Dupe thread (saving money)

Hi all,

I'm sure months and months ago I saw a general dupe thread but it's seems to have gone(happy to stand corrected and delete this one if this is a double).Since I can't be the only one who's feeling the crunch financially though thought I would share some of my dupes I really rate

Foundation- double wear Estée Lauder (especially for those pale people with no colour to their skin - mine doesn't seem to have either pink or yellow tones)
Top contenders - rimmel 24hr stay (lots of colours available)
And primark foundation (one in square bottle) - (less colour range but if you have your match) it's literally better than the new EL one in my opinion.

Fashion - Skims dresses - (bare with me I have a teen in the house and she's obsessed with skims) but it's massively pricey - found on SHEIN exact shape of one of the black dresses with long arms

I'm told super comfortable.

@Youpillock elf halo is a good dupe of flawless filter, usually sold out though - I've also been trying the latest maybelline offering - it's a lot more sheer than ff but it is lovely

Tried the elf one. Not a patch on FF.

Aldi Rose & Rhubarb hand wash, exactly the same smell as Molten Brown, but £1.09 rather than £25+

@ladymacbeth re SHEIN it's the teen that uses it and told me about the dress but she will be horrified by this ❤️ so thank you and I will pass that on to her and I take back the SHEIN recommendation!

@journeyofinsanity thanks for the info, i will say I'm not a hairdresser and I probably didn't explain well in the op what I consider a dupe imo is I have been told doesn't always mean a exact carbon copy of a ingredients list (which those do get copy righted) but a dupe is a similar product that has a similar outcome as the high end product. I get on with Plex it works for me and what I need it but it may not work for others. That's ok. People are welcome to try whatever they like. With the notable reference above - I stand by what I said but I know I'm not a expert (in anything I have mentioned.
Just a mum feeling the crunch and feeling guilty about spending money on myself so wanted to harness the MN brains and create a thread that might be useful. I certainly have found it useful and I hope others have too !

If there is baked and brighten dupe I'd like to find it to. It's transformed my approach to make up. It lasts for ages though so maybe it's economical and I sometimes buy it on QVC when they have it on special value.

I have to say there doesn't seem to be a good enough copy out there currently I know of or been mentioned but I wonder for this one - as a few people have been asking about it if we could find the best price we have seen it for and share the link (if appropriate) ?

I'm going to sound like a advert but every little helps ? 😵‍💫 excuse me ladies I have had 0 sleep again and my brain is just dead.

Haha me too! I find it a relatively cheap way to know if I'm going to like a perfume before busting out big bucks on the real deal. Sometimes I just stick with the PP version if it's one I'm not likely to wear a lot.

Lidl Suddenly Madame glamour - Chanel coco mademoiselle
Primark roll model mascara - Benefit roller lash

Lacura hand creams - L'occitane
Lacura cleansing balm - Emma Hardie
Miracle cream - Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream
Healthy glow toner - Pixi glow
Snapshot ready primer - smashbox primer
Too Legit mascara - Benefit they're real mascara
Pink clay mask - Sand & Sky Australian clay mask
Lacura cashmere glow foundation - Armani foundation
Aldi also did a range last year that were close to Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lip & eye shadows

Both Aldi & Primark have decent versions of Bobbi Brown face base

The only products I've not been keen on is the Aldi Olaplex range - made my hair dry unlike Olaplex and the Aldi copies of Urban Decay eye palettes weren't amazing but ok as a budget version.

I'm always of the thinking if I have a Holy Grail then if I search for a dupe , it will sit unused . It takes a lot of frogs to find a prince .
My HG is Aveda Shampure , very ££ . I use Liz Earle shampoo&conditioner and occasionally BodyShop Ginger .
No point me looking elsewhere , these work for me ( and everyone else uses the Ginger )
A litre of Shampure will last me a year ( though my DS pinches it and thinks I don't know , it has a distinctive scent , I know Wink )

I had a Laura Gellor blusher that was perfect for me ( bought a QVC kit) and lasted forever until it fell and shattered . I have been keeping an eye out for a replacement , I bought an M&S Autograph blusher which is nice but not the same . Though my skin tone will have changed it probably won't suit me now

Same. I’ve tried many more daring fragrances that I never otherwise would have bought. I’ve also found loads from PP that perform better than the originals - Jo Malone dupes being a classic case in point.

God yes, Actual Jo Malone fragrances are just pisswater. I love Lime Basil Mandarin but there's no way I'd spend that kind of money when the PP Extract is a tenner!

The "split" IS HALF BALANCE AND BRIGHTEN / HALF BALANCE AND GLOW, the glow version is very glossy, almost the finish of a highlighter, which in my pale faced shade makes me look a bit like the moon, but at this stage I would try the dual compact I am that desperate.

I have recently bought the MAC Mineralize natural skin finish which is not quite the same finish as LG, but it is close-ish.... again quite a lot of money for a face powder though. ;-(

Ladies please be aware when buying from SHEIN that they make it difficult to send returns.
I bought three items which are all the wrong size. When I tried to return them the machine in the shop would not recognise the details on my phone. I tried several times to rectify this and eventually my daughter tried. Now I have to keep them as the date ran out. When I tried to contact SHEIN they blocked me on their chat. They know what they are doing.

Also just to reference as it's come up a lot.

I certainly wasn't aware of the conditions in SHEIN so I take back completely my recommendation ( I don't use SHEIN but my teen does so that's were that recommendation came from) as I don't use it myself !

The M&S Warm Neroli is very nice - didn't know it was a Lady Million dupe.

Primark have a dupe of the Charlotte Tilbury wands which are so nice (but I have never tried the CT one) and they have a dupe of the Chanel whipped bronzer, I actually prefer the primark version.

I prefer the Chanel bronzer to the Primark one. I find the Primark one too dark for me but I am quite fair skinned.

As far as I'm concerned the Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow 15% Vitamin C serum is a dupe for Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Acid serum, and about a tenth of the price.

Also Garnier Ambre Solaire Ultra Light Sun Protection SPF50 in the small white bottle is a dupe for the La Roche Posay Anthelios 50+ Fluid - like a previous poster has said both Garnier and La Roche Posay are owned by the L'Oreal parent company anyway, so I presume the recipe is very similar.
