Yep, I’m in again with Kindred

Snowyowl78 · 01/02/2023 07:10

Oh dear, it’s the start of Toast dry Feb!
I didn’t even get a panicked last order in on 31st Jan!
I am getting some very last sales parcels today though.
Through Feb I’m going to concentrate on selling stuff to try and generate some of that buying excitement but flip it around to get excited about sales income instead.

Stoic123 · 01/02/2023 07:15

Also Kindred renewal. Most of my clothes purchases have been sale but I use full priced Toast a lot for home stuff and friends birthday/Xmas presents.

Things like socks and, this year, the berry colander, go down well as gifts. This year there was a larger wedding present (as no list) too. For a time, any close friend that moved house got a Cath Guthrie soap dish and some cardamom soap.

Love the home stuff.

Stoic123 · 01/02/2023 07:16

@Snowyowl78 - In it together!

I've got my last gasp arriving today (Plum Check).

dudsville · 01/02/2023 07:53

Happy Dry Toast season to those of us doing it! I feel mostly steady in my commitment to not shop as a general pastime anymore, but it is an adjustment after such a frenzied and prolonged sale The only thing calling to me is the red check trousers, but they're such a niche item and I rarely buy anything full price, maybe 3 things in the last 5 yrs.

I can't get over how much I'm enjoying the sunflower yellow painted falls pjs and botanical gown. Whilst it's true for me that every new pair of toast pjs becomes my favourite, these really really really seem to be my favourite. Also, i wear only cotton and wool, so all my clothes need ironing, and i don't mind... so I've started ironing my toast pjs too...

Countmeout · 01/02/2023 08:30

I went back and tried to count how many full price items I had bought and frightened myself - although it wasn’t that many.
I’m going to try not to buy along with some of you this month. I don’t need anything really and I’ll wait for the navy linen top until March. I will panic though if my size disappears.
I like the idea of this red check trousers @dudsville but have a feeling I won’t like the wideness of them.

I also got my Kindred renewal, so I'm pleased about that.

And it looks like I will be joining in dry February, as the only new thing I really wanted is now out of stock in my size (sob).

Saurus72 · 01/02/2023 09:25

I got re-Kindreded too. Though I have to admit from the ‘thanks’ email subject I thought it might be a little discount code but oh well!

@Stoic123 I have no more parcels to come so will live vicariously through your plum check dress arrival today.

I’m debating (with myself) if I should order the gathered crinkled cotton drift check dress from new spring season
Has anyone bought this?
the reviews look good…plus I have £230 in toast gift cards to spend

I’m weak..very weak
ive ordered the dress I needed
its coming tomorrow

SmaugMum · 01/02/2023 11:32

@Nanasueathome the birthday fairy hereby decrees that any orders made in the week of your special anniversary do not count!

Greenfinches · 01/02/2023 11:41

Hi everyone. I had a quick visit to a Toast shop yesterday. I tried on the side buttoned denim skirt as I loved it in the video, but it didn’t suit my pear-shape figure. It looked good from the back and the side, but from the front it made my hips and stomach look wider than they are. Disappointing, as I had imagined lots of great outfits with it. Size-wise this skirt is just as generous as usual. In fact, my usual size 10 was too loose.

Next I tried the boat neck tee in thorn green and the gathered sleeve tee in soft indigo. Easy basics in shades that suit me. Rather expensive but will get a lot of wear. Definitely “supporting cast” items though, not very exciting. The sizing with these has definitely became smaller. I would normally have taken an XS, but this time S was a good fit. I think they might be a little bit shorter in the body too.

Finally I tried the ruffled collar slubby check shirt in ecru multi. This is really lovely and looks great with denim. Beautiful soft light fabric, and the ruffles add interest and width to the shoulders and chest, which balances my figure. Again, I needed the S this time rather than my usual XS. I didn’t buy, because I don’t want to blow my spring/summer budget before the whole collection has dropped . I do wish they would release it all at once and we could make our choices and move on! Typical of me to buy the two safe choices instead of the one that really sparked joy, but there’s no rush, I’ll bide my time until March, keeping my fingers crossed that the shirt doesn’t go out of stock before then.

There seemed to be less to look at than usual, probably because two rails have now been given over to menswear…

Blossomtoes · 01/02/2023 11:45

I refuse to do that. I won’t buy basics at Toast prices. If I’m spending that sort of money a lot of joy has to be sparked!

