A parcel arrived and I have much to report.
The lotus trousers are going back. Very good quality, quite thin material. Great for holidays. But the pattern placement was unfortunate - looked like someone had put a fig leaf over my bits.
Size was my usual Toast. I have xl or 18 in most things and these fitted fine. In about the middle of the range of what gets this size label - neither too big nor too small for me. They are the Toast model with relatively tight waist. But they ended up making me look strangely rectangular over the pelvis - they have much less hip curve than the linen balloon trousers, for example. So a bit hard to style with a top, because I look like a brick standing on end. But on someone with a straighter figure they'd be gorgeous. I might have kept them, had it not been for the way the pattern landed on this pair.
I also got the Bryn Tie Neck Navigation Print Crepe Dress dress, which is utterly wonderful. Really good on curves and bust. Not sure if will take on The Scary Trip for evening wear; if not will save for a wedding in May. This dress isn't an oversized cut, but my usual XL/18 is perfect. Toast, if you're reading, I would commit to buying as many dresses as you bring out in this shape, in all different fabrics and prints.
And the Gathered River Print Dress, which is also very nice, but arrived rather creased and not smelling great. I bought the brown/cream leaf version of this last summer and have been very pleased with it. Back then something had gone funny with the sizing and I needed an L. This time I bought my usual XL and it seems to be exactly the same size as the previous L.
The only thing with those Gathered dresses is that neither lends itself to wearing with tights - I can't think of a tights colour which would work with them. And where I live, an awful lot of the year requires tights.
I also tried an easy t-shirt, which is going back. Too big. I need to try it again and have a think about whether an L would work or whether it's just the style. I find that now that trousers are so high-waisted, I don't really want big tops in the same way.
