and it doesn't make me a panda even with my very oily skin

Foundation - Nars light reflecting foundation. Another recent find for me, great for skin that's started to get fine lines and wrinkles. Feels light on the skin but gives medium coverage.

Lip tint - Benetint. Have used now for probably 25 years since I was a late teen.

Lipsticks - Chantecaille Lip Veil and Laura Mercier Rouge Essential. Both creamy and hydrating but really pigmented and last surprisingly well given they're not tagged as 'long lasting'

Have heard good things about Nars Powermatte for a non-transfer long lasting and have one arriving tomorrow!

Morning skincare - I've just started using REN Flash Hydro Boost and I've never tried anything like it. You massage a little water in after and my skin is so plump and youthful looking afterwards...I don't believe it's doing much in terms of long lasting effects but the daily pay off is worth it alone

Dermatica - prescription strength evening skincare bespoke to your skin concerns. Mine is for ageing, a little acne (still...at 40) and scars from spots/sun spots/general texture and dullness. Have been using for a month and already good progress on texture, radiance, spots and pigmentation. The tretinoin takes a while to make a difference to the existing lines but all of the befores/after a, reviews are amazing

I have more for later but need to go do a tidying whirlwind before the cleaner arrives!

  • Dove soap: gentle enough for washing my face and gives a nice lather
  • Dead Sea Magic Rich Moisturiser: have used this faithfully for years with good results, only recently deviating to try out the Sali Hughes/Revolution range and am now covered in spots. That said I do still rate her...
  • Must-C serum, which makes my moisturiser go further.
  • Sudocreme: hero product that soothes itchy legs living under thermals this time of year (so glamorous)
  • Urban Decay kohl pencils: smooth as butter with great application and don't need sharpening for ages. Nothing worse than an eye pencil that barely leaves a mark, looking at you Kiko.
  • No 7 moisture drench lipstick: some shades are almost transparent like a lip stain/gloss
  • Benefit Moon Beam highlighter
Bookist · 18/02/2023 17:21

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. I keep one in every handbag, in my desk drawer and one by my bed.

I love threads like this!

I'm a total product junkie but things I buy again and again -

Trinny BFF
Urban Decay glide on eye pencil in Stash (a tip from on here, a kind of khaki green)
Aldi Caviar cream
Beauty Pie Super Retinol Eye Cream
The Aldi dupe of Pixi Glow Toner
By Terry Rose lip balm.

endlesscraziness · 18/02/2023 19:56

JSS After Show Cleanser
JSS Antioxidant serum (I'm too sensitive for vit C)
ELF Holy Hydration moisturiser
Eucerin Gel Cream SPF

Not great with makeup

mamaison · 18/02/2023 20:21

It stays quite well because it’s hard and not waxy. I do tend to rub my brows during the day but they are thick and dark so I wouldn’t notice too much if it faded. It is just a pencil though so not a superstay product. I love the texture and shades.

LondonSouth28 · 18/02/2023 20:36

For hair I always come back to kerastase.

Best lip cream for overnight results - Bepanthen.

Weleda skin Food, Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream, Eucerin dry skin urea Cream.

And while I appreciate this is about products, I can't get one that is better than Profhilo injections and Botox.

OuiLaLa · 18/02/2023 21:04

davines shampoo - only stuff I can find my scalp does not react to

Vaseline with a tint

sudocream for really distressed skin, ditto oils.

tan luxe and vita liberta tanning stuff

Grey Vetiver is one of my favourites, I love it and I've just finished my bottle. I've decided not to replace it just yet as I've just opened a bottle of Estee lauder Desert Eden. It's a rose musk scent and absolutely gorgeous.

Enjoying this thread!

Some standby's for me:
Avene Gentle Toning Liquid
Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey - my go to lip tint. I keep one at home and in my handbag.
L'oreal Telescopic mascara - it really does seem to make my lashes longer.
Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon for lips. I was reading this was a dupe for a more expensive long lasting lippy. This one lasts without drying you out! I put it on in the morning, and put a little clear balm on after it sets. Good to go.

NavyCurtains · 18/02/2023 22:35

Carmex cherry lip balm (in the tube, not the tin)

extrasushiplease · 19/02/2023 02:51

Pond's Dry Skin Cream- I say this as someone with VERY dehydrated skin from lupus even though I'm constantly drinking water; this is absolutely not for oily skin beauties. It also works so well under every kind of makeup I've ever used that it basically doubles as a primer.
Pixi Glow Tonic- I've used toners with a higher glycolic acid %, but it's just not the same. My skin loves whatever mix is in this, and my skin starts looking bleh if I go two weeks without it.
Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser- an amazing toner that's cheap as chips. Even after first cleanse and then wash, this stuff still gets gunk out of my pores everything else missed. Helped immensely with face clarity and breakouts. I use it after I wear makeup or when I'm having a hormonal breakout: It is EFFECTIVE so I'm careful not to overuse.
Paula's Choice AHA and BHA
Smith's Rosebud Salve
Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF SPF 50+, PA++++ UVA/UVB- Incredible protection and it's silky, instantly sinks into the skin, and plays well with makeup.
Pantene Miracle Rescue

Maybelline Brow Stylist
It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara and Maybelline Full and Soft- Big but natural lashes with no smudging or fallout, plus easier to get off the lashes at the end of the day more than most.
Victoria Beckham eyeliners- I hate to say it for the price, but if you have crepey eyelids, these are a dream.

merlotlover · 19/02/2023 07:46

Eyeko mascara the only brand that won't smudge on me or make my eyes water
Benefit industrial concealer the only thing that cover my rosecea

beguilingeyes · 19/02/2023 08:03

I also love lip balms that are packaged like lipstick and pumps and tubes for lotions. I hate jars and pots that I have to put my fingers in.
This is the one thing that puts me off Reve De Miel, I hate getting lip balm, or anything else under my fingernails.

JFDIYOLO · 20/02/2023 01:47

Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser
Vaseline pink lip balm in the little pink tin

E45 body lotion in the navy and gold pump bottle
Boots No7 lipstick in Sugar Plum

Groutyonehereagain · 20/02/2023 01:52

I would say that what is mentioned here is roughly 0.000000001% of the available beauty products worldwide - so not that much.

Me culpa. I consider myself shamed. I will go back to rubbing my face with handfuls of grit immediately.
