What trainers are 'in' at the moment? Need nice but comfortable trainers for city break

I've been living in my Vejas for most of the year, but unfotunately they have been really hurting my feet so I need to find a replacement for them. I want something simple, comfortable and 'smart' enough for a city break/wearing to the office (we're a casual office).

Does anyone have any recommendations? My style is quite classic (read: boring lol), and I'm in my 20s.

Converse are a classic IMO and I love the fact you see them on all age groups.

Whereas Vejas I have never seen on anyone under 35 personally, yet about 70- 80% of 35-50 year old women around here wear them.

The leather airforce 1's. I have a tan leather pair and a black leather pair. They don't look sporty, go with everything and are just so comfy.

You’ve now sold me on getting black and tan AF1s. I swear when I asked ages ago here whether to get black AF1s I was told it was a big fat no!

I’ve ordered the green LE AF1s though so let’s see if I like them in real life.

I hate black leather trainers. Look cheap

oceanbleu · 05/12/2022 17:46

Love my white converse and adidas ozweegos in beige. I also have khaki adidas swift runs which are suuuuper comfy.

I agree.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/12/2022 18:05

I think black leather trainers can look a bit 'school boy' rather than 'cheap' - it also depends on the trainers. My Paul Smith ones look neither school boy nor cheap, I can assure you. :)

Converse, as a PP said, are just not supportive enough for days of pavement pounding. You need a bit of bounce.

megletthesecond · 05/12/2022 18:09

Always Nike Internationalists. Casual but you can pick up speed in them if you have to. I like a round sole.
Flat soles like AF1 or converse are too flat to spend all day in IMO.

Newlychosencatservant · 05/12/2022 19:01

I am wearing these just now

So comfy, I love them

The thing I don’t like about Nike Internationalist is that mine are mostly fabric and also the soles are lethal on wet pavements. Otherwise I like the design.

I can spend all day in my AF1s and I’ve got plantar fasciitis but if I was walking a lot I’d wear my Juva trainers but they’re for back issues/foot issues.

I’m considering the old style NBs like 608 or 840 etc though.

I’m surprised at thx price of the Paul Smith trainers which are basically half the price of my KL ones which I rarely wear!

What's KL?

My PS ones were a sale find at about £100. I thought that was ridiculously expensive at the time, but they're lasting well, probably because I tend to just wear them for nights out etc, rather than full days.

People who are into "in" trainers round by me all seem to have ditched Veja and Nike for On now. Baffling, as to me they're a running shoe, but apparently they're on trend now. Pun intended.

I could talk about running shoes forever but, when I'm off duty, I tend to go for Gazelles or Superstars.

Damnit!

I wear Ons. Because they're actually comfortable and good for joints. Once they start being a fashion item, they'll skimp on the manufacture and probably put another thirty quid onto the price.

Arse, arse, arse.

Love my Hoff trainers!

Thoughts on Reebok?

I'm eyeing a pair of Club C 85 Vintage Women's Shoes.

DarlingCoffee · 05/12/2022 21:25

I have Reebok Club C and they are without doubt the comfiest things I've ever owned!

TokyoSushi · 05/12/2022 22:13

New Balance 327, literally the comfiest trainers I've ever owned!

Love them too...and I don't care that so many people wear them.
Literally the comfiest shoes I've ever tied to my feet.

Blankscreen · 05/12/2022 23:03

I've got Nike Air Max Dawn trainers.

I got them for a trip to DLP and they are so comfy. I love them.

ReallyDarling · 05/12/2022 23:07

Love my Fila hightops! So comfy and affordable too. I notice kids wearing Filas again so they can't be completely uncool - though I'm in my 30s now so what would I know.

CrappyUsername · 05/12/2022 23:41

Not sure how on trend they are by Nike Air 270 are so comfortable.

Might have 2 pairs in different colours 🙈

CrappyUsername · 05/12/2022 23:41

What colour do you have and what do you wear them with?

I'm very tempted, especially since the pair I posted are on sale (and family members are asking what I want for Christmas...).
