Same here! @Theteapotsbrokenspout

I have a couple of dresses which feel 'too much' on their own but I just can't make layering work. I'm short too - probably a good few inches under the ideal Toast height.

No help, sorry, just sympathy!

HeyHeyer · 24/12/2022 10:48

Saurus72 · 23/12/2022 23:11

@HeyHeyer I tried the plum check dress a few months ago and it was my usual Toast dress size (12) when IRL I’m a curvy size 14. It’s lovely quality, I hope you like it once you can order it at the sale price!

@Saurus72 Thank you! I'm the same size as you so I'll look out for a 12 when the sale starts for the rest of us. I find the shirt dresses tricky to fit across the chest.

A few more have fallen into my basket now...

How does everyone achieve effortless layering? I just tried on a selection of my toast clothes and concluded that I just look like a bag lady when I try to layer Confused, perhaps you have to be tall and graceful, not short like me.

I thought I looked quite smart the other day when I was wearing one of my bandanas and my daughter asked me why I was wearing a scarf indoors Blush.

My children were very small in 80/90 and I wore scarves indoors endlessly. They know no different. You need to start them young.

more seriously what are you wanting to layer? The most I can layer is a jumper over a dress.

I think in previous years they might have done more money off later in the sale, which is pretty annoying when you’ve bought it.

whoever mentioned about the craft linen check dress garotting them, I had the same problem! It’s massive aswell, an all round failure.

Snowyowl78 · 24/12/2022 11:27

Actually I have just looked back and they did ‘new styles added’ on 31/12/21 and then ‘further markdowns’ on 06/01/22

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/12/2022 11:50

@HeyHeyer at least it’s not just me .

My daughter’s in her 30's @Countmeout so I guess that ship has sailed.

I was trying a shirt under a dress (plus thin thermal under layer) and it just looked all wrong, but I’ve seen the same on Toast website.
I’ve settled on the Francis tee, denim wrap skirt and the little denim jerkin from last year, I’m wearing my footless tights with thick socks and now DH has asked me if I’m wearing bed socks 🤦‍♀️.
I'm torn between ignoring everyone or just putting my dog walking clothes on and going out Xmas Grin .

Has anyone who is a Kindred customer placed a sale order (not from the secret sale) and only had a "confirmation we've received your order" email and not the follow up "we've despatched your order email" ? I've ordered a jacket for my dd but have not had the follow up email. It is a Christmas present, and I don't know whether she will receive it in due course. I'm hoping that my order will be processed after Christmas but don't want to raise her hopes if it will remain "unfulfilled" ! Hope this makes sense...

faustina · 24/12/2022 12:23

@Gonegrey31 - yes - me! I placed three orders (I didn't want anything to disappear while I was browsing). I have tracking emails for two of them and just the order confirmation for the third. Just checked the website and the third order (the slate alixes) are showing as sold out, so who knows if I'll get them? I hope you manage to get your daughter's jacket!

I can't do layering either - just makes me look like an overweight person who's sleeping rough and has to wear all of their clothes at once. I'm obviously doing it wrong!

@faustina that is the best description of exactly how I look.

faustina · 24/12/2022 12:33

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - ha!

dudsville · 24/12/2022 12:38

Catching up on this thread starting from the bottom and this made me laugh @faustina !!!! "I can't do layering either - just makes me look like an overweight person who's sleeping rough and has to wear all of their clothes at once. I'm obviously doing it wrong!" I've spent a lot of time this year trying to master layering. Why is it so hard?

Gonegrey31 · 24/12/2022 12:42

Thank you Faustina let's live in hope! The item I ordered (the neat denim jacket) is also sold out and no longer available. No doubt my DD will now try to go off with mine...

😂

I always think of that scene from Friends where Joey decides to wear ALL Chandle's clothes.

dudsville · 24/12/2022 12:44

😂@Theteapotsbrokenspout "How does everyone achieve effortless layering? I just tried on a selection of my toast clothes and concluded that I just look like a bag lady when I try to layer".

I'm not busty but the added layers make me look busty, and the extra fabric bunches up areound me. I've even googled how to do it and am none the wiser.

Countmeout · 24/12/2022 13:25

I have only one order and have the tracking. Not expecting it up for at least a week.

Never mind @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I used to have a coat that my children called my Myra Hindley coat.

OP posts:
mizu · 24/12/2022 16:33

Myra Hindley coat - I just laughed out loud at that Grin

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/12/2022 17:05

🤣 Myra Hindley coat

This thread has really cheered me up, I have decided fashionably layering clothes is an urban myth.

AFingerofFudge · 24/12/2022 17:21

I also love the Myra Hindley coat comment, and the fact that on Mumsnet we can say things on this thread that no one will get professionally offended at Xmas Grin

Stoic123 · 24/12/2022 17:29

Looks like sale has opened up to everyone now.

I may have just bought a coat that possibly qualifies for this description. It’s the Alexachung Barbour Eugenie coat. Totally unlike anything I’ve ever worn but I’ve been stalking it all season and found one massively reduced. I do like an Alexa Chung Barbour coat.

mizu · 24/12/2022 17:45

I bought this one from COS brand new but at an inflated price on Depop and am now trying to sell Sad as it's too big. XS and too oversized on me - a 10-12 who likes things oversized Hmm

Stoic123 · 24/12/2022 17:46

The cobweb brush now appears to be on sale too. A few other items added (not much).

mizu · 24/12/2022 17:55

Can't seem to attach but it's the tailored grey herringbone wool blend coat.

mizu · 24/12/2022 19:04

Looking at sale now. Has anyone got the Tretorn boots? Says they are very oversized in reviews.

Countmeout · 24/12/2022 19:16

I fear the Miller coat I’ve bought may stray into the same territory. I haven’t produced it yet.

I thought those Tretorn boots looked worth a try @mizu . But I AM BUYING NOTHING ELSE ( for at least 24hours) 😳🤣 I wonder do they feel like wellingtons.
