Your absolute hero products...

I know these threads are done a lot but I love to see people's absolute favourite, best-of-it's-kind products.

The things where you've tried loads and then find one and it's so good that you declare it the BEST EVER.

Skincare, makeup, hair care, whatever...

I'll go first...

Mascara - Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara. Recent purchase, I bloody love it. Really buildable. Great length and volume and it doesn't make me a panda even with my very oily skin

Foundation - Nars light reflecting foundation. Another recent find for me, great for skin that's started to get fine lines and wrinkles. Feels light on the skin but gives medium coverage.

Lip tint - Benetint. Have used now for probably 25 years since I was a late teen.

Lipsticks - Chantecaille Lip Veil and Laura Mercier Rouge Essential. Both creamy and hydrating but really pigmented and last surprisingly well given they're not tagged as 'long lasting'

Have heard good things about Nars Powermatte for a non-transfer long lasting and have one arriving tomorrow!

Morning skincare - I've just started using REN Flash Hydro Boost and I've never tried anything like it. You massage a little water in after and my skin is so plump and youthful looking afterwards...I don't believe it's doing much in terms of long lasting effects but the daily pay off is worth it alone

Dermatica - prescription strength evening skincare bespoke to your skin concerns. Mine is for ageing, a little acne (still...at 40) and scars from spots/sun spots/general texture and dullness. Have been using for a month and already good progress on texture, radiance, spots and pigmentation. The tretinoin takes a while to make a difference to the existing lines but all of the befores/after a, reviews are amazing

I have more for later but need to go do a tidying whirlwind before the cleaner arrives!

Dream cocktail coconut infused leave in treatment by Colour Wow. Hair. So. Soft.

CymruChris · 16/02/2023 22:45

I have a couple of staple products that I've used for years, every time I try something new I regret it!

Estee Lauder double wear foundation
Lancome Hypnose mascara
Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad - dolce vita is my favourite of all eyeshadows

A relatively new one is P Louise eyeshadow pencil/brush. Funnily enough I recommended it in another thread just now!

TheChosenTwo · 16/02/2023 22:47

Ooh @HerbalTeaAndCake i just bought this after my hairdresser used it on me yesterday, can’t wait to wash my hair again so I can try it out myself 😂 (you know it’s impossible to get your hair exactly how they do it, worth a go though!).

Perry34 · 16/02/2023 22:54

Estée Lauder double wear here too
urban decay setting sprsy
mac 24hr eyeliner
Kerastase hair care range
The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser
BlondeMe hair bleach powder (I never need more than 20vol developer and this to lift my super dark roots, my hairdresser couldn’t believe it)

^ I refuse to live without these . Ever

just got a Shark flex style (Dyson dupe) and it’s been far healthier on my hair that the ghd hairdryer and straighteners routine I’ve done for 15 years.

.

WellTidy · 16/02/2023 23:37

Garnier micellar water with the pink lid

Estée Lauder skincare (with the exception of cleanser, where I will use a few different brands, I am not deviating from EL again. It’s taken ages for my skin to settle after tarting myself across other brands, I’m now staying loyal)

EL lip liners in rose, nude and spice go with every lipstick I own, they’re so soft and easy to use, I keep buying

Benefit pore-fessional primer cannot be beaten for me

Niftythrifter · 17/02/2023 00:18

Corsodyl toothpaste

drinkingcream · 17/02/2023 00:28

Nivea blue tub

MavisMcMinty · 17/02/2023 00:34

Oh yes, Benefit Porefessional is magic!

DarlingCoffee · 17/02/2023 06:42

Living proof perfect hair day dry shampoo. Genuinely the best dry shampoo I’ve ever used and it actually cleans your hair.

Cantonet · 17/02/2023 12:21

Cerave hydrating foaming oil & Clinique Cleansing oil are both fantastic products. The Clinique oil is so efficient at removing make up and the Cerave is a fresh smelling soothing face wash.
Also I've had major success recently in finding lipsticks that suit me as a soft colour Blonde. Mac Runway Hit - a peachy natural colour, Mac Please Me - a wonderful pink that's definite but natural on & Mehr - a slightly deeper pink that looks a bit more 'done'.
Finally a shout out for the really cheap Boots No 17 Eyebrow Mascara. I look so much better with defined brows. Plus the No 7 retractable lip pencils in Nude & Soft Blush. They work with all nudes & pinks & don't have to be sharpened.

Heyjoewhatsup · 17/02/2023 12:48

Smoom face floss, gamechanging for me. Helps smooth my complexion, get rid of redness and lessens dark circles.

