If your hair needs washing every day, do you wash it every day?!

My hair only looks passable on the day it’s been washed. As it take ages to dry and style, I never wash it every day. So on the second day, it will look lank and slightly greasy. I can’t leave it a third day. Occasionally I just wash the fringe and that does help.

I must be really lazy as I would look much more presentable if I just did it every morning!

Who else needs to wash their hair every day and do you?!

I do, and I do! Can't bear that greasy second day feeling. But I don't bother with much styling afterwards so it doesn't take up much time.

Christmascracker0 · 24/01/2023 20:08

I leave it two days if I’m just at home on the second day but I couldn’t go any more than that!

Everyone speaks about training your hair to be less greasy but it’s a load of BS I think.

Rainmakerof69 · 24/01/2023 20:16

I do and do. Like @Lucy304 I don't do much afterwards so not time consuming.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 24/01/2023 20:29

It needs it but I can stretch to 3 days with enough dry shampoo

CinnamonCoffee · 24/01/2023 20:42

You can train it. I used to wash my hair every other day now it never gets greasy. Longest I've not washed it for is 10 days. However I do have really thick hair. Maybe it's different depending on hair type.

Yeahrightthen · 24/01/2023 20:44

I only wash mine about once a week, I wear a hat when I go out (one positive of this weather) or use dry shampoo.

I have long, thick hair and I loathe washing/drying it.

Orcubed · 24/01/2023 21:06

Mine really needs washing every day. I’ve only washed it every two to three days for approx 6 years and it’s still disgusting on the second day so training it is a load of rubbish in my experience.

peanutbutter00 · 24/01/2023 21:11

People say you can train your hair to last longer, but everyone's 'longer' is different, some people can push it weeks others just a few days. Around 10 years ago I used to wash mine every day, but since then I have not been able to get it to last longer than 3 days. I have very thin and very fine straight hair that gets greasy less than 24 hours after washing. It just won't be trained to last any further than that. I push it 3 days with dry shampoo but can't get away with much longer.

TheOGCCL · 24/01/2023 21:11

I should wash mine every day but can’t be bothered (with all the styling), especially if I’m not going outside/to the office. I use dry shampoo or hair accessories or wash just the front, to get a second day. Never feel quite as put together though it’s better when my hair is short as it tends to look neater. Bleaching it helps too, and potentially it’s slightly less greasy than when I was in my twenties. I actually think skincare and make up goes onto my skin better when I’ve washed my hair too.

gogohmm · 24/01/2023 21:12

I was mine at least 6 days a week, occasionally on a weekend I don't if I'm going hiking

idonotmind · 24/01/2023 21:12

You know what, I have resigned myself to the fact that I have hair that I need to wash every day.

Otherwise it looks and feels shit and makes me feel down

All hail the daily wash!

idonotmind · 24/01/2023 21:13

it’s still disgusting on the second day so training it is a load of rubbish in my experience.

Same here

ALeapOfFaith · 24/01/2023 21:14

Mine needs washing everyday but I try not to on wfh days. It does mean that I have to look at my lank hair on zoom calls though..

MirabelMax · 24/01/2023 21:15

Yep, I exercise and get sweaty every day so have to wash it every day. Its very short though so it takes about 5 minutes to blow dry and style

Snowybeach · 24/01/2023 21:15

I do use dry shampoo sometimes to get an extra day if I’m just around the house.

I like the sleek centre parting ponytail look that some women wear. It probably works well with day old hair but it doesn’t suit me at all.

I wash mine everyday otherwise it feels horrible. Luckily I have fine hair which doesn’t take long to dry!

Keroppi · 24/01/2023 21:17

I just watched a video that said some people, especially with fine hair or people who exercise lots, need to wash their hair everyday. It's skin, we wash our faces everyday and wash it more when its dirty or oiky etc, so your scalp shouldn't be treated any differently! I have wavy hair that I hate styling. I like to braid it or am liberal with a dry shampoo updo if I don't have time for a wash and style.

Sobekneferu · 24/01/2023 23:37

Works for me, I only wash with shampoo when I have to dye the hair once it’s grown out too much, which is between 3 and 4 weeks. Looks and smells great at 3 weeks if you believe me, mum, hubby and friends 🤭
Should say I’m Mediterranean with huge thick 2c hair that is yet to yield to a heat styling product.
Depends on individual hair type, yes, but you can train to a certain extent

chalkyc2 · 24/01/2023 23:53

I have short, fine straight hair in a bob. No way would I ever not wash it in the shower in the morning, or after exercise. It doesn't look great by the evening sometimes - it goes flat and limp.

I have always longed for thicker wavy locks!!

shimmerbubbles · 25/01/2023 00:33

Mine ideally needs to be washed every day, but I usually stretch to every 2 days and on the second day wear it up in a messy bun. My hair is fine and limp and I hate it.

I've tried so hard to train it to go longer between washes but I still can't even get 2 good days.

dontgobaconmyheart · 25/01/2023 01:07

Yes, I do.

It is what it is and I'm used to it. I hate how it feels if I leave it even if it looks fine and I could probably 'get away' with it or use dry shampoo - I'd rather not and always regret it when I've tried because of how it feels.

I do have pretty long virgin hair in good condition and I wouldn't say it's particularly fine (albeit not thick either). It really doesn't take me that long to wash and dry it, I just rough dry and then smooth the ends with GHD's or stick a quick curl in.

Those who do wash every day, I'd be interested to know what shampoo we all use?

HelloBunny · 25/01/2023 01:25

Wash every day in summer.
Wear more hats in winter!

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2023 01:50

Absolutely yes. It's short and very fine and feels horrible if I don't wash it every day. I just do it every morning in the shower. It's very quick to dry and style so no bother.

Oblomov22 · 25/01/2023 03:03

Agreed stretching is bullshit. I've tried and tried, useless. I don't wash it every day now, if I'm working from home, or not every day at the weekend. But I can only manage that once or twice a week, and even then it doesn't actually feel nice. God I hate having shit hair.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 25/01/2023 06:31

I wash it everyday, couldn’t bear not to be clean from top to tail to start the day. Just off to do it now!
