@whumpthereitis think we are perfume twins 😁

I am ekeing out the last dregs of a sample of Traversee as I adore it so much and its NOWHERE to be found, not even for silly money on ebay.

The only thing I have found that comes vaguely close is Slow Explosions by Imaginary Authors. It shares the apple/rose/leather combo but doesn't have the Turkish delight/spice element. Its a lovely scent though, maybe worth a try?

I periodically check EBay but it never seems to come up. Not surprising really, but a bit gutting that not even eBay is coming through for me 😭

Slow Explosions is lovely, but you’re right that it’s lacking that ‘something’ that made Traversée so special. Currently trawling through Etsy to see if there’s any perfume oil dupes of it on there.

FestivelyScent · 23/05/2023 23:28

@whumpthereitis No19 is one of my favourites, too! And it's just the definitive green for me. It sort of melts into my skin, so that it's me that smells of galbanum and iris and moss, rather that my perfume iyswim. That's what the perfect fragrance should do, in my opinion.
My first SL was Ambre Sultan, too. It made me fall in love with his creations. I have a sample of la fille de Berlin somewhere, I must get it out tomorrow and have a sniff.

How did I not know about the existence of the Turkish delight genre? That sounds right up my street.

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale, more greenery inspired by Chelsea. 🌸🌼🌷

SOTD Diptyque Philosykos. I forgot I had an oil roller ball thing of this as well as the proper perfume so it was nice to chuck that in my bag for work.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 24/05/2023 08:55

SOTD Traversée du Bosphore 🌞

Looking at the handwritten label on the bottle, I think this may actually have been a present from a Perfumista...

mirages08 · 24/05/2023 10:12

Sotd narciso poudree

It’s absolutely the queen of greens. I’ve got an old bottle from the 80s that I use veeeeery sparingly. I do still like the new formulation but it is more watered down compared to the vintage. For me it’s the archetypal female villain perfume, I could see Medusa or Maleficent wearing it in all their terrible power. It’s like nature reasserting herself following nuclear winter. I’m in love with it and I could wax lyrical like a fangirl for ages 😩

I’m just getting into Turkish delight too. Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche has a note of it that’s just delicious, so does Lancôme’s Parfait de Roses. I want to get hold of Rahat Loukhoum by Lutens, as well as the Mecheri mentioned earlier. Apparently Kayali’s Yum Pistachio Gelato is worth a try too, although I’m wondering if that might be a bit ‘young’ for me. A sample wouldn’t hurt I suppose. Gah, there’s too many on my list currently 🤦🏻‍♀️

SOTD is Tom Ford Bitter Peach

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/05/2023 17:36

I'm persisting with Love in White but not really enjoying it. At lunchtime I had a cheeky spray of Fragonard Santal and Cardamom while I was in M&S which is delicious and a lovely sort of gingery cardamom ( I can smell no sandalwood at all) but it lasts about five minutes on my skin. Terrible longevity for something that says it's an EDP.

Alazne58 · 24/05/2023 18:51

SOTD Violette - Fragonard

DramaAlpaca · 24/05/2023 21:57

No 19 is my favourite Chanel, it sits perfectly on my skin.

I tried out some of my Zara fragrances. Brief verdicts:

Leather Jardin - not for me, I like leather but this has too much. I think it leans too masculine on me.

Red Temptation - not keen, if this is a BR540 clone I know not to bother trying BR540.

Red Vanilla - love this

Bohemian Oud - love this too, just enough leather plus warmth and spice

Sultry Pear - gorgeous, a JPG La Belle clone which lasts well so is great value

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/05/2023 22:21

SOTD Penhaligons Orange Blossom. I had a migraine earlier so needed something light.

19 is also my favourite Chanel. If I was forced to pick a signature scent that would be mine, and it’s definitely the only one DP can identify blind.

FestivelyScent · 24/05/2023 23:08

Hope your migraine is better now @Judystilldreamsofhorses

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

Sotd narciso poudree again
Rather pleasant powdery musk

Cantonet · 25/05/2023 10:06

Guerlain Nerolia Bianco is Sotd.
I was inspired by Judy's choice to wear Orange blossom today. As I used to love the Penhaligons Orange Blossom. I've only just retrieved my Summer Perfumes out of the cupboard - rather late this year🌞

Alazne58 · 25/05/2023 14:55

SOTD Mimosa - Fragonard

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 25/05/2023 14:56

I've layered Penhaligon's Halfeti with Elizabethan Rose. No idea why. It's good though.

Pigeon31 · 25/05/2023 16:18

SOTD: YSL Y - I don't really understand why it's labelled for men because it's just a nice aromatic/ woody type of perfume. I had this sample in the back of my perfume drawer.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 25/05/2023 18:03

My sotd is Sisley No 1 an aromatic green that smells very nice. I have come to appreciate this with age. I would not have bothered 10 years ago.

FestivelyScent · 25/05/2023 22:43

SOTN is MH Violet Ida. Gorgeous, warm, powdery thing.

OP posts:
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/05/2023 22:59

I love Violet Ida!

SOTD Lush Kerbside Violet. I bought this as a decant last year and really like it, but I hate Lush as a rule and the price of a full bottle is criminal.

FestivelyScent · 26/05/2023 19:32

SOTD is Guerlain Vol D'Nuit. This is new to me, from a sample, but I can hardly smell it. Maybe every so often when I turn my head I get an impression of greenish chypre-y powder, but it is so thin and ephemeral as to be barely there, and I feel as though I am straining my nose to detect it.

If I hadn't ordered from this sample company before (Tiny Fragrances), I'd have thought they'd watered it down or supplied a dupe, but I have (I got yesterday's Violet Ida from them) and trust them. I think Guerlain recently reformulated some of their classics before placing them in a new bottle design. I hope this neutered thing is not the result.

Will have to try overspraying next time.

FestivelyScent · 26/05/2023 23:49

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale, for that green chypre blast I had wanted from the Vol D'Nuit.

I love that one, too for summer ☀️
I've got a few I want to sell...is it better to try their fb page?
I went a bit mad and bought 2 lots of customised trios! 🤣
