How many of you wear foundation every day? or should that be, how many of you DON'T?

I know Twiglett doesn't, and I don't (only for parties). I just don't like it (and I am lucky enough to have good skin - although I have chubby cheeks to counterbalance that so don't hate me )

So do you wear it everyday? from what age, and why?

Pure nosiness...

I wear tinted moisturiser every day

maybe some concealer if I have a spot

I dont own a foundation atm

fullmoonfiend · 02/02/2008 12:11

I wear tinted moisturiser as I am very pale but not in a good way. I wear foundation if I am going for a big night out. If I go bare faced people always ask me if I am ill

MissCreant · 02/02/2008 12:15

I go through phases of it. If I am feeling low and my skin looks grey I might have some put on in a shop, think, ooh, I look loads better and wear it for ages and then I forget about it again.

I don't like the way I think I look crap without it so I try to wean my self off, sometimes by mixing it with moisturuiser. Foundation withdrawal I suppose.

fullmoonfiend · 02/02/2008 12:16

MissC, who are you?

yummylittlelapin · 02/02/2008 12:17

Hassled - I use this and have found it much better than creams - it's much lighter (in a vs heavy, rather than vs dark, way) and doesn't look cakey.

I always wear foundation to work, mostly at home too but often not on a Sunday.

I think make up, good haircut and decent clothes helps stop me from being an invisible, fade into the background middle aged woman. Not that I wear bright colour eyeshadow and lipstick though!

I thought you must be...

I don't wear makeup or foundation type stuff, gave up trying it as a young teen. I'd rate my skin as awful, too (since I was about 12). I don'tknow how to apply foundation, and I don't think it would really make me personally look that muchbetter -- not worth the cost or effort, anyway. I also would not look like "me" if I did apply it however you are supposed to apply it. I don't understand what goes into it, or feel safe about thelong term consequences of exposing your skin to those chemicals every day.
It would be one more hassle to have to remember to take it off every night, too.
I have a massive aversion to vanity. I don't care what you do, but it feels yucky to me to do many overt things in the cause of my own vanity.
I do wear sunblock, mind, in summer, but I can believe in the value of protection against sun (reducing wrinkles if naught else).

Pollyanna · 02/02/2008 12:40

I wear at least tinted moisturiser every day. I sometimes wear foundation- but haven't found one that I am completely happy with yet (or I am crap at putting them on).

I feel better with my tinted moisturiser. I'm not sure whether its my age, or because I wear it every day, but if I don't wear it, I have that pasty look these days.

My skin isn't bad, but isn't fantastic.

Hulababy · 02/02/2008 12:42

I normally use a bit of the Virgin Vie one step face base every day, with a hint of colour on my lips and cheeks, courtesy of Body Shop's lipband cheek stain. I don't wear muh more than that for every day wear and work days; just more when going ou.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 02/02/2008 14:15

needmorecoffee - I use Estee Lauder, which uses lab-grown skin for testing but they are still appearing on some animal testing sites. I think Chanel still use animal testing and I do wear a Chanel scent but it's an ancient classic so I would hope it no longer requires testing.

wheelybug · 02/02/2008 14:19

I wear tinted moisturiser every day (along with eye liner and tinted lip gloss). I got used to wearing it whilst working (actually that was foundation). Psychologically I feel less like a scruffy SAHM (not that I am saying SAHM are scruffy - just I was for a while after having dd) if I put on a bit of make up in the mornings. Also, it contains a SPF so its good for you too !! Am 32.

theyoungvisiter · 02/02/2008 14:20

I hate foundation - I can never find one that's right for my skin. I wear moisturiser and (for parties) blusher and mascara.

Pre-baby I used to wear makeup to work - now I wear peanut butter lip-prints!

littledawley · 02/02/2008 14:24

I wear full slap every day! Have done since I was a teenager, many moons ago.

yummylittlelapin · 02/02/2008 17:54

So more "do"s than "don't"s so far then?

OP posts:
clutteredup · 02/02/2008 17:55

I'm lucky to find to clean my teeth in the morning and if i manage moisturiser i find I'm sharing it with DD1, chance would be a fine thing. Apparently, though, when I do make the effort if i go out for an evening 'I scrub up well'

clutteredup · 02/02/2008 17:56

find time - sorry
note to self, include all words

TheBlonde · 02/02/2008 17:59

I don't wear it, far too much effort required
On a good day I put on a bit of mascara

needmorecoffee · 02/02/2008 17:59

so after 25 years of campaigning for non-animal tested make up, women still don't use it, still don't know and still don't care????

expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 18:00

i wear it every day because my skin is horrible - uneven, freckles, bags under my eyes.

NOT a good sight with no foundation.

CaptainCod · 02/02/2008 18:01

yes

CaptainCod · 02/02/2008 18:03

southeastastra · 02/02/2008 18:03
