Happy Birthday @AFingerofFudge !

Stoic123 · 29/12/2022 10:22

@AFingerofFudge - HappyBirthday!

Did you size down on the Tretorn boots or get your usual size?

AFingerofFudge · 29/12/2022 10:25

Thank you for the birthday wishes
@Stoic123 I'm usually a 5.5 so I ordered the 5 and the 6 and even the 5 were falling off my feet!

Stoic123 · 29/12/2022 10:33

@AFingerofFudge - crumbs.

I've gone down from 39 to 38 - will just have to see how they are with thick socks.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2022 10:39

Finally tried on the Sketched Leaf dress. The brown is growing on me, and, although I prefer the feel of cotton, the crepe type fabric is quite nice.

That dress is a keeper.

JustforToast · 29/12/2022 10:55

That’s a great dress! 😊

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2022 11:01

Thank you, first photo I’ve posted on here, didn’t realise how difficult it is to get a decent photo of a dress.

Really like that!

dudsville · 29/12/2022 11:30

That is a nice dress @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I've also always avoided crepe, but I must admit I've never tried it. It looks very summery, like a wonderful "brunch on the lawns" kind of dress!

Mydress arrives today. Will reality live up the fantasy?

Laska2Meryls · 29/12/2022 11:40

@AFingerofFudge oh dear, I have ordered the 5in the Tretorn boots and I am a 5.. I want them for camping though so getting them on and off quickly in wet conditions is paramount, Hopefully with thick socks they will be ok.. I do have widish feet .. I also ordered the 41s for DH again for camping, so have fingers crossed..

Love the dress on you @Theteapotsbrokenspout , great buy..

My Stack check trousers and the blue Emma tee are due today but we are on rhe end of the posties round so don't get our post early here...

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2022 11:41

@dudsville I did actually try it on with a long sleeve thermal underneath (the dreaded layering 😁) and that worked as well. Although it has got a summery feel I want it to work through the seasons a bit more, although brunch on the lawns would be lovely 😊.

faustina · 29/12/2022 12:24

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - that dress looks really nice on you!

@AFingerofFudge - happy Birthday! I was really intrigued by the green Alixes as I had never seen them before. I think they would be a very useful colour to have

to all of you who find your tretorns too big - have you thought of adding a sheepskin insole to them? Any number of companies do them for a very reasonable price. I buy a pair from Celtic and co for my DIL every year, but I have seen fit flop do some for their wellies

Laska2Meryls · 29/12/2022 12:30

@AFingerofFudge Happy Birthday from me, hope you have a great day

Laska2Meryls · 29/12/2022 12:30

.... Definitely time for treating yourself Wink

Stoic123 · 29/12/2022 12:48

A sale order arrived and not bad.

A few garlands to go with my others- lovely.

I'm going to keep the midnight crinkle dress. I do have a couple of the crinkle dresses already but this is the nicest of them. Might eBay one of the others in the new year.

The Terra Stripe Linen Swing shirt is being returned. Panic bought an L as selling out and way too big. Don't think would have kept the M anyway as not for me - but it is nice.

The collared half sweater in navy - thought was going to be nothing special until I tried it on with the fawn wide legged trousers and suddenly felt like I was holidaying in the Hamptons and about to head off to lunch with the Kennedys (if @dudsville can be fanciful...). I've ordered a different size to compare but think the best sized one will be staying.

Still have the Tretorns, Almond Neck in Beetroot (@Laska2Meryls enabling), Khaki Alix and Dark Moss Collar Tee to arrive. A bit trigger happy.

Ah so excited about that half collared sweater! I had pictured myself in similar surroundings. 😊

Mine probably won’t arrive for some time. I got a size S, I am normally 10-12 (not toast size) on top, so interested to see about sizing

dudsville · 29/12/2022 13:18

My dress arrived... as it turns out it's not the one that got away! When it came out is was only available as made to order so I popped in to a shop to see if they had a sample I could look at. They didn't of course, and if they had I would have realised that this dress wasn't for me.

For the price, it is actually better quality than other toast things; it's lined, it has two buttons on the inside of the wrap to get a more accurate fit on the waist, and of course the fabric is stunning. It's also not too loud (although I gather I might have a higher threshold for this). After Kondoing my wardrobe a few years back and learning to only keep things I love, I really pay attention when I have that moment's hesitation, and it comes down to two things for this dress. The sleeves are short and very kimono-like, meaning you can see right in, and the bodice of the wrap felt not as generous or as secure as my other similar style toast dresses. I would be contactatly checking the tie to make sure I'm covered. I've got a small bust so I don't usually have this problem with toast clothes. I do wonder if this means it was made to fit someone in particular but no matter, it's very expensive and that itch has now been scratched.

I'm intrigued by your descriptions of the half sleeve collared sweater! I shall have a look at it.

Stoic123 · 29/12/2022 13:33

@JustforToast - the S will probably be good for you.

I am a 14 and got the L as wanted to wear something underneath and it was just a bit too loose so I think the M will work better.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2022 13:35

@Stoic123 how do you use your garlands? It seems a shame to keep them just for Christmas.
I bought the pleated paper palm one earlier on in the year and I thought it looked sufficiently non-Christmassy to keep out all year.

Stoic123 · 29/12/2022 13:47

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I have a 2 strung up at the moment in my bay window- just dangling down (Victorian terrace front room). I have bought a couple more (and the pleated star set) which I'll hang from the mantlepiece next Christmas.

I think all of the garlands are good to keep up all year but I'll probably put mine away so can ring the changes in December.

Laska2Meryls · 29/12/2022 13:58

We have our Toast garlands ( this tears Kindle gift) and the paper stars from last year up atm , both lovely .. but they will be going down after new year. I also have the table gifts from last year which do have baubles in , I think but have never been opened ! They are do pretty as decorations that I am worried that I may not get them wrapped back up !!🤣

My Stack trousers arrived and I really like them @dudsville .. Glad that I sized down though! The stonewash Emma tee is a bit ordinary tbh but will be useful so am keeping both...

Laska2Meryls · 29/12/2022 14:00

I think that the Stack check trousers are definitely more of a summer weight, I like them rolled up a bit...

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2022 14:08

Thanks @Stoic123 and @Laska2Meryls , I have to keep mine out of cat reach🙄. I’m having some new shelving in the spring for my studio pottery collection, I might try the palm ones in amongst the pottery. Probably the more obvious Christmas ones can go away.

Stoic123 · 29/12/2022 14:42

@dudsville - shame about the dress but agree it must be loved to keep.
