Packages arrived today and it is turning out to be an expensive sale for me.
Non clothes

  • Keeping: garlands, sketchbook (gift), small hogla basket and beeswax candles (use for 'hostess/host' gifts).
  • Not keeping: Madur place mats (nice but don't quite match rest table setting)
Clothes - Returning
  • Beetroot Almond Neck
  • Terra Stripe Linen Swing Shirt
  • Indigo Easy Shirt - made me look like Henry VIII
  • Collared Loopback Sweatshirt in Conker - liked a lot but colour not perfect on me (will look out for same style in future)
  • Skinny Silk Tie in Ocean Blue - slightly wrong shade for me
Clothes - Keeping (gulp)
  • Navy Collared Half Sleeve (Hamptons)
  • Tretorn Boots
  • Midnight Crinkled Check Dress
  • Round Collar Tee in Dark Moss - useful and flattering (final package is enroute with Cumin version which I will keep if colour looks fab).
  • Alix Trousers in Khaki- dithered but landed on keep
  • Pleated Needlecord Dress in Slate Blue - really don't need/can't justify but it just looks lovely on (instant joy)
  • The Embroidered Kaftan Dress- even at sale price, I really hoped this one wouldn't work but I LOVE it. Not going anywhere. Nah. No siree.
Am not waiting on any further reductions or returns so, bar Cumin, over and out. Did quite like the look of the fluid twill dress in Nasturtium (@MsCFlower just added to FOMO) but bank account depleted...maybe next time if still avail.

What size did you get in the dress? Did you go for your normal toast size?
I got my normal toast size. It's oversized but I love it. I'm a 14 and got the medium. I'm just a bit worried I look silly despite me loving it.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/01/2023 15:26

I.mean the blue cord one?

neveradullmoment99 · 07/01/2023 15:27

Oh hang on., thinking its a different dress you got.
Mine is the oversized shirt dress in cornflour.

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2023 15:28

My indigo twill east shirts in 10 and 8 arrived today. I’m keeping the 8 which is greatly improved by folding back the cuffs. Which is as either suggested on here or in the reviews on the Toast site. I’ve never been an 8 in Toast so this is very much sizing down!
I tried the white and pale blue in 10 and 12 last year and both were far too large. Yet my dark blue one in needle cord in 10 is a great fit not at all huge 🤪
Now just hoping for further reductions but they’ll have to be decent as there’s nothing I’m desperate for.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/01/2023 15:48

I actually love that dress in green @Stoic123
Its now sold out thank goodness. How is the fit? Just incase its in another sale !

neveradullmoment99 · 07/01/2023 15:49

Anyone got the organic workwear needlecord dress that is oversized? Just wondered how oversized you went!

Stoic123 · 07/01/2023 16:01

@neveradullmoment99 - I got the dress in my usual Toast size of 12 (14 in real life). I have bought Toast cord dresses before (e.g. needlecord shirt dress/current cord tunic dress styles)that have been ample in a 10 but this style a bit neater across the shoulders.

faustina · 07/01/2023 16:30

@TerrierOrTerror - I had a look at my belt and I can't see any scratches - mind you, it's been spectacularly useless for me so far - the wrong colour or the wrong width everytime I've tried it. I will make an effort to try again tomorrow and if it still doesn't work, it's going on Ebay (or maybe vinted).

Really enjoying hearing about everyone's successes - especially that lovely dress. I think I've been quite abstemious so far with my sale purchases but am being much more strict this time - only keeping if it's completely wonderful

Surprisingly, one thing I absolutely love is a slouchy alpaca jumper by Brora in charcoal, which you'd think would be really boring (it certainly looks like that on the model) - but it's perfect on me! Also, a men's lambswool jumper by John Lewis in a colour called indigo melange (only 20 quid!) - also perfect

mizu · 07/01/2023 16:46

Peaks print east dress back in an 8 or a 10!! Tempted to try an 8 - looks very oversized in the reviews.

@Stoic123 I have the denim workwear dress and love it. Can't wait to wear in the spring too with sandals.

Loved your list of keeps and not keeps.

mizu · 07/01/2023 17:20

Anyone got the east peaks dress? Some reviews say they sized down 2 sizes!!

