I’m actually regretting not ordering the cornflower dress because I really love the trousers. Hopefully it will turn up in a future sale. I flatly refuse to buy anything unless it’s in the sale.

OftenOrange · 30/01/2023 18:30

Thank you to those fans of the plum checked shirt dress; mine arrived this morning and is a real hit . I wore it for a gallery visit paired with Toast boxy cashmere cardi in a deep gold from the wardrobe and chunky brown Chelsea boots. I haven’t worn a dress in Winter for years , being a committed wide trouser fan , so am thrilled to have a different look that feel cool and comfortable.
I’ll be returning the Fairisle pullover and the barrel leg cords , not sure about the long tie neck needle cord top which is so beautifully made in the softest needle cord . I can’t decide if it is a good look on me ,so if anyone can give me feedback on styling I’d me grateful.

Blossomtoes · 30/01/2023 18:36

It was the only thing I sent back @OftenOrange. I couldn’t work out how to wear it either.

TerrierOrTerror · 30/01/2023 18:41

Last gasp order is a fail from me.

I ordered both the top and dress in the Landscape Check. I love the material but neither fit well. The S in the top is too small and yet the XS in the dress too big.

The Solovair Boots I didn't try on, I think they are appalling quality. Visible glue marks, one side is scuffed and they've been packed so the tongue in one is folder with a very obvious crease developed. I also don't think they are quite tall enough for my wardrobe style. Any suggested for lace up leather boots made in the UK (preferably Northamptonshire) would be great!

SmaugMum · 30/01/2023 18:43

So, I am absolutely loving my Fracap hiker boots in Olive (which is more a Barbour green colour, I would say), my high-neck parka in Olive (which is more of a fresh, zingy green) and I’m thrilled with the men’s long-sleeve Breton tee in Tangerine; I think Toast men’s tees may be the way to go for me as I am 5’ 9” with a long torso and I find that the woman’s tees are just two to three inches too short for me. I really like the citrus shade and this will be worn non-stop, both under my Fair Isle sweaters, and on its own as the weather warms. (I wish Toast would do a lightning returns sale once everything was back in as there are a few items mentioned here that passed me by but sound right up my street.)

@TerrierOrTerror check out Cheaney boots (the sale might still be on) or Trickers (who make for Margaret Howell). I have bought a pair of Trickers black derby shoes in my local TK Maxx in the last couple of months.

AFingerofFudge · 30/01/2023 18:52

My last gasp orders have come through. I bought the needlecord dress in the chalk white but this time in a small (which I'm not, I'm a RL 14) but it fits much better. The Peaks green dress is going back, the fabric feels awful. I also bought the gabi cords in the pale grey colour and they did nothing for me so they are winging their way back.

I discovered that a new work colleague is a big Toast fan so at last I can have a good Toast conversation at work! She too has done a heavy bit of sale shopping so we compared orders.

ScottishMouse · 30/01/2023 19:15

My last gasp orders are also going back. The Shetland wool Lacey sweater is just too itchy next to my skin. The firewood jacket was far too wide and made me look enormous. And sadly the navy wool tee, which would have otherwise been perfect, was oddly misshapen at one shoulder so just didn’t sit right.
I’m pretty pleased with my sale haul though - two neat cashmere sweaters, a couple of baskets, and the orange heathery sweater. All will be worn/used loads.

I’m debating (with myself) if I should order the gathered crinkled cotton drift check dress from new spring season
Has anyone bought this?
the reviews look good…plus I have £230 in toast gift cards to spend

Laska2Meryls · 30/01/2023 19:55

@Nanasueathome , its your birthday isn't it ? Happy birthday!

Countmeout · 30/01/2023 19:59

@AmethystMoonShine you see I have tried looking other places and am turning my nose up at most stuff when I compare and keep coming back for Toast. I want the navy linen top, thought I’d found similar on M and S but it’s polyester so not for me. The only things I’ve bought which are non Toast in the last year is a pull on jersey dress ( admittedly Marks) , a linen coat ( Arket) the Sideline waistcoat( small boutique type shop) and one of those ubiquitous lightly padded jackets (And other stories) . I can’t get on with Cos sizing at all. I went through a Boden phase about 7 years ago but currently not wearing that style of thing any more.
I also don’t have those shops anywhere near me so I just might be able to find something if I did but I also like online shopping as it gives me time to try on and think about how something fits in my wardrobe. And the Fir dress that I got at the weekend reminded me just why I love Toast. I don’t believe I could find something of the same quality anywhere easily.
Sorry the concrete cords didn’t work for you @AFingerofFudge , they’re one of my favourite things. But envying you have a fellow Toast person to talk to irl.

Thank you
My elder son was still amazed that I wanted Toast vouchers..he thought I’d be all spent out!!

