@AFingerofFudge Grin probably around 1 or 1:30, can't quite remember...... there was also a jumpsuit (mid tier) that I tried on but didn't fit. Lots of teeny sizes.

mizu · 12/02/2023 18:13

@AFingerofFudge you aren't the 76 year old woman who took the green cord skirt are you?? GrinGrin

AFingerofFudge · 12/02/2023 18:18

@mizu I wasn't her, I was the annoying the staff by asking them lots of questions about the new collection while they tried to sort out Circle customers Grin

I was there around 2.30 I think.

In news about the new stuff, I tried on the gingham dress but I wasn't impressed with the fabric, it felt very thin. It was a shame as I had had high hopes for it.

Snowyowl78 · 12/02/2023 19:07

@AFingerofFudge which gingham one was that?

@ScottishMouse people don’t dress as smart as they used to for job interviews now- a nice top and a pair of trousers is perfectly fine, and your pinafore idea also sounds good.

AFingerofFudge · 12/02/2023 19:12

@Snowyowl78 it was this one. The sleeves ballooned much more than they do on the photos too.

It's hard to know for certain until you're there, but your ideas do sound good @ScottishMouse , good luck!

Your post reminded me of struggling to cobble together an outfit for an interview back in my 20's. Next used to be the go to for horrible suits and this was an important, very smart interview so I'd got something "safe" from there. On the day of the interview I put it on and looked dreadful, but at all the "me" i was trying to sell at this interview, so i then had an 11th hour sweaty session with literally all of my clothes that were suitable for work at the time. In the end i managed to simultaneously wear 3 tops (with a nice skirt). I guess it looked like layering, but in reality I was just stressed and unable to make a decision!

ScottishMouse · 12/02/2023 20:35

Thanks @dudsville ! I hope you got that job!!

Stoic123 · 12/02/2023 20:48

Good luck @ScottishMouse

dudsville · 12/02/2023 20:49

I did! Fingers crossed for you!

ScottishMouse · 12/02/2023 21:00

thanks @Stoic123 !

Noeggsontoast · 12/02/2023 21:44

@ScottishMouse wishing you the very best of luck! I think your suggested outfits sound great. At the end of the day it's you they're interested in, so just be comfortable and be yourself. I work with the uni sector (not academic).

faustina · 13/02/2023 06:37

Fingers all crossed for you @ScottishMouse !

neveradullmoment99 · 13/02/2023 07:10

Good luck @ScottishMouse 🤞

applecatchers36 · 13/02/2023 08:14

Good luck with the interview @ScottishMouse 🍀

Countmeout · 13/02/2023 08:18

Yes definitely wear something you feel at ease in @ScottishMouse and good luck for it.

Aw, thanks everyone! What a lovely bunch you are.

ToastCosILoveIt · 13/02/2023 10:38

Good luck @ScottishMouse!

Reporting back on the midnight loop back jersey trousers and matching easy sweater. I am 12 and ordered the medium and already own the small version in grey. I can confirm that the medium is similar in size to the previous small (bought two seasons ago) so the new Toast sizing in these means you definitely need to buy your regular high street size. The trousers are a lovely fit and manage to skim the tummy and are very flattering.

The medium in the loop easy sweater fits but only just. If they still had a large in stock, I might have ordered it to compare. All that said, it too is a flattering piece, falling to just below where the curve of the tummy starts and with a flattering neckline. It is thin though, as some of the reviews have said on the website.

I am looking forward to wearing them together as spring emerges.

Snowyowl78 · 13/02/2023 11:02

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks for the info on the loop back. I found the trousers same as you. Not tried the top but sounds like that’s smaller than the previous versions too.
I got a reply about alterations, and apparently the info that I saw on the website about shops offering hemming as part of the repair service was a miscommunication! They are going to remove it. Sad news for my short legs.

lordloveadog · 13/02/2023 11:26

A parcel arrived and I have much to report.

The lotus trousers are going back. Very good quality, quite thin material. Great for holidays. But the pattern placement was unfortunate - looked like someone had put a fig leaf over my bits.

Size was my usual Toast. I have xl or 18 in most things and these fitted fine. In about the middle of the range of what gets this size label - neither too big nor too small for me. They are the Toast model with relatively tight waist. But they ended up making me look strangely rectangular over the pelvis - they have much less hip curve than the linen balloon trousers, for example. So a bit hard to style with a top, because I look like a brick standing on end. But on someone with a straighter figure they'd be gorgeous. I might have kept them, had it not been for the way the pattern landed on this pair.

I also got the Bryn Tie Neck Navigation Print Crepe Dress dress, which is utterly wonderful. Really good on curves and bust. Not sure if will take on The Scary Trip for evening wear; if not will save for a wedding in May. This dress isn't an oversized cut, but my usual XL/18 is perfect. Toast, if you're reading, I would commit to buying as many dresses as you bring out in this shape, in all different fabrics and prints.

And the Gathered River Print Dress, which is also very nice, but arrived rather creased and not smelling great. I bought the brown/cream leaf version of this last summer and have been very pleased with it. Back then something had gone funny with the sizing and I needed an L. This time I bought my usual XL and it seems to be exactly the same size as the previous L.

The only thing with those Gathered dresses is that neither lends itself to wearing with tights - I can't think of a tights colour which would work with them. And where I live, an awful lot of the year requires tights.

I also tried an easy t-shirt, which is going back. Too big. I need to try it again and have a think about whether an L would work or whether it's just the style. I find that now that trousers are so high-waisted, I don't really want big tops in the same way.

dudsville · 13/02/2023 15:02

That's really helpful re the new sizing @lordloveadog , and v funny re the placement of the print!

Over the weekend i managed finally to get over my toast withdrawals finally so i decided not to pop in to try stuff on, so it'll be lucky dip for me re sizing.

CureForLove · 13/02/2023 16:10

Just bought this after visiting a real life shop. Very nice once Spring is a bit more sprung. But sizing in this seems no different to last season as far as I can see. Usual Toast size for me... Tried the trousers in the same fabric. Looked liked Andy Pandy's granny.

I agree with you. Check pinafore in a medium arrived today. Perfect fit for me. A medium is what I took in the old sizing. So the sizing is even worse now as some definitely fits with the old sizing and some [ like the loop jersey trousers] have gone down a size. It is even more inconsistent then!
I laughed literally out loud about the placement of the pattern of the lotus trousers @lordloveadog

Bideshi · 13/02/2023 16:58

Also, speaking as a plantsperson, why are they called lotus trousers when they are nothing like lotus leaves? Are they for adopting the lotus position? I think we should be told.
@ScottishMouse I've got a hygienist appointment on the 24th. Is it worth schlepping down to Circus Place, given the dystopic parking nightmare that is central Edinburgh?

ScottishMouse · 13/02/2023 17:18

@Bideshi. I don’t drive (or park) much, but I think you’d be able to get parking not too far away from Toast - further into Stockbridge perhaps, or around the botanics and walk for a few
mins?
