oooh - have they still got the first boots for sale? Off to have a look..

TempleofZoom · 03/02/2023 16:27

I got my Kindred pass renewal.
Prices plus I don't really need anything have held me back.
I don't really want to get into a situation with too many clothes anymore.
I just find I can't see what I've got so never wear it.
Personally I don't like the shape of the t-shirts on me, the neck is too high and I'm too busty for a boy tee
Plus the price 😱

I like fat face long sleeve, beautiful organic cotton, lovely envelope neck and a shaped, French seamed hem.
Gap elbow length and Uniqlo pima cotton.
All lovely quality at a half the toast price .
I love that sleeveless gingham dress linked above
Pondering an order and hoping there will be a Kindred gift soon.

Trinitybean · 03/02/2023 17:28

Re the boots, if you ask them on the chat for items from the sale, they can check if they have them and then send you a link to buy. I'm really hoping a Fracap hiker in a 6 appears at some point.

faustina · 03/02/2023 20:07

Thanks @Trinitybean - that's very helpful. I'm hoping to get to a Toast tomorrow so will be trying on the lug boots and the new clogs for size. So fed up with buying shoes which have sizing issues and then having to send them back again

Trinitybean · 03/02/2023 20:12

Ah yes I got the Solovair derby in a 7 which did seem quite big, re ordered the 6 and they fit. Loving all your helpful tips on here.

OftenOrange · 03/02/2023 20:25

I tried on the pinafore dress in dark grey cotton today, the one with the deep V neck.
I was told it ran very large, I’m usually 8 at Toast and sized down to 6.
It’s really gorgeous, looked great with the lovely Breton , but not for me as the straps were slipping off my shoulders.
Also tried the Mariner denim trousers, too bulky and not flattering , the girls on the Toast film looked fantastic didn’t they.
Fell for that Breton and also the ruffle necked top in the Ochre , brown really but a very fetching brown.
I’m almost giving up on Toast trousers; my nice black denim from last year have shrunk in length and look silly now , cost £125 and bought expecting z3 or more years wear.
I did buy a new. pair of Emma side button denim in indigo, I love them so much
and decided I need a backup pair in case they stop making them.

dudsville · 04/02/2023 07:42

I'm enjoying hearing about your various purchases. It's inspiring me to try the fracap if they go into the next or a future sale, tempted to try to look of them with socks and dresses.

Just wondering when the next sale might be. Last yr I made 4 sale purchases (only kept 1) on March17th, very specific, makes me wonder if it was just a brief sale.

Countmeout · 04/02/2023 08:03

I have mostly elasticated waist (Gabi and Alix) trousers @neveradullmoment99 . they are very flexible with weight variations. The only fixed waist Toast trousers I have are the Annie. Think a need a few pounds off to get into them atm. The rest of the stuff works quite well except for the odd button front dress .

I liked the pinafore dress on the video but think maybe it won’t work with a bust. I am also not sure how it would fit in with the rest of my wardrobe.

Wondering if you are going to an actual shop @faustina if you see the red check trousers could you report on their actual redness and width please?

I think there might have been a weekend sale @dudsville but maybe June , I can’t see any sale stuff bought in March on my account.

@Countmeout - will do!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/02/2023 09:01

I have the annie in a 12. Now I have them in a 14. I really live them!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/02/2023 09:02

Love not live. Strangely the black ones are looser. The indigo ones are slightly tighter.
They are fab trousers.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/02/2023 09:04

Good to know everyone's opinions on weight fluctuations. Oh and yes to the bloody menopause for weight gain @ToastCosILoveIt
Being a woman has never been so fun!

Stoic123 · 04/02/2023 09:13

Checked order history. I didn't buy any sale stuff in March last year- a couple of full priced items.

A lot of sales purchases were made in June- that was a long sale too.

Triggered some fond memories of thread conversations about trivets and napkins as scarfs. I did wear the napkin scarves for a while (bought two) but then repurposed them as furoshiki wraps. Barely used the trivets but they look nice in my kitchen 😂.

Favourite items from that sale were: Loopback Jersey Top, Striped Lace Yoke Sweater (Teal), Circular Tee and two patchwork bundle pouches (so lovely and useful- joy every time use).

My duds (should have returned): Slub Tee in pine green (colour doesn't suit- going to eBay), Cotton Linen V Neck Jumpsuit in Slate (not found cause to wear- but someone on this thread said took them a while to wear then they loved...) and the Cotton Linen Twill Shirt in Slate (a bit boxy for me).

dudsville · 04/02/2023 09:41

Interesting to look back at purchases. Firstly, i learned that i did not buy two tees full price last yr, so that reduces my full price spend even further!

