Flat boots though! Just to properly mix it up.

I love tartan in the winter, always have. My grand daughters had red tartan dresses over Christmas they looked lovely. I bought the green black tartan dress/tunic for Christmas wear. So love to see Kate in the coat. She also had a tartan skirt that I loved

The long tartan skirt and boots combo is in my top ten of Kate’s best looks, stylish and modern, love it.

Love the POW's dress. Boots may have suited the coat, but not the dress.

I would definitely wear it with boots. Suede (risky in the winter but a good spray and you’re good to go). Well over the knee, so no gap between boot and hem.

Kate looks great, although flat over knee boots would have looked amazing. But I like it overall. I’ve always liked Black Watch tartan.

William looks like that jumper has been washed 60 bazillion times and has faded 🤨

Unlike @TangledWebOfDeception I often really like Leti's style, which seems sharper and snappier than some of the other royals' looks. I think she's very elegant.

Here are some Leti photos from today's NMR round-up. Looks like she's borrowed William's green jumper in the first outfit! I love the second outfit, or at least what we can see of it - gorgeous coat, boots, and bun!

@MotherofPearl I was being slightly harsh. Love that outfit, and when she gets it right she does get it very right. But I can't stand her tendency toward corporate looks and I think she veers into that too often (or at least she used to, as i said I've not paid much attention for a while). There are plenty of outfits I do like, tbf.

I like this a lot. Yes she's wearing stiletto boots but she gets a pass from me.

Also love the other photos. I thought the other two were of CPV, which is why I only commented on one outfit; don't know what the hell my eyes/brain were up to...

Both examples are brilliant. And she definitely gets extra points for the low heels. It's actually very easy to be interesting with shoes.

Kate should have borrowed her sister's boots with that dress. Might have needed a different coat though.

Something about the top half of Mary's dress makes me think she's about to set off from the abbey, guitar in hand, to work as governess to a captain and his seven children.

I didn’t my mind Kate’s outfit today - nice dress, nice host, they didn’t wow me together but her hair was amazing in the blustery conditions. It made laugh how co- ordinated she and William were.

I love love love Mary’s outfit though, from head to toe. It’s got a bit of a dark academia vibe going on and I am here for that!

I love Mary's outfit. I like Leti's clothes but the work on her face makes her look quite hard.

Kate looked lovely and they both seemed relaxed after what just have been a difficult week.

Sad news this morning about the death of Lisa Marie Presley. Fergie has shared a photo of them calling her her sister and devoted friend of many years. I had no idea they were so close.

Of the coat/boot combos I'd rank them Pippa/Leti/Mary. If anyone can link me a dupe of Pippa's super shiny chestnut boots in time for my birthday at end of month DH would be eternally grateful (taking it as read that the actual ones will be well out of his budget)

Me neither, Maireas. The internet tells me she might only have worn it for this portrait. (Not a great likeness - although it does look quite a bit like Emma Corrin portraying Diana in the Crown!).

My eye was caught by the gorgeous amethyst Crocker and earrings she’s wearing - I wonder if they were a bit of painter’s licence…
