Anyone been re-kindreded today? It’s always a relief as it saves on postage.

Stuck in my concrete cords so far this week. It’s got very cold again. Rotation of cashmere mix jumpers and long sleeve tops.

I assumed once Kindred always Kindred 🤔

Gonegrey31 · 31/01/2023 19:19

Yes me , very welcome nice email !

Noeggsontoast · 31/01/2023 19:30

Me too. Just checked my email. I had wondered when it might arrive.

MiracleToast · 31/01/2023 19:32

I am newly kindred-ed! So exciting, although I actually purchased the post pass just before Christmas. But I still feel joyful! Do they randomly send gifts when you purchase?

faustina · 31/01/2023 19:34

Me too! And I made a point of wearing a Toast tshirt today, though no-one could actually see it under my jumper. I'm still in a sort of winter fashion hibernation where a big cashmere jumper goes over everything, though I did have bare ankles with trainers (not completely voluntary since a treadmill fell on my foot). I also wore a big heavy cotton mac which I bought from Monki instead of a wool coat, and then some Levi's made and crafted barrel crop jeans, and a navy cashmere jumper - so only a bit Toast

Still humming and ahing about whether to buy the olive lug boots.

I haven't bought anything from boden for years - I think they fit their clothes on people with a different body shape to mine so it was always a disappointment with one or two exceptions. Seasalt is similar - always looks lovely on the website (the stripey tees and the trousers) but rubbish on me

Stravaig · 31/01/2023 19:36

Nope, I've just been de-Kindred-ed!

I didn't buy anything in 2022, so it may be based on purchases rather than longevity of custom (since the very beginning for me).

MiracleToast · 31/01/2023 19:41

@faustina i also have my eye on the lug boots. If you decide to go ahead I’d love to hear how they fit. I saw them in store but didn’t try on, regrettably, as I was on a mission at the time.

MiracleToast · 31/01/2023 19:42

That’s sad @Stravaig, I’m sorry to hear that

Stoic123 · 31/01/2023 19:48

@MiracleToast - they send out something a couple of times a year with purchases. You'll hear about it on this thread (and then get an urgent urge to buy something).

Last year was a scarf and a Xmas garland. The 2nd item resulted in me buying a heap of Xmas decorations - so the marketeers know their targets well.

MiracleToast · 31/01/2023 19:51

@Stoic123 It already has me contemplating what’s next - and this is after my stern talk to myself once the sale ended 🙈

MiracleToast · 31/01/2023 19:53

Also I hope it’s the paper palm with the little gold bells they send out as I loved that but missed out

faustina · 31/01/2023 19:54

@MiracleToast - will do! I would like to try them first because my old bloodstones were a 5.5 and they don't do half sizes in Toast. I am a bit fed up of going to my local Toast with a trying on list and finding they don't have my size though

@Stravaig - sympathy on being de-kindreded. I was de-Brora-d for the most recent sale, even though I bought a Brora jumper but it was from John Lewis

Stravaig · 31/01/2023 20:20

@MiracleToast @faustina Thank you lovelies! I shall continue to live vicariously through this thread.

The psychology of it is odd though. If a customer has drifted away, then we're more likely to be lured back by early sale access and free postage. When we're not buying, we're also not costing anything in postage or Kindred gifts. I'm hundreds of kilometres from the nearest shop, so I've never attended a Kindred event. It just seems low investment for Toast, to keep a sense of involvement and community.

It doesn’t seem right to offer sympathy in the present state of things .
This is all new to me , I was made K at the beginning , have received a couple of little gifts with purchases but don’t know about e mails as have never checked ( have diff e mail for Toast, long story re BT )
So did you get an email saying you’re off the list?
It starts to feel very unkindred if you have to buy non stop . Especially not in line with this ‘’ sustainability, repair, re home blah blah blah ‘’
My huge gripe with Toast is that I feel all this nice hygge ethical thing is only skin deep,

lordloveadog · 31/01/2023 20:29

Agree @Stravaig, seems odd strategy.

No kindred message here, though I've bought enough of their stuff. On other hand I do seem to have got free postage, even abroad.

Today was a not-even-really-getting-dressed WFH day so I'm in dog-walking trousers and a woolly Toast dark blue pullover with a blue and white snowflake pattern from a sale a while ago. It's quite long so good over dog leggings and warm, which is needed up here in the frozen north. Adds a little class to slob outfit.

Blossomtoes · 31/01/2023 20:49

I’m guessing that to qualify you have to buy at full price? Because my six purchases in the last six months don’t seem to count - two from Llandeilo and four in the sale, totalling £415.

Stravaig · 31/01/2023 20:57

@OftenOrange Email politely informed me that my Kindred membership had come to an end and invited me to a buy a Toast Post Pass instead 🤣

@lordloveadog Free international postage is nice - though I suppose it doesn't sway customs? The unpredictable sizing must be infuriating.

You all sound so cosy. I'm in head-to-toe woollens, leggings from Dilling, merino-silk thermal from Hanro, an Icebreaker top layered over, plus an ancient oversized jumper from Finisterre which reaches my knees. Thick socks from Corrymoor, and wristwarmers from Brora (which I really must darn, or felt). Apologies for no Toast!

ilovecherries · 31/01/2023 21:22

I did get the kindred mail, I’d have probably bought the post pass if not as the bar for free postage is high. Although given their prices, maybe not!

I’ve just qualified. Over the past year I’ve spent nearly £700, only £230 of which was on full price items. I’m pretty sure I will be chucked out next year as a lot of my purchases were in Llandeilo.

Zoetrope1 · 31/01/2023 21:28

What’s the spend minimum to qualify?

Firesideknitting · 31/01/2023 21:43

Oh wow, a lovely email saying I’m kindred … have to say I’ve spent a small fortune since may (went up a size).. mind I have to say I’ve never paid for shipping, just placed a beautiful order today.. jacket, couple of tops and some trousers. I really enjoyed the sale and bagged a few good items, we’ve just moved house so looking for some sweet bedding for the guest rooms.. I’d be interest to know what the minimum spend is for kindred ?? Loved the catch up reading

applecatchers36 · 31/01/2023 21:45

Sorry to hear that you have been ex Kindered Stavaig that's rubbish!

Am also embracing cosy WFH wear today, in Uniqlo thermal base layer, leggings, Denim Toast tunic dress and Toast wool FairIsle socks

TerrierOrTerror · 31/01/2023 22:10

I have been made a Kindred member - have only ever bought one full price item which was way back at the very start of January 2022. Everything else has been much loved sales purchases.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 31/01/2023 22:14

All the talk of kindred made me panic, no email at all. Just checked, my kindred doesn’t expire until the end of July Smile .

SmaugMum · 31/01/2023 23:24

Happily, I also retain my Kindred status! I love it as I am so Yorkshire that I hate paying delivery charges for anything. I am so sad that I love the excitement of individual sales parcels in the utilitarian brown paper sacks which are recycled into gift wrapping or for my six-year-old’s art ‘masterpieces’. I have no significant other so there’s no parcel monitor living here and my Toast habit is a secret between me and my lovely postie who gets a very handsome Christmas box each year; so he will never tell! 😅