Snowyowl78 · 07/01/2023 17:26

@mizu I have it - yes I would say downsize 2 sizes, I am a high street 14 and I have the 10. That said, if you are B-road shouldered or particularly big busted I would maybe only go one size down. It’s the top half that makes the difference, waist doesn’t matter as it’s v loose. If I were you I’d try both!

Snowyowl78 · 07/01/2023 17:29

also, there is a little bit of shrinkage risk so if dithering is go bigger. I have the same dress in the harlequin and the Luna and I think there has been some marginal shrinkage.

OftenOrange · 07/01/2023 17:32

@Theteapotsbrokenspout A shrine to Toast, yes I know the feeling . Mine is a shrine to Toast sales really. I’ve noticed that a lot of previous sales buys are rather odd-sod tops that don’t really segue with my wardrobe , so I’m trying to avoid buying too many of those things this time.
My wardrobe is usually a shrine to one make or another , Humanoid, then Me and Em and now Toast . I’ve bought Toast since the time it was a homespun nightwear affair , then when they started clothes although they looked great they were not successful so I gave it a miss for a decade or two.
I’m sending back the cream collared t shirt with 3/4 sleeves, wore the orange today and it’s fine but not special and the floppy collar doesn’t work under a jacket.
I received the checked wool and cotton dress with the v neck and puffy sleeves, today : unfortunately and unexpectedly I love it , though I will need to learn how to think of a dress as an everyday casual item.
As the dress is very long I reckon the ankle socks and chunky boots look will be in my comfort zone.
Still waiting for the Peaks dress, so far unfulfilled.
For someone who lives in dungarees , Emma jeans or jumpsuits I’m getting the feel for frocks!

T w

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2023 17:41

@OftenOrange I don't think I’ve quite reached the shrine stage but hopefully eventually Wink . That was Stoic123 , I think the posts are sometimes getting muddly where we keep referring back .

mizu · 07/01/2023 17:55

My clothes rail is definitely a shrubs to TOAST, especially dresses!!

Thank you @Snowyowl78 very useful info, not very busty so will try 6 and 8!

mizu · 07/01/2023 17:56

Shrine !!

I ordered it but sized up to 16 !! Oh well . ... We'll see.. But I do have rugby players shoulders wide ribcage and am busty ( I make myself sound so good here, eh?) ... The luna dress in 14 same style was just a tad too snug in the bust .. it fitted but not the loose look that I wanted ... If its no good ill send it back

dudsville · 07/01/2023 21:18

I also have quite the toasty (80/20) wardrobe, but Toast or not, i love every item and it's such a pleasure getting dressed!

I've been creating this over the last 6 ish years. I know this is going to sound obvious but I think my wardrobe is full now, not uncomfortably so, but i dont want to get to that point. I started from scratch and just did a count 20 tops, 17 trousers, 16 dresses, 4 skirts, 8 cardigans, 4 jumpers. All the seasons are covered as well as the range of activities in my life. I think i need to change how I do toast sales now and recognise that I'm no longer building a wardrobe. That's going to be hard!

Stoic123 · 07/01/2023 22:33

@dudsville -That's lovely (your wardrobe love).

I need another wave of culling to see the wood for the trees. I'm planning a large eBay sale in early Spring and the local hospice shop will benefit too.

I will take stock then but am probably in a similar situation to you.

Firsolya · 08/01/2023 08:14

Hi OftenOrange, I am looking forward to receiving the checked wool and cotton dress with the v neck and puffy sleeves. Would you say it is true to size? It looks oversized on the model. I am size 12 Toast in shirts and have ordered 12 (size 10 was out of stock). Would you say it can be worn with a cardi? Ta!

I took an 8 which is my usual Toast size , and it’s a perfect fit . It definitely isn’t one of their crazy big pieces.
The sleeves are very voluminous and IMO make it special, I tried it with the jumper from the same parcel and it was fine.

I’ll try it with a Toast cardi later and let you know . Good luck with the dress !

Great! Thank you for letting me know! Fingers crossed it will work! I was after a nice winter dress for some time!

Anyone got the silk ochre border dress? I got it today and I am in 2 minds. It’s beautiful and fits great but I wonder if it’s a bit high maintenance! It’s hand wash only and it feels very delicate. Looks amazing though!

@Snowyowl78 that is one I have been considering too. I am wondering if it would fade with washing.
