SOTD Au Coeur de Desert.

Thanks for good wishes re: job. All still hanging in the balance. So much uncertainty. Absolutely exhausted with it all and would almost prefer that they just got rid of us all, but they're trying to be kind. It's not kind.

alltheevennumbers · 09/05/2023 11:08

Sorry to hear it's all up in the air @TakeYourHatOffBoy - you are right, that can be more stressful than a decision.

It's sunny here and quite warm so it's Miller Harris Forage collection today for me: #1 Wander (bitter green fig/nettle combo) #2 Found (sharp blackcurrant, herbaceous tomato leaf and geranium and a slightly nippy balsam fir with a vanillary foil).

AprilLady · 09/05/2023 20:16

Also wearing Tauer today: L’ADDM.

LolaMoon · 09/05/2023 20:59

Hello Perfumistas! I was wondering if anyone had some recs for dark, sexy belladonna based perfumes?

My favourite perfume of all time was Illamasqua Freak but they discontinued it (typical!)- Top notes: opium, belladonna and artemisia, middle notes datura and hemlock and base notes: Incense, myrrh and oud.

I found a wonderful replacement in Venetian Belladonna by Parfums Quartana but I have to order it from US so its ridiculously expensive with shipping costs too.

Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks so much in advance x

FestivelyScent · 09/05/2023 23:35

That sounds really stressful @TakeYourHatOffBoy Hope you get a decision soon, and that it's a positive one.

No recs @LolaMoon but that sounds a gorgeous perfume. They always seem to discontinue the good ones.

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

@LolaMoon Try Ormonde Woman by Ormonde Jayne. It has black hemlock and is unlike anything I've tried. You could also look at Papillon Spell 125: it's very dark and mysterious!

MissBattleaxe · 10/05/2023 08:37

@Alltheevennumbers I LOVE your descriptions of the MH Forage collection!

MissBattleaxe · 10/05/2023 08:37

@Alltheevennumbers I LOVE your descriptions of the MH Forage collection!

High praise coming from your @MissBattleaxe. Currently enjoying your reviews in The Perfume Companion.

Deathraystare · 10/05/2023 14:21

Thanks to whoever mentioned Pierre Cardin's Choc perfume. One of those (my description!) 'wide awake citruses'. Unfortunately I left my bag at home so not wearing any scent but with any luck the smell of sandalwood is still on me from this morning's shower!!!

Deathraystare · 10/05/2023 14:26

@Chevyimpala67

Someone ought to design a fragrance that makes one less Hangry!!

Deathraystare · 10/05/2023 14:29

@Cantonet

How long lasting is the Jasmine White Moss? I love Jasmine! is it a rich scent or quite subdued? Thanks!

Deathraystare · 10/05/2023 14:40

@TakeYourHatOffBoy ·

Madam! Why are you sniffing gussets!

As for the sun, I read there will a heatwave coming (are you in UK?). Typically, this will not make me happy as I get really uncomfortable in the heat.

Deathraystare · 10/05/2023 17:28

@alltheevennumbers

I see it was you I need to thank for the Choc de Cardin recommendation!!!!!

Alazne58 · 10/05/2023 17:42

SOTD ZARA Deep Garden has pear, tuberose and tonka bean, bought a second bottle start of spring this year.

@alltheevennumbers

I see it was you I need to thank for the Choc de Cardin recommendation!!!!!

It was indeed! Glad you are enjoying her and amazing she can still be found at reasonable prices. Aldehydes seem to have been out of fashion for a LONG time - unless I've missed a revival?

Extract from a nice article on Choc in Fragrantica:

A restrained and intelligent minimalist chypre, a kind of Platonic idea of chypre, in its intensity and richness, is polar opposite to the full-bodied Amouage Gold - but on the elegance scale they should share their place... If you like chypres as a family - Choc de Cardin, “the forgotten masterpiece by Francoise Caron," according to Luca Turin, is simply not to be missed.

Takes me back to my youth when I wore Choc (translates to shock; nothing to do with confectionery) in rotation with Cabochard and Eau de Gres, before moving on to Opium, Coco and Nu.

FestivelyScent · 10/05/2023 22:57

Choc sounds great.

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale, because I thought it's about time I used more of my springy scents - May already, and I've heard used any this year at all. However, I think I was slightly over generous in my application and now I've got a migraine starting. Grrr.

SOTD Vh Parfum love story

Cantonet · 11/05/2023 15:10

@Deathraystare the Jasmine White Moss is medium bodied with a rich jasmine, plus masses of Oak Moss. It reminds me a bit of Mito in its luscious greenery but a tamer version i'd say, with moderate longevity.
Apparently it is very similar to the original Cristalle & still shares some DNA with the modern edp.
The only problem is Jasmine White Moss is discontinued, but I picked up a couple of bottles on eBay a few years ago.
I wish Vero Profumo Mito was still obtainable in the UK, but I believe you can only buy it in Italy now.

Deathraystare · 11/05/2023 18:29

Thanks @Alltheevennumbers and @Cantonet !

Deathraystare · 11/05/2023 18:30

I nearly wore Diorella this morning but went with Roma instead! It is a little bit sweet but still lovely!

DramaAlpaca · 11/05/2023 18:50

It seems I can still post, even though the thread is now very long. I usually can't.

Just been reading through the latest chat, some interesting suggestions there.

I'm wearing the original DKNY today, the appley one. Felt appropriate on a windy spring day.

FestivelyScent · 11/05/2023 22:55

Glad you can keep posting now@DramaAlpaca 😊 Hopefully mn have fixed the slowness issue.

SOTN is No5.

DramaAlpaca · 12/05/2023 14:27

Yep, still can! SOTD is Musc Invisible.

Pigeon31 · 12/05/2023 16:07

sotd: aromatics elixir

CorneliaStreet · 12/05/2023 17:17

I’ve been stuck in a bit of a perfume rut in the day recently, alternating between MH Secret Gardenia and Gallivant Tel Aviv. I’ve been trying to use up some partially used samples in the evenings though and today’s is MMM Jazz Club.