For me it went the other way, there was a top and a nightdress i wish i had kept! I don't have any duds but there are things that get less wear.

I'm getting anxious about moths now that I've invested so much in more expensive cardigans and jumpers. I've made giant lavender bags for now but am wondering if i should put them in those vacuum sealed bags over summer. Does anyone here do this?

Zeusrules · 04/02/2023 09:50

@dudsville I keep knitwear in sealed freezer bags and also pop them in the freezer from time to time as I've read it kills moths/ eggs. But I am quite paranoid about moths.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 04/02/2023 09:52

I only bought full price stuff last March as well, but I didn’t have Kindred then so could it have been a kindred only sale?

I did buy quite a lot of sale things in June / July, but apart from the moss trousers and a couple of tees it was mostly homeware. I use my trivet quite a lot, but it is the knitted blue one so useful for hot handles.

I store all my knit wear in sealed bags, either fabric or 6L plastic.
Anything new goes in a bag and then into the freezer for a few days just in case!

I know not washing knitwear is a thing on here but I never re-store worn garments as the moths bastards love worn knitwear as the smell attracts them.
I also wash in Lakeland lavender wash, it's beautiful and repels the little blighters.

Snowyowl78 · 04/02/2023 10:02

I haven’t washed any of my Toast cashmere or wool, how do you wash them?

TempleofZoom · 04/02/2023 10:17

Snowyowl78 · 04/02/2023 10:02

I haven’t washed any of my Toast cashmere or wool, how do you wash them?

I have a very gentle woolwash setting on my machine but unless you are 💯 per cent sure I would hand-wash in the sink @Snowyowl78

Lukewarm water and a squeeze of lavender woolwash, baby shampoo or the stuff that's no rinse.
Not Woolite, it felts.
Pop your jumper in a just leave it for 15 mins to soak,no rubbing or agitation.
Rinse in the same temperature and gently roll in a towel to remove excess water, dry flat.
It's a bit of a myth that knitwear doesn't need washing.
That refers to the more traditional yarns such as Lopi or gansey type yarns which are still quite heavy in natural oils , i.e smell sheepy.
They are usually a really heavy garment worn with several other layers next to the skin.
They were worn to keep people warm in extreme outdoor conditions such as fishing or herding and so it was not recommended to wash them very often and it would be difficult to dry them.

Noodle421 · 04/02/2023 10:31

@dudsville Clothes Doctor do some lovely products including a cashmere/wool hand wash and also knitwear sprays to refresh jumpers but which also act as a moth deterrent ( one of them is quite strong and I spritz my wardrobe with it regularly) . I try to wash my jumpers once a year immediately prior to packing into a sealed bag and stored over the summer season. (I use Lakeland clothing bags - each fits up to approx 3 medium weight jumpers). I bung in a few lavender sachets/cedar balls or Lakeland anti moth product and hope for the best. I’m a little bit obsessive because we had a moth infestation a few years ago. Ruined some lovely clothing including my husband’s wool coat. I try to air my wardrobe and clean it out every few weeks ( easy, because it’s not big !) Moths love dark, undisturbed areas…

Snowyowl78 · 04/02/2023 11:16

Thank you @TempleofZoom and @Noodle421
I’m scared to wash my round cashmere ones because they are so perfect.

my email tells me that there was a sale on 17th - 21st March 2022 so that’s what I am hoping for some of the new stuff

Snowyowl78 · 04/02/2023 11:20

Doesn’t look like it was a very good sale as I only bought and kept one thing! The lichen workwear jacket

Snowyowl78 · 04/02/2023 11:29

On the Toast Mayfair instagram someone is wearing the slate drawstring dress and I was just thinking it looks like my sort of thing- then I checked the price! £295! Wtf.

has anyone tried it? Is it very thick/heavy?

Noodle421 · 04/02/2023 11:41

@Snowyowl78 i know, it’s scary the thought of ruining them. I have one cashmere jumper which I’ve had for 5 years. By the end of winter it looks a bit grubby and past its best ( it’s a light colour) but after a hand wash ( as described above) and a gentle de-bobble it looks like new and smells wonderful. I found steam ironing it, spraying with knitwear mist and airing it after wearing in between its yearly proper wash helped to keep it looking fresh through autumn/winter. I know I sound a little obsessive but I’m trying to take better care of my clothing as I’m trying to stick to buy well, buy less after a major wardrobe sort out. Quite hard to get out of my ingrained habit of chucking my clothes all over my floor. Requiring levels of discipline I’m unused to.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 04/02/2023 12:11

@Snowyowl78 the price is Shock but I really want to try that dress as well. I think there’s a better picture on the Kilver Court Instagram.
