Oops! Looks like we ran out of space on the last thread - I hope you all find your way over here.

Anyway, welcome fragrant friends to a shiny new thread!

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Gosh, those Zara fragrances sound intriguing! I haven't tried any yet, but I'm persuaded to do so!

SOTN is Chopard Wish, which was a gift and definitely what my 20 year old self would have probably loved, but is not quite so appealing to me now. Too sweet, too gourmand, too everything really, but there's still something warm-powdery-hug about it, and my little DD likes it, so here we are Grin

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 21/05/2023 10:13

SOTD is Lush's Kerbside Violet. A big whump of parma violets, concrete and wet earth. It's well-named!

I'm tempted by the Sana Jardin discovery set. The descriptions of almost all of them sound great. Anyone tried?

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 21/05/2023 10:16

Ha, just realised that @VonThorn's sweaty deer was Sana Jardjn - that's decided me! 😂

AprilLady · 21/05/2023 10:28

Definitely a rose theme for me this weekend:

Yesterday’s SOTD was Diptyque Eau Rose, SOTN was Ellie Saab Essence No 1 Rose - both wonderful, but rather different rose scents.

Thanks to this thread have also gone down something of a Zara rabbit hole. I went into the store yesterday hoping to find Leather Jardin to sample. It wasn’t there but walked out with another rose perfume Queen Plumrose, which is today’s SOTD. The Fragrantica top note is “sand”, no idea what that means, but I get rose with something a little salty and sour going on - I’m rather enjoying it, and it makes a change from the plethora of very sweet rose/vanilla scents. Don’t believe Fragrantica though, it’s not even close to Eau Rose.

Beautiful day here, so accordingly SotD #1 is Jil Sander's Sun, a balmy orange blossom and vanilla with a hot skin vibe, and #2 is M&S's Santorini Days, a really good cheap refreshingly moist mandarin, basil and cedar. Santorini Days reminds me a bit of Eau Belle d'Azzaro, which was lovely for sunny holidays (but has proved to be an unusually unstable brew, which consequently means it isn't worth chancing it on eBay).

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/05/2023 11:14

Good morning!

I'm wearing a sample of Love in white by Creed today and tbh it's not really exciting me much. I was hoping for it to be gorgeous but it just smells generic watery floral on my skin and I seem to have gone nose blind to it after a couple of hours, which is a shame.

Alazne58 · 21/05/2023 12:45

SOTD Sample Histoires de Parfums - Tubereuse 3 . A very intense tuberose scent.

alltheevennumbers · 21/05/2023 13:07

Accidental discovery - Leather Jardin over Sun delivers more than the sum of the parts. I don't normally do layering but this is good.

CorneliaStreet · 21/05/2023 20:50

SOTD Atkinsons Her Majesty the Oud. It’s a floral/oud, with quite a bit of sweetness. It is lovely but surprisingly doesn’t last that long on me - anything with oud usually seems to go on forever.

FestivelyScent · 21/05/2023 22:55

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

Cantonet · 22/05/2023 16:52

Miller Harris Le Jasmin is Sotd
Gorgeous weather & I'm a little sunburnt 🌞
I'm really enjoying reading all the posts from all of you enthusiastic perfumistas & the new perfumes you're all trying.

CorneliaStreet · 22/05/2023 17:37

SOTD Maison Francis Kurkdijan Aqua Vitae. Citrus and woody, perfect for a warm, sunny day like today.

AprilLady · 22/05/2023 19:23

SOTD Diptyque again, this time Philosykos. Lovely green, figgy summer scent. Just wish it lasted longer on me.

FestivelyScent · 22/05/2023 23:11

Tested a new sample of Miller Harris Violet Ida today - 'tis gorgeous. It smells like the make up bag my mum keeps old eyebrow pencils and powder compacts in - woody, Iris-y, powdery, all wrapped up with a hint of warm vanilla. Isn't scent memory wonderful? This just makes me feel safe and happy.

SOTN is No19, something green for watching the coverage of Chelsea Flower show. 🌸🌼🌷

Thank you for the welcomes!

La Fille de Berlin arrived yesterday! I’ve seen it described as a photorealistic rose and yes, yes it is. Amazing. Also heard some say there’s a blood scent to it, which I can also detect. It’s the geranium, imo. Not unpleasant at all. Beautiful perfume. This is my second Lutens, my first was Ambre Sultan which is also incredible. Am falling more and more in love with this house.

I’m going to look into Keiko Mecheri. A good Turkish delight scent is delicious and I can’t and won’t resist it.

ooh, question! Does anyone know a good alternative to Traversée du Bosphore by L’Artisan Parfumeur? The bastards discontinued it and I haven’t been able to find anything quite like it.

SOTD is Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche

mirages08 · 23/05/2023 11:47

I'm determined to try lots of my perfumes this summer
I get into a perfume rut sometimes

No19 is one of my all time favourites. To me it’s the best Chanel, and an unparalleled green. It’s just powerful and uncompromising.

Cantonet · 23/05/2023 12:24

Chanel Cristalle edp is Sotd.
One of my favourite cool greens & my best Chanel, on me.
Ooh, la Fille de Berlin is a beautiful perfume. One of my favourite Roses.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 23/05/2023 16:35

@whumpthereitis think we are perfume twins 😁

I am ekeing out the last dregs of a sample of Traversee as I adore it so much and its NOWHERE to be found, not even for silly money on ebay.

The only thing I have found that comes vaguely close is Slow Explosions by Imaginary Authors. It shares the apple/rose/leather combo but doesn't have the Turkish delight/spice element. Its a lovely scent though, maybe worth a try?

Noooooo! They never have discontinued Traversee du Bosphore - that's just outrageous. <presses precious bottle to breast protectively>

DisforDarkChocolate · 23/05/2023 20:15

Hello lovely perfume people.

My perfume is Connocks of London Andiroba. It's no longer for sale anywhere I can find ☹️. Does anyone have a suggestion for something similar?
