Anyone want to comment on Leti's outfit and the boots? (qv)
I think Kate would look good in those.

I do have a Clinique CC cream or tinted moisturiser, can’t remember which; might cut it with something to be on the safe side with shade and have a go for a week or so to see if I could make it work.

Ideally I’d love to do my make up the typical French way - have as good skin as possible, use as little product as possible and certainly not full coverage, mostly letting my natural skin shine. But I can’t get my head around how to do that without it being blotchy and obvious. I guess I just need to practice blending! Sorry for the derail btw but thought it’d be okay to ask since we are on the beauty topic after all. 😊

Has Letizia had one of those thread lifts ? , I remember seeing a photo of similar 'ridges' on Madonna and comments were that it was from a thread lift.

Sorry which outfit @Maireas? Also just checking if Camilla’s pansy brooches could please be mine!

crosspusscrossstitcher · 14/01/2023 12:32

That's a terribly unflattering photo of her.
Shock

It looks like me at 4am after no sleep in my dreams

Maireas · 14/01/2023 12:39

@TangledWebOfDeception - upthread I posted a link to Leti's latest outfit.

@TangledWebOfDeception link to a pansy brooch (under a tenner). Just incase you want to channel your "inner" tiara when you're in Waitrose Wink

Chewbecca · 14/01/2023 12:52

Very cute triple hoop earring Leti is wearing though, I am guessing it is one earring, not 3.

Maireas · 14/01/2023 13:03

One earring, triple hoops, Gold and Roses.

For work and day to day I use No7 tinted moisturiser in fair (I'm Irish and ginger so v pale). It's currently called shield and defend. I think it is pretty good for light cover and it has SPF15 and 5*UVA

paradyning · 14/01/2023 13:19

I love that look on Leti. The boots, the coat, the hoops, the bun. Don't like the dress much though.

paradyning · 14/01/2023 13:20

Just spotted this video on Twitter. Showing how they transform a tiara to a necklace.

Maireas · 14/01/2023 13:29

I agree with you, @paradyning - Leti does love sky high stilletos, so it makes a nice change and the look more up to date.

I've seen Sophie wear her aquamarine tiara as a necklace, as has Anne, and the late Queen. See? They're useful items 😊

TangledWebOfDeception · 14/01/2023 12:24

Thank you @KillingMeDeftly and @MotherofPearl.

I’ve tried BB/CC/tinted moisturiser in the past but I still get paranoid that the shade is wrong or I somehow haven’t blended well enough or there’s a distinct difference between face and neck, etc etc. Of course I can bring it down to the neck to avoid that but then I worry about transfer onto my clothing. I obviously have issues! 😄

I like the sound of a tinted serum. Is it different to moisturiser? I sometimes find moisturisers too heavy and greasy.

I liked it when I didn’t have to worry about all this!

It's basically a tinted moisturiser or very sheer foundation but I think they call it a serum to make it sound different from the rest! There's a decent range of shades. I'm a 2-3 which is Light and I'm of a similar colouring to Meghan.

2 pieces of jewellery for the price of one, can't argue that that's a bargain!

LadyEloise1 · 14/01/2023 15:34

@crosspusscrossstitcher
That pansy brooch is pretty.

SenecaFallsRedux · 14/01/2023 15:54

On the foundation front, I have finally found the one that is the holy grail for me. I have good skin for my age, but need a bit of help, here and there. My biggest issue is that I am very fair and my undertone is truly neutral, not warm or cool, and make-up consultants want to warm me up, which always seems to tilt orange for some reason. Also my skin tends toward dryness, especially in the winter. Anyway, I finally found Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue in a shade that is a perfect match. It says it's buildable medium to full coverage, but I find that one pump applied with a brush gives light coverage that just looks like my skin but better. It's a bit pricey but because I use so little, it has a low cost per wear.

The Town & Country link also has a pic of the Duchess of Windsor in this immense amethyst and turquoise necklace. It was sold in an auction 10 years ago for $45k. What happened to the rest of Wallis's jewellery? Was it all auctioned off?

I normally just lurk on here but recently my 87 year old neighbour, who used to work in the high end jewellery trade, showed me a photo of her in the 1980s looking very glamorous wearing some yellow diamond earrings that belonged to the Duchess of Windsor. Her job involved couriering such items to extremely wealthy clients all over the world and sometimes modelling them for them. She also told me that she had made the very stylish dress she was wearing in the photo herself from a Vogue pattern. She had a less skilled and somewhat impecunious friend, a minor aristocrat of some sort, who when invited for tea at Buckingham Palace, bought two dresses from a charity shop, somewhat inexpertly grafted the bodice of one onto the skirt of the other, and went off looking fairly dishevelled to have tea with the Queen.

Wow! That's a great story, @borntobequiet !
Also, those earrings are just fabulous. What a stunning colour.

How about we divvy up the Duchess of Windsor's fabulous collection? I'm off to Google......

Glad you enjoyed it! My neighbour still looks terrific and has some lovely jewellery, albeit not quite up to the standard of those diamonds. She met lots of rich and famous people and an afternoon spent chatting to her is well worthwhile.

KillingMeDeftly · 14/01/2023 16:31

I had a great aunt who was a lady's companion to an elderly scion of the Cartier family and travelled all over the world with her. It's a shame she died before I really knew her as she must've had some stories!
