I am holding out too! A few things I’m hoping will be reduced still have all sizes available so that could be likely. Fingers crossed!

AmethystMoonShine · 06/01/2023 19:17

I’m loving my small hogla basket and it’s been put to use as a kindling basket in our i glnook. Also keeping the Longpi tea light holders which will go in our dining room I think.
I’ve yet to try on the Chie Mihara (probably spelt incorrectly) chunky sandals but the leather is beautifully soft so I have high hopes. They are expensive though compared to my usual saltwaters…

TerrierOrTerror · 06/01/2023 19:24

I have a few items I am still interested in, but again holding out a little while longer.

To those who have the brown jeans belt, do you find the quality ok? Went in store to look today but the one they had was very scratched. I don't mind it looking distressed/worn but deep and obvious scratches put me off. The black both looked and felt more robust, but I have less need for a black belt.

faustina · 06/01/2023 20:23

They must be in such a muddle at Toast with all the delays. I'm still waiting for one refund from ages ago, but it's partly my fault because I muddled the return labels. Will have to sort it out on Monday I think.

@TerrierOrTerror I think I have that belt - I'll hunt for it tomorrow and let you know

My sideline billy trousers arrived today and they're amazing - I'm so pleased with them! The length, which I was worried about being a short arse, is perfect and the tobacco colour is beautiful. Would thoroughly recommend!

I might be tempted to buy one more thing if it reappears at a lower price. Otherwise not.

ScottishMouse · 06/01/2023 20:30

Just googled those trousers @faustina and they look fab! What size did you get? I am now eyeing them up!!

faustina · 06/01/2023 20:35

@ScottishMouse - I got XS and they fit perfectly, but would fit a range of sizes as they're elasticated. It's hard to find a wide leg crop that doesn't look overwhelming on me - in fact I never have until now. My first buy from Vinted too - an absolute bargain! I'd been stalking them in the sales and they have them in stock in some small indy shops but had sold out in Sideline

ScottishMouse · 06/01/2023 20:40

Thanks @faustina!

My refund from 30/12 appeared today but not the return from 23/12.
Did the chat option and they have just refunded it!

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2023 05:19

I’ve got that brown belt @TerrierOrTerror but I’ve only worn it a couple of times as it was a Christmas present. No scratches as yet. I’ve had the black one for over a year and that’s good as new and I wear a lot. Only marks on that are on the leather where it’s dented from the buckle which is normal for belts. Mine seem to be the same quality wise.

dudsville · 07/01/2023 07:29

I also have the belt but it's too new to comment re distress marks, and i don't have the black one to compare it with, but it seems to me to be good quality for £59. I shopped around a lot before buying. There's a standard brown belt at John lewis, but the colour irl was a bit red/purple for my needs.

Really prompt refund this morning for parcel I posted on Wednesday by Royal Mail.

MsCFlower · 07/01/2023 12:11

Four parcels from my order on the 29th arrived today. Am definitely keeping the tie-neck fluid twill dress which I am delighted with (in green). Am now tempted with the Nasturtium one too although not a colour I usually wear. Wondering if the colour in the pic is accurate. The cotton linen dogtooth trousers are lovely so am undecided on these. The loop back jersey trousers are not flattering on me so are going back.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2023 12:19

I received my latest parcels today. The napkins in ice blue are lovely, a greenish colour, I was a bit worried as some reviewers had thought they were more grey.
The Almond neck tee in stone green suits me much more than the beetroot but I’m not sure if it goes with anything in my wardrobe.
My biggest disappointment is the Pique jersey shirt. I had my eye on this ever since it came out, but unfortunately the button placement means it gapes just below the bust, and I’m not sure I can live with that. I could sew a popper on, but then I could only really wear it as a shirt, or keep it as it is and just wear it as an open jacket. I think whatever I did it would annoy me so I’m going to have to send it back.

faustina · 07/01/2023 13:03

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - this is what's been putting me off ordering that shirt! Do you think going a size up would work?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2023 13:12

@faustina it’s already oversized on my shoulders so I couldn’t size up, that’s the trouble with being narrow shouldered and big busted.

Noeggsontoast · 07/01/2023 13:24

My final order arrived - socks and the half sleeved collared jumper in navy. Jumper definitely a keeper - smart to wear with trousers and skirts with a nice welt that gives a good waist shape and can be layered for a more casual look. Shall definitely be an easy staple for me.

I have the pique bib front poplin dress in my bag, the fair isle tam and mittens. Just a little bit more of a reduction and I might, just might be tempted.

dudsville · 07/01/2023 13:30

That fluid twill dress is really pretty @MsCFlower , I wish I had a use for it, but I also have a fear of block coloured things when they're light. I don't know what I expect to happen but it's sure to as soon as I try to wear something like that!

