Mitcham deodorant - Has it changed ?

Does anyone think they've maybe changed Mitcham ? I've been using it for a long time ( the push up variety ) but it isn't lasting on me or dh as usual .

Sure Maximum Protection is what you need , I think Mitchum is crap these days.

Dogsgottabone · 22/01/2023 17:44

I used to use mitchum unscented but now it smells of flowers. Boak. And their scents stay on you all day and night so you wake up in the night smelling artificial scents. Boak again.

I switched to Sure but they've now discontinued it, I managed to get 4 bottles in boots and then I'll have to find something else.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 22/01/2023 17:44

I used to swear by Mitcham for anti sweat protection. Been using salt of the earth for a while now and find it good

Totally agree and.......it can be used as a emergency chub rub

Mitchum spray is the only deodorant spray I can use that doesn't give me an awful headache (strong scents hate me) but the spray cans are running out of gas long before the spray is done. I feel like I'm getting so much less for my money now. The cans do not last. Doesn't sound like switching to roll on would be better according to this threat eh?

ColdLittleHeart · 22/01/2023 18:17

They’ve definitely changed something in it. I’ve been using it for years but my latest one has caused a skin reaction, painful rash under both armpits. I’ve had to switch to sure!

VictoriaBun · 23/01/2023 09:00

I've sent them a customer feedback question. Copied below.I
Will report back if I get a reply.

Hello
Have you recently changed the ingredients in
your solid
deodorants ?
I ask this as a regular user and used powder fresh.

I then tried your bamboo range , which does not last on me or my husband. We are currently using the one for men but also find that unsatisfactory.
I am not alone as I posted my concern on an online forum and have had many people reply they feel the same that the quality has taken a downturn recently.

Oh thank you - I thought this was just me. I'll be interested in what they say - I have really noticed a lack of staying power in my most recent roll on. I don't use the bamboo one, just one of the standard green roll ons.

Daffodil77 · 24/01/2023 07:41

I switched from the solid mitchum sticks to the Wild refill ones because I found they just weren't doing the job. I really rate the Wild deodorant. It's a bit more expensive upfront as you have to buy the case but in the long term not much more.

You can do a subscription but I just did a one time order to see if I liked it. I ordered for black Friday so got a good deal but I think there's always offers about.

MountedbyHarryWindsor · 24/01/2023 16:22

I've felt that its very watery compared to how they were before.

VanillaImpulse · 25/01/2023 12:28

They were unavailable for ages because I think their packaging was made in Russia so that had to source new suppliers but not sure if that means the product has changed as well 🤷‍♀️

newbieewbie · 25/01/2023 12:33

The cans are AWFUL but the deodorant is good. I get so angry every time one stops working with 1/3+ still in it.

Mischance · 25/01/2023 12:33

I always use the unscented stick version - I think that there is less and less stick in each one. But it works a treat!

peaceandpotato · 25/01/2023 13:00

The sure cream stick is way better

anon666 · 26/01/2023 00:59

Ugh, I also stocked up after their supply issues, but even in midwinter I'm back to the days of BO. 😬

I've been using it 30 years since uni. 😩 I've never wavered.

I did try the more extreme versions like "Odaban" when I used to get medication related sweating, but they are a real faff. You have to put them on the day before, very carefully, and they can be very itchy or sting badly.

It was Sure & Dove sticks which were made in Russia. Now made in Italy but they still seem to be in low supply.

Mitcham was available when the others weren't

Ponderingwindow · 26/01/2023 02:09

Yes, something changed with Mitchum recently. My DH used to be able to use the unscented without triggering my fragrance allergy. It’s not fragrance free so I can’t touch it wet or use it on myself, but but I as ok when he used it. He used a new stick and I couldn’t get within 10 feet of him without hives.

he had to change brands

shinynewapple22 · 26/01/2023 08:33

AutumnCrow · 21/01/2023 21:22

I used to be very happy with Mitchum unscented roll-on. Now it smells of sweat. Why would I want to roll sweaty smelling liquid onto my armpits?? The other 'flavours' are the same.

I've switched to Sanex.

Yes! I have previously found Mitchum roll on to be more effective than other brands but always had scented. Currently have the unscented and I keep smelling sweat! I'm not even a sweaty person.

U don't think the new fragrances last as long. I know that sounds daft! But when I use the old and tested ones they still work. The new bamboo one was rubbish.

Yes. Same experience.

VictoriaBun · 27/01/2023 19:14

Here we go, I received this answer :

Basically they have not answered my ( our question ) about the product not keeping us fresh, and will fob me off with a voucher.
That does not make me happy and we are no closer in finding out if they have changed the ingredients.

Dh got me some Mitchum sticks from Amazon as I could't find it anywhere. Just coming to the end of the last one and now not sure whether it is worth buying more? I've also got Sure Maximum creamstick thing but it is too good. I am not very sweaty but for at least a week before my period is due my sweat smells, always have. Mitchum kept me dry but more importantly, stopped the smell. I don't want to be stinky!

catfunk · 27/01/2023 19:33

@VictoriaBun the bamboo one isn't an antiperspirant

TheGander · 27/01/2023 20:09

Well Mitcham is the armpit of Merton ….

VictoriaBun · 29/01/2023 11:51

I'm using Sure = not stinky anymore !

Have a look at Fussy deodorant online.
They are the only ones I have ever been able to smell on me at the end of the day.
