just that really! What have you had that has made a real difference, what have you had that you thought never again

I’m told by my Botox dr that most women like an eyebrow lift with Botox. I, on the other hand, hate this look on me, so he puts a bit in my outer brows. He says that for people with hooded or slightly hooded eyes, this is a bad thing as it makes it worse.

I don’t have any eyelid hooding (yet) and I like my eyebrows to stay where nature intended them (but with a line free forehead)!

StarCourt · 14/01/2023 18:25

i have medical botox for migraines but it makes my eyes so hooded too.

DillDanding · 14/01/2023 18:26

I was asking my Botox dr about a lip flip. I don’t want it, but was interested to hear if it’s popular. He said it’s great if you have smoker’s lines, but wouldn’t recommend otherwise.

Luckystar7jf · 14/01/2023 19:20

Hi because it relaxes the muscles so I have been told so it cause dropping

I'm the same. I don't want an arched brow I want them to stay where they are!

I don't think it causes them to be hooded, just that your eyes get more hooded with age! But that's something I'll just have to live with.

Luckystar7jf · 14/01/2023 20:56

Mine def drop so much more after Botox. Guess depends if they are already hooded which mine are.

DuncanBiscuits · 14/01/2023 21:31

This is interesting, as I naturally have one hooded eye (thanks, Mum!) and Botox sorts it out!

Isabelle70 · 15/01/2023 06:18

@Tickledpickle if you have any slight hooding it can make it worst as the Botox relaxes the muscles on the forehead so everything can drop.
I no longer have Botox on my forehead as I had noticed it on my eyes, they are a bit hooded due to age.I only have 11's and crows feet now.

Wouldn’t ever have profhilo again. Like op found it expensive and didn’t notice anything.

Botox and a bit of filler, works wonders.

Another saying profihlo was pointless- saw no difference at all.

Treatments that have transformed my appearance:
Botox
Fillers
Dermalux MD (this also cured my husband's weeping psoriasis in only 2 days- literally miraculous)
Morpheus 8
Products: trentinoin (cheap) and biologique recherche P50 (very expensive but clears spots, acne, and tones skin like nothing ive ever experienced)

This thread is great and will be costing me a lot of money in the near future!

I am 42 and would like to try micro needling, maybe light botox and fillers. However, I look quite young for my age. Should I hold off until I 'need' the botox and fillers, or is it better to do before more signs of ageing show? And can anyone recommend a good practitioner in London or Surrey?

Also, I have not yet tried retinol. Should this be done before / instead of botox or can you do both at once?

Sorry, I am a bit of a novice!

I am not expert but I would say if you have no immediate concerns I would start with Tretinoin rather than a product with retinol in.

I use skin and me and love it. Some people prefer Dermatica or others. It takes a long time to see proper results so I would start sooner rather than later.

If you are happy to go down the Botox route, I think it’s balancing act. If you wait too long, you could have deep wrinkles that will take age to disappear or won’t disappear completely. But too early and there’s not much visible effect.

Fillers depend on your face and wether it’s losing definition, imo.

Had microneedling yesterday inspired by this thread! Signed up for a package of four so I’ll have the next session in five weeks. My goal is collagen induction. Not a very pleasant experience but cheaper than Profhilo which was useless for me.

Charl1009 · 15/01/2023 11:50

@Chicci1 Please update with your results I’m really considering micro needling as I have large pores and some scarring however it’s around £500 for 3 sessions so trying to justify it!

@Thighlengthboots

I've used Biologique Recherche P50 in the past, but their website specifically says not to use with Retinols. Do you use both without a problem? Thanks!

Its probably because they're both chemical exfoliants- if your skin is tender from a retinol, using P50 afterwards might sting and be too harsh.

I would never use them together on the same night but have alternated them one night and then the other no problems at all- both give amazing results!

Delatron · 15/01/2023 15:54

What results did people have with Morpheus 8? Did it tighten the skin?

I saw a difference with profhilo but I know many don’t. I think injection technique is important (not too deep) and it’s very subtle. I’m hoping it’s a long game too but I struggle to recommend it as it’s hit and miss for many.

Tear trough fillers were my game changer. And they are still going strong over 2 years later. Fillers last a lot longer than the experts claim. This could be why people end up overfilled? The cynic in me thinks it all a ploy - tell people fillers only last 12 months ish and they’ll lose perspective and keep coming back and paying for more. I think you can get years out of filler.

Did anyone see that piece by Alice Hart-Davies - she had an MRI scan and had loads of filler left in her face - 20 years worth. She even had more left in than she’d originally had injected in terms of volume. She’d had no fillers for 4 years..
Not saying filler is bad, just be very careful.

Yes! Google before/after photos. You can also use it to heal skin conditions, wounds, and muscle strains as it works at a cellular level

Thank you it’s skin laxity and the usual stuff that comes with aging v keen on a more natural approach if it’s possible

I have lots of before and after photographs from micro needling. I can't emphasise enough how effective it is. Combine that with peels - spaced out safely with two weeks in between each treatment to allow the skin to settle, it's superb.

It will rejuvenate the most sun damaged skin over time.

I always say to my clients that Botox isn't the be all. Skin needs a 360 approach; simply injecting a skin which is sun damaged will just make the issue travel to another area of the skin. Wrinkles will move further down the cheek if no other treatments are being done.

I have a Dermalux and I have to admit, I find it hard to put aside a half hour several times a week to use it. Probably should try to commit to that.

Me too but it was so damn expensive I make sure I use it regularly lol

@peanutbutt can I ask please - will micro needling remove old and deep chicken pox scars? I'm talking 50 year old scars!! Thank you.