Spotted on TikTok … lots of people raving about it as you can see from the reviews.

www.smoom.co.uk/products/blackseed-and-apricot-face-floss

warning: it does smell a bit smoky but it’s worth it!

Heyjoewhatsup · 17/02/2023 12:49

Ooh I also like Charlotte Tilbury mascara, holy grail for me (pink and gold wand)

ShinySquirrel · 17/02/2023 13:45

Chamomile cleansing balm from the Body Shop. I've tried a few different balms, including Elemis, and nothing compares.

Aldi's rose facial oil. It's a dupe for PIXI and it's so good. I bought a bottle, fell in love, and then it was out of stock online and I couldn't find it in store. I bought a year's supply when they finally restocked online.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast gel (not the cream). This is amazing for any random dry or sore bits. I also use it on fresh scars to encourage healing. It's like painting on new skin, it soothes that quickly.

Shu Uemura hard eyebrow pencil in Seal Brown is holy grail for me. Only product I have never ever changed.

MAC extended play mascara (not the biggest lashes but stays put 100%)
MAC snob lipstick
MAC face and body foundation

Skin+Me

would love to know people’s best eyeliners

How do you find the Shu Uemura eyebrow in enculturation in terms of staying power? Im always on the hunt for something that doesn't get wiped off my sparse thyroid hairless eyebrows by the end of the day!

BastardtheCat · 18/02/2023 07:18

Have no clue how that word ended up there?! 🤔

Enculturation??! Ignore please!

stayathomer · 18/02/2023 07:31

No7 tubing mascara- stay perfect - thank you to the people from the thread about mascaras that don’t move but work for sensitive eyes- my eyes leak mascara from the get go- I’m the person with bits down my face an hour after applying and this stuff lasts a day really comfortably!

Athrawes
Can anyone recommend an eye cream that will actually make a difference to crepey undereyes?
I live by cerave eye cream, it moisturises so well!

Cetaphil gentle face cleanser
avene skin recovery cream- although it’s now tolerane and isn’t as good on my over 40-roseacea skin, I found some of the old stuff on eBay though

clinique chubby sticks
primers- either glossier moisturising one or Aimee Connolly moisturising one
clarins bb cream
Rimmel perfect match concealer
Rimmel perfect match foundation
Sanctuary shower gel

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 18/02/2023 08:52

Weleda Skin Food
Mac Paint Pots in Painterly and Groundwork
Clinique Chubby Sticks
Clinique Intense eye liner
Erborian Super BB and anti redness ones
Milk Makeup lip and cheek colour

SilverGlitterBaubles · 18/02/2023 09:45

Lots of mentions for Clinique chubby sticks which I would like to try. I see there are lip, eye and cheek versions. Which one would you recommend and what colours? TIA

dudsville · 18/02/2023 10:24

These are my mainstays:

Nivea blue tub for skin generally, but also the night masks for general wear at night or in the day if I'm not going out.

Eve lom cleanser

The ordinary glycolic acid, buffet and hyaluronic acid serums and face oils.

Arm & hammer toothpaste (i have naturally white teeth and credit this product)

Arm &hammer antiperspirant (got this on holiday decades ago, it's wonderful and doesn't give me itchy underarms the way i get with mitchum so i buy on amazon)

EA 8hr spf 15 face moisturiser for day, the only spf cream my face tolerates.

EA camouflage for foundation. I have rosacea and this hides it well, but it's super thick so i apply with face oil to get a glow. Makes the product less efficient, but it's so efficient in its own that I'm happy with the result.

My menopausal hair likes aveda dry remedy and olaplex, also philip kingsley elasticizer extreme, but it's a faff doing hair masks, so i don't do this as often.

Carmex lip balm

I have dry skin and hair so my favourites may not be yours!

Wanting to read this post in detail but out waking the dog but will add my list later. Great thread

I have the mega melon lip chubby stick. It’s got a great brightening effect in the spring time!

UWhatNow · 18/02/2023 10:40

Great thread!

Only three holy grails -

No7 foundation - any - they change every so often but always work for me.
Lancôme Hypnose mascara.
Collection eye definer pencil - bargain price but soft and smudgey - perfect for smoky eye.

I've used the lip & cheek sticks for years.
Lips - strawberry & cherry 🍒🍓
Blush - amped up apple & bronzing chubby stick to contour. The highlighting one is also good, but my 18 year old has nicked it.
The eye ones are great on but irritate my super sensitive eyes.
