What trainers are 'in' at the moment? Need nice but comfortable trainers for city break

I've been living in my Vejas for most of the year, but unfotunately they have been really hurting my feet so I need to find a replacement for them. I want something simple, comfortable and 'smart' enough for a city break/wearing to the office (we're a casual office).

Does anyone have any recommendations? My style is quite classic (read: boring lol), and I'm in my 20s.

Golden goose are my favourite but so expensive

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 04/12/2022 13:05

Nike Air Force 1's are always a trusty option, I got my first pair earlier this year for a trip to New York and couldn't believe how comfy they were even after 5 days of 30k steps.

StickyCricket · 04/12/2022 13:07

I’m seeing New Balance 327’s everywhere at the moment in my area.

bellamountain · 04/12/2022 13:29

I'd recommend New Balance, although not the 327 because they are pretty much everywhere now and are looking very common. An old school pair of Nike (internationalist or waffle) will always look good to be honest.

Mercurial123 · 04/12/2022 13:54

I've been wearing Nike Jumbo blazers.

Blendandmix · 04/12/2022 13:58

I love my Nike Air Forces

Chattyamy18 · 04/12/2022 14:02

Sketchers and New Balance are pretty good

Skechers have never been "in"!

Cocolapew · 04/12/2022 14:25

I'm wearing Adidas retrophy E5's atm, they are incredibly comfy.

parisindecember · 04/12/2022 14:26

I quite like the New Balance 327s. They are more chunky than what I usually go for (I pretty much live in my Vejas, and before that Converse!), but I think they are still quite simple/classic.

A lot of my colleagues wear Air Force 1s, and they look nice on them but I feel like they'd look too sporty on me.

Sorry just trying to help.

If you have no need for support etc common projects are comfy and smart

yoyy · 04/12/2022 14:44

New Balance, any of the chunky ones

Me too! I almost got some but couldn’t decide on colour. Very comfy though.

Try on the AF1s in store.

i always thought I was the least sports wear type person (until lockdown) but I bloody love my AF1s. You do have to have a swagger or don’t give a F vibe though! My 23 year old nail tech complimented me on them recently so I must look ok in them!

Ditto. I’ve got plantar fasciitis and these are one of the few trendier trainers I can wear with or without my PF insoles for a good few hours.

LubaLuca · 04/12/2022 14:55

I have a pair of black and bronze NB 574s which I can wear for work too - very lightweight, supportive and easy to walk in all day. I realise they're not cutting edge fashion, but they're not Skechers (they're better, they hold your foot in a good position but are just as light).

Tigofigo · 04/12/2022 14:56

AF1s hurt the top of my feet for some reason

327s are thick so good for lots of walking if you have plantar etc

Stan Smith's are still my favourite comfy trainers though.

yoyy · 04/12/2022 14:59

the 327s are very comfy & there are lots of colour ways. Another pro is strong grips so no slipping in the rain/wet leaves.

AF1s are nice but they are very safe. My mother in her 70s wears them 😆

kegofcoffee · 04/12/2022 15:00

I got a pair of On Running The Roger trainers. They are by far the most comfortable pair of trainers I've ever owned.

Crikeyalmighty · 04/12/2022 15:00

I personally don't give a monkeys whether Skechers are in or out- I have multiple attractive pairs- all supremely comfortable

90yomakeuproom · 04/12/2022 15:10

Sketchers not in but God they saved my pregnant feet from blisters in converse when I went to Rome. I went in the first shoe shop I saw and the converse got slung in the bin and the memory foam pieces of heaven were like walking on clouds.

jeremysjumper · 04/12/2022 15:11

@Crikeyalmighty the OP has specifically asked which trainers are "in", so no matter how comfy they are, Skechers do not fulfil the brief!