It's a sort of dilemma, isn't it @Theteapotsbrokenspout, when something suits but is hard to work in with existing things. I don't often have the energy for this sort of thing but is it worth making a coffee and getting your clothes out for a trying on session to see if it works with stuff you already own?

I had a parcel today too. The garment dyed lined balloon trousers that I thought would be a sure thing, are absolutely not, they're so oversized as to feel akward. The barrel leg cord trousers that I also thought would be fab and that looked to be cut similarly to a pumpkin colour I have from a few years back, are really awkwardly cut, and the quality of the fabric isn't as nice. It's the same fabric for the cord workwear skirt so that was going to be a problem anyway, but it just looks enormous and the light weight fabric just sticks out rather than hanging nicely the way the similar one in denim hangs. I like the landscape linen shirt, but ideally I would try a size down and it's sold out, so I'll sit on it for a bit, try it on again later. Does anyone have this? The shoulder seems are beyond my shoulders by a good inch and I don't think it's meant to, does anyone know? I might contact toast to ask.

Stoic123 · 07/01/2023 13:36

Packages arrived today and it is turning out to be an expensive sale for me.
Non clothes

  • Keeping: garlands, sketchbook (gift), small hogla basket and beeswax candles (use for 'hostess/host' gifts).
  • Not keeping: Madur place mats (nice but don't quite match rest table setting)
Clothes - Returning
  • Beetroot Almond Neck
  • Terra Stripe Linen Swing Shirt
  • Indigo Easy Shirt - made me look like Henry VIII
  • Collared Loopback Sweatshirt in Conker - liked a lot but colour not perfect on me (will look out for same style in future)
  • Skinny Silk Tie in Ocean Blue - slightly wrong shade for me
Clothes - Keeping (gulp)
  • Navy Collared Half Sleeve (Hamptons)
  • Tretorn Boots
  • Midnight Crinkled Check Dress
  • Round Collar Tee in Dark Moss - useful and flattering (final package is enroute with Cumin version which I will keep if colour looks fab).
  • Alix Trousers in Khaki- dithered but landed on keep
  • Pleated Needlecord Dress in Slate Blue - really don't need/can't justify but it just looks lovely on (instant joy)
  • The Embroidered Kaftan Dress- even at sale price, I really hoped this one wouldn't work but I LOVE it. Not going anywhere. Nah. No siree.
Am not waiting on any further reductions or returns so, bar Cumin, over and out. Did quite like the look of the fluid twill dress in Nasturtium (@MsCFlower just added to FOMO) but bank account depleted...maybe next time if still avail.
dudsville · 07/01/2023 13:40

I just googled the pic of the model wearing it and it does sit off her shoulders...

dudsville · 07/01/2023 13:45

I forgot, I also recieved the indigo twill easy shirt in the same package. The fabric weight is really nice, more similar to the white one, but even having sized down it's just so substantial, and not at all billowy, so far too big on me. The person upthread who said they were going for a painter smock effect - I think that's a good call. Also, i read a review that spoke about the white button, and I'd wondered if that would bug me too, but I thought the button was great irl. The blue of it is really nice and really made my skin and eyes shine like nothing I've worn before, so I will look out for things that colour in future.

Stoic123 · 07/01/2023 13:47

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I am a similar shape.

I often have chest gaping problems with Toast - also with other brands. One uniquely Toast issue is gaping/oversized armholes.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2023 14:14

@Stoic123 that is a really good haul you’ve got there, that embroidered kaftan dress is lovely, I’m beginning to wish I’d ordered that and not bothered with the shirts and tees.

dudsville · 07/01/2023 14:17

Oh I missed your update @stoic, that is an amazing dress the embroidered kaftan, what a wonderufl item!

Zeusrules · 07/01/2023 14:40

@Stoic123 I too ordered the embroidered kaftan dress and was on tenterhooks until it arrived this morning, I'm keeping mine and the denim workwear dress. Will there be further reductions?

Stoic123 · 07/01/2023 14:56

The kaftan dress is so distinctive that I'm sure I will be getting lots of double-takes from fellow Toasties when I'm out and about in it. @Zeusrules - the denim workwear dress is a good one too.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - it is a good haul which means a low/no spend few months for me. I reckon, discounting underwear (but not socks) and exercise gear, about 80% of my wardrobe is now Toast. Quite a bit is 2nd hand but too much new. It's like a shrine in there! Trouble is, when I do the 'spark joy' test a la @dudsville, all I'm left with is Toast (with a few Cos cashmere jumpers and coats).

This feels like a safe space to confess.