SmaugMum · 01/02/2023 11:54

I only ever buy sale Toast these days as the new prices are out of my league but if the rest of you do Frugal February and Misery March, maybe Toast might think about sending out discount codes, like in the good old days?!

I wear dresses most of the time so they are kind of default ‘sparks joy’ items and also I find that my Toast dresses (about 75% of all dresses I own) are very often quite statementy which is great - they make an impact with very little effort on my part.

This past sale was very low key for me and I only bought ‘basics’ - long sleeved t shirts, Falke tights (hard do not recommend) and linen trousers. However these things definitely spark joy for me - the t- shirts (one boat neck and one gathered sleeves) make me so happy when I wear them and I really appreciate the details that make them a joy to wear. That’s new for me and tbh is mainly because I wasn’t drawn to very much in the sale at all. I’d definitely buy more basics like these next sale though - can’t bring myself to spend £80 on a t-shirt even if it is perfect.

Noodle421 · 01/02/2023 12:44

@Nanasueathome I’ve bought the dress and it’s beautiful quality and a wonderful shape. Can easily be worn through all the seasons - thick and lined cotton but wafty enough to be cool in summer. Unfortunately, I’m not sure it suits me although I desperately want it to. I think I look a bit matronly in it. I’ll wait a day or two before deciding whether to return it.

Noodle421 · 01/02/2023 12:47

I bought the Breton top and it’s a keeper. I adore stripes and this works with almost every item in my wardrobe. Lovely flattering neckline, very soft and comfortable. Looks great with my pinafore dress. ££ but I’d rather have one of these than two less good quality tops.

Blossomtoes · 01/02/2023 12:48

I’m the same with dresses. I wear them all the time in the summer, it makes getting dressed so easy - one garment, add sandals and you’re done for the day. My two new needlecord dresses and a few Kin dresses have now made me a winter convert. After years of living in trousers it was initially my Toast dresses that made me change. They’re always the first thing I look at on the Toast site.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/02/2023 12:55

@Noodle421 I was thinking about ordering that Breton top as its reminiscent of one of my favourite tops that is now so worn it's been relegated to painting duties. It sounds like its worth its ££ price. How is it for sizing? I usually have a M in Toast tees, occasionally a S.

Stoic123 · 01/02/2023 12:57

The last gasp Plum Check Dress is a keeper - just very wearable and flattering. Echoes a lot of feedback on this thread. Heading into Dry Feb feeling happy.

I agree on tee shirts. Bought 2 Toast fine stripe long sleeved tees (blue and henna) last year. They have been worn and washed loads and the quality is really holding up. I feel happier wearing them than I do other tee shirts in my wardrobe.

@Saurus72 - I tried the Falke tights too and not a fan.

Noodle421 · 01/02/2023 13:06

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I usually buy small in Toast tops and size 10 in toast shirts ( I’m closer to a 12 than an 8) and stayed with the small size again and it’s a good fit. It would’ve bagged at neckline if I’d gone for a medium. It’s quite fitted towards the waistline but still very comfortable ( I have a bit of a tum but it doesn’t dig in) which works well for its use under a pinafore.

Blossomtoes · 01/02/2023 13:16

You’re never going to convince me on tee shirts, I’m still wearing some JL ones that are at least five years old and still look like new! 😂

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/02/2023 13:22

Thank you @Noodle421 I think I’ll go with the M as I don’t need it to fit too neatly.

MiracleToast · 01/02/2023 16:57

I remember they did a 25% offer off fair isle stock before Christmas.. I wonder if they’ll do similar with a collection in Spring? That would be nice...

dudsville · 01/02/2023 18:24

The 6 packages i sent back via RM Saturday have all been refunded this evening. That's great processing.

I agree re falke tights. I learned about them on here so stocked up in 6 pairs of the damn things (2 brown, 2 navy 2 grey). They're warm and comfy but they are not going to last as long as I'd assumed i also bought 3 pairs of their strigging socks and the most frequently worn are also starting to show wear. This is the first season for these items. Not impressed.

As for toast tees, I've got 5 fabulous ones, stripey things that always get compliments, and i have 4 basics that I'm trying to learn to layer.

I also totally agree re toast dresses but i haven't learned how to wear them in winter, that seems to be what my toast skirts are for!
