Botox - nothing like it
Medik 8 products
Fillers for stubborn crows feet. (Had mine two years ago and still good)

jeaux90 · 10/01/2023 16:03

Oh and UK lash serum. I was a massive cynic but my menopausal lashes grew a lot longer

What lash serum do you use?

Frogdinner · 10/01/2023 17:50

Loving 🥰 this thread.

Botox for me, it is the best and gives my face that open fresh look.

Also Margaret Dabbs foot hygiene cream. My feet are always dry but just one application of this and my feet are much softer.

Crystal retinol is fantastic stuff.

Loads of you saying Botox, but where do you find it most effective? Has anyone had a lip flip? My top lip is thinnish and I’m very tempted by that and a Botox brow lift.

Most effective in forehead lines, vertical 11s and horizontal lines.

Kitcaterpillar · 11/01/2023 14:23

And crows feet. I find my eyes look so bright and awake (which they absolutely are not!)

NuckingFightmare · 11/01/2023 15:25

Would a brow lift cover those areas? Total novice here!

peanutbutt · 11/01/2023 18:06

Microneedling is fabulous for reducing the appearance of large pores. Different serums can be used to tackle skin issues. It can reverse scarring - acne scars ( ice pick and box scars). I use anti hyperpigmentation serums and Hyaluronic acid serums. It's fabulous. Used along Botox, it is really is effective.

A Botox lip flip is subtle and can treat the peri oral lines. It doesn't hydrate though, the same way fillers may. It pushes the lip out a little. I treat clients with this if they don't want fillers. A few clients have public facing roles and don't want lip treatments to be noticeable.

Botox can be administered to give a brow lift. It opens the eyes. A lovely technique.

Now, radio frequency is excellent as well. Thought I'd throw that in the mix as well 😂

GarlandsinGreece · 11/01/2023 18:17

Botox, RF micro needling (ideally with PRP built in).

NuckingFightmare · 11/01/2023 18:56

Thanks @peanutbutt

I'm curious about the recovery time for this procedure. Do you mind telling us how it was for you and how you chose a doctor? Thank you!

Hi happy to respond to your questions!

So firstly, I went through my GP to see if I could get a referral as dropping eyelids were (slightly) affecting my eye sight. GP approved HOWEVER when I logged into the health authority website to begin the process the wait time was 71 weeks. So that was the end of that. GP had said private treatment was probably the best route. I have Bupa through my work so asked them for a list of consultants in my area - Bupa don't cover it as it's cosmetic but I knew that anyone carrying out work for them should be ok.

From the list spoke to spire and another independent more local clinic. Made a few initial enquiries and opted for the one local to me. Looked at before and after pics of his work and booked it - 2 week wait. Procedure carried out under local anaesthetic - took 45 mins. Awful bruising if I'm honest for 5 days - wore dark glasses - which in December just looks lame! But then it cleared really quickly and I went back to work exactly two weeks after the op. A bit of scarring but its not too noticeable and should be gone in a couple of months.

Honestly I'm so pleased and I love how my eyes look. I'm in the West Midlands but happy to pass on details.

goodknight · 11/01/2023 20:07

Oh that’s great that it only took two weeks of wearing sunglasses to cover the bruising. What kind of scars? Do you mind my asking the cost of the procedure?

Grandmistress991 · 12/01/2023 03:22

I watch a YouTube channel called the Honest channel on and off. The lady who runs the channel discusses all manner of things eg best window cleaning machine(where I first found her) but more recently has got into treatments and the like. From what I recall she did an interview with a doctor who suggested that radio-frequency treatments(????) may be responsible for facial fat loss which is counterintuitive to what people want over the longer term. It's actually a great channel and she tries some of the treatments herself with before and afters. I think she thinks hooded eyes are her issue.
Just for those using rf it might be worth checking this out.

I wore the glasses for a week - after that it was fine. Eyelids are still a bit red and there is a line that's dots in the crease of the lid and extends a little to the outer eye. I'm not conscious about it at all. And given that what's happened is that skin has been cut away (1.5 cm along the length of the eye) it doesn't look like that happened just three weeks ago.

Procedure all in was 2350 (judt outside Solihull). Quoted nearer 4k for consultants in the Edgebaston area of Birmingham. I would advise calling Bupa for a list of consultants in your area and then going on website

Good luck. My only regret is I didn't get it done six months ago!

Thank you for the detailed reply. It’s very helpful. 😀

I have just purchased an Oralift, can’t find any reviews on Mumsnet but caught a glimpse of my sagging face yesterday in a shop window and decided to give it a go!

Got a 15% discount so cost was £186 - between that and some of the other suggestions on this page January is turning into quite an expensive month 😀

I absolutely love Botox for banishing my deep forehead wrinkled but can’t sadly can’t have it anymore as it makes my eyes become completely hooded :(
I have just purchased a Nu skin toning device hoping to see some tiny results.

Why does Botox make your eyes hooded?