Laska2Meryls · 30/01/2023 20:30

Men..... They know nothing! @Nanasueathome 😂
Id love Toast vouchers but have never received any, sadly ...But my DH has bought me several Toast things now and he pretty much knows what id like.. Id not trust my DS to though! He usually goes for the artisan Gin default, which is also good ...😃

Nanasueathome · 30/01/2023 20:34

The Toast gift cards are the best as they come in little cloth drawstring bags. I’ve used them for money gifts for others and they love them

MiracleToast · 30/01/2023 21:04

Oh how I’d love a toast gift card. Here’s hoping someone will gift me one this year...

Today I had a work appointment and ‘shopped my Toast wardrobe’, as you say; lichen carpenter trousers, lilac shirt, lilac wool cashmere sweater, with fracap olive boots and toast socks. Felt very bright and lovely in an otherwise grey drizzly Scottish January day.

I am feeling quite content with Toast and can’t seem to find anything else that compares, so I’m happy to await sales and look after what I’ve got.

The bronze silk shirt will be having its first outing at the weekend for a girls dinner (hen party, yikes) and I plan to wear it with ecru carpenter jeans (got both carpenters in the sale in summer), my trusty fracap olive boots which I wear literally everywhere, and some gold jewellery to highlight the bronzy sheen.

It’s nice to read how you all are wearing your prized Toasts.

lordloveadog · 30/01/2023 21:23

Happy birthday to the recent birthdays!

Final sale purchases arrived here today - that undyed wool blanket and a patchwork cushion cover. Both just right.

I've tidied my wardrobe and moved things i don't really wear to cellar storeroom so I can see the things I actually do want to choose between. Feels very grown up when I look in it.

Also cast some more flowery seasalt dresses into the sell/donate bag.

Do you mean this one? I’ve been l looking at that one, I need to go to a shop to try cos I’m really not sure of the new sizing.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/01/2023 22:24

I think I’m definitely in a Toast phase at the moment, I can’t really find anything to compare either. I’ve gone through several phases over the years, Boden quite a few years ago, Seasalt more recently (I still buy some of their socks and coats for dog walking), Joules at one time too.

My shopping is mostly online as well, my nearest Toast is over 2½ hours away by train. I would really like to be able to go to an actual shop more often as it’s the best way of finding things that you wouldn’t normally look at. Also I like being able to look at all the fabrics in one go. Obviously the answer is to move house 😄.

AFingerofFudge · 30/01/2023 22:37

Toast is definitely my number one choice too, interspersed with a little Hush, Cos, H&M and Sweaty Betty. That's it really, I don't even bother looking anywhere else.

I remember about 15 or 20 years ago getting excited for the Boden new season releases!!!

I remember that too! I used to adore Boden and wait eagerly for new releases. Johnny and I drifted apart about 12 years ago though. Not sure if it was him or me that changed but I woke up one catalogue and realised we were living on memories with nothing in common anymore. Sad days. He still gives me the odd nudge to let me know he’s still out there for me, but I haven’t responded for many years.

Bideshi · 31/01/2023 11:03

I'm ancient so I have to be careful of anything vaguely retro ('if you wore it the first time....) Having said that I'm partial to a bit of vintage and still wear things that have been in my wardrobe since sometime in the last century.
I do Toast, Cos, bit of Kin, very occasionally Brora although it's ridiculously expensive and quite mumsy often. Despite being allergic to wool I'm a knitwear fanatic and have a good local posh woollies shop that has gorgeous Harley and Eribé as well as arty scarves and shawls. Then a bit of ethnic and stuff picked on holiday. I'm rural Scotland so I'm sure there's much tittering behind my back but life's too short for Roman Originals.

Stoic123 · 31/01/2023 17:21

Well, I didn't put on Toast this morning..... but I'm wearing a Kin dress under a Cos cashmere jumper. So much for any sense of uniqueness 😂. My clan here.

Also an ex of Johnny's - I still mourn the green velvet coat that wore away to shreds.

dudsville · 31/01/2023 18:10

I wore my very brown outfit today - the bitter chocolate fair isle and the acorn cords. I didn't even have an ironic pop of acid yellow or orange peeking out from under, just brown. I like it, it feels a very uncommon combination. As for non toast items in my wardrobe, I have some seasalt fit and flair shirt dresses. 1 cos cords, 2 Thought cords... 2 old favourite seasalt tops that have really seen better days but I can't part with them. And a COS and some arket cardigans... some colleagues have disclosed that they sometimes message one another in video meetings to idenify whether I'm wearing Toast. I think we all know the answer now.

Noeggsontoast · 31/01/2023 18:30

My Toast outfit for WFH today is the Mila Bolete dress with tie neck and navy felted balloon sleeve cardigan (love this cardigan) with M and S thermal top under to keep toasty.

Countmeout · 31/01/2023 19:07

Anyone been re-kindreded today? It’s always a relief as it saves on postage.

Stuck in my concrete cords so far this week. It’s got very cold again. Rotation of cashmere mix jumpers and long sleeve tops.
