I think £95 is Toasts favourite price point! Loads of things are £95 and in the sales a lot is reduced to £95.
I think I’ve become numb to their pricing sometimes!
too much for a tshirt.

dudsville · 04/01/2023 11:02

I know what you mean @Laska2Meryls but I've had it saved since it came out, like@Stoic123 , will buy if it goes on sale.

@Snowyowl78 I can't help you but it is a nice looking garment. I returned the dungarees I'd sought after for so long because I just think it's a stye leap for me. I have ordered the stack check jumpsuit, which is less striking to my eye than dungarees, but am still waiting on that to arive. You like the fit, and you chose it because it speaks to a part of you. Where would you wear it?

Re my pic above and the jacket that iritates me, I think the pocket opening are near the middle zip (or however it fastens). So you'd have your arms folded across you to put hands in opposite pockets? I've clearly been on leave too long and am struggling in the absence of more important irritants.

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 11:31

Yes that tee be on my sale list also..
Tretorn boots:- I put in some insoles ( under the original inner sole) and they are great now.. I think that with my wider feet if I had sized down from my usual 5 I may have regretted it . If you missed them btw ,Country Attire have them here at £60 (Toast were £59) with free postage but you do have to pay for returns

mizu · 04/01/2023 13:24

Tretorn boots = 🥰

I sized down from 6 to 5 and they fit well thank goodness but not sure I could put a thick pair of socks on with them. I think my right foot is half a size bigger than my left. I could probably have got away with the 6 and added an insole like Laska has.

Anyway, wore out today and they are a joy. Now looking at the black ones............

AFingerofFudge · 04/01/2023 13:32

My parcels (all 3 of them!) still haven't been collected from the local InPost drop off, including this one from the 23rd Dec!

faustina · 04/01/2023 13:47

@AFingerofFudge - that's a bit shit! I posted three returns using Royal Mail last Thursday and have had refunds from two of them so far. I guess with the strikes and Christmas they must be overwhelmed

dudsville · 04/01/2023 14:05

That's appalling @AFingerofFudge , how frustrating.

Snowyowl78 · 04/01/2023 14:10

@AFingerofFudge me too! I emailed toast earlier to ask them what’s happening, I’ll let you know if they reply….

lordloveadog · 04/01/2023 15:54

I ordered various bedding on first day of the sale. They've emailed me today to tell me that they can't send the big duvet cover that was part of the order. They are refunding that part, but the rest is already sent.

There's no point in having the rest without that. Or at least, without the big duvet cover I'd need some single duvet covers instead in order to make it all useful elsewhere in the house. But now they've run out, because it was nearly a fortnight ago I made the order.

This is a very minor household management annoyance. But nevertheless.

Laska2Meryls · 03/01/2023 15:43

@Noodle421 did you dye your jeans? I usually just use the dylon machine dye and as long as they were garment dyed you should be ok .. if its not there is a danger of the thread not dyeing.. I found that with my mid blue Toast cotton drill workwear jacket which I dyed dark navy.
But I can live with the lighter blue stitches ..

@Laska2Meryls Thanks for the advice about dyeing my black Ashley jeans and apologies for my slow reply. I haven’t attempted it yet but it doesn’t sound like I have a lot to lose ( will try older pair first). I was a bit worried about messing up my washing machine drum with black dye but it will hopefully flush out ok . The Ashley’s are all black including the stitching so it should be ok. Hope you are feeling better. Horrible bugs around at mo. Take care.

dudsville · 04/01/2023 16:56

How frustrating@lordloveadog , it would have made more sense to check if you wanted the other bits.

@Noodle421 , I also regularly dye things, it can staining the rubber around the door, not badly, but it doesn't damage the machine. I have a black denim jacket that I freshen up every few years, as well as other things. You use damp clothing, so I usually run them through a 15 min setting, then do the dye wash, after the dye wash you put the item through a second wash with laundry detergent so that's the first run for cleaning the machine too so I wipe the door and the rubber including the weird water trap part of the rubber (just wipe it all with some kitchen roll), then after that I usually do either a dark load of laundry or a further run while it's empty. Machine and future washes have all always been fine.

I finally have a dispatch notice for the 1/3 orders.

Today I'm really enjoying wearing the chocolate easy jumper with a pair of ... I'm going to say "pistachio" coloured cords from COS. This jumper is so comfy and I love the deep colour.

faustina · 04/01/2023 17:02

@lordloveadog - that's such a shame. Are you sure you couldn't use them to mix and match with other bedlinen ? That's what I do

lordloveadog · 04/01/2023 17:04

This is a good idea, thank you! Will see when I get them.

Apparently if you have a washer dryer ( I dont) it may transfer onto something else, but I am not sure how..
Anyway what I do is wipe out around the door seal with kitchen roll after dyeing and then run an empty cycle with detergent .. or use something like HG service wash ( which is a good idea to do a couple of times a year anyway).. washing soda also works as a clean the machine wash and is cheaper..

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 17:45

I have only heard of this potentially happening with washer dryers, but dylon dont seem to highlight it as a problem ..

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 19:07

I have dyed lots of things in my washing machine and have never had any problems with transfer in subsequent washing.. but I do always do the wiping the door seal with kitchen paper then run a ' cleaning cycle' - usually a one hour 30deg normal wash with either a normal persil type bio washing liquid, HG service wash or washing soda afterwards .. you should be ok as long as you do this

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 19:14

What is fun ( but you have to be prepared for unexpected results) is mixing dyes.. for example you can get a really good burgundy using red , orange an (strangely )bright pink . Rit dyes are good also.. but are not sold as machine dye and you have to use salt which you don't with Dylon...
However if you are brave and prepared to sometimes get unexpected results you can get some fab colours.. always follow colour mixing rules.. as you would mixing artists paint.. i.e red and blue - purple .. but too many and its always brown !! Toast like brown, I don't..

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 19:14

I use Rit dye in the machine though, its fine

I've done mine and they came out well, but now need doing again. I'm going to try washing them in soap flakes in future to see if that prevents the fading at all.

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 19:35

More: sorry I am going on here, but just thinking what I may have left out..
So your base fabric is important - not all will take colour.. Cotton , silk ( surprisingly hardy stuff actually and takes more rough treatment than they usually say) , wool, viscose ,rayon are all good, but you do need to beware because garments are often sewn with polyester or similar man made thread which does Not dye .. So if you are dyeing these you need to choose either a toning colour to the stitching thread or go for a contrast.. i.e navy dye on a white garment sewn with polyester thread will mean stitches are still white but itl can look chic on some thomgs like jackets or wide sailor type trousers ....
Polyester does not dye ( some dyes apparently do claim to work but I have never tried them.and tbh I can't see how they would because the colour is created in the manufacturing process of the fabric which is essentially plastic , a rigid non permeable substance.).. I am no scientist but I cannot see who if the colour is part of the molecular structure, as in plastic/ polyester type fabric s.. then how it could be changed .
Ok enough, sorry if you are asleep by now !!!

Just popped on to say Ecover do a laundry detergent for black clothes. I get it on Amazon. I also wash black things like jeans on a cold wash… as in properly cold not the 30 degrees cool that labels often recommend.

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2023 19:49

yes the Ecover is good stuff .. btw if you are dyeing wool.it need to be a cold dye, but you can do that in the machine also....

TerrierOrTerror · 04/01/2023 20:13

Some things appear to have been restocked, I've reordered the Olive Check dress in a larger size.
