What trainers are 'in' at the moment? Need nice but comfortable trainers for city break

I've been living in my Vejas for most of the year, but unfotunately they have been really hurting my feet so I need to find a replacement for them. I want something simple, comfortable and 'smart' enough for a city break/wearing to the office (we're a casual office).

Does anyone have any recommendations? My style is quite classic (read: boring lol), and I'm in my 20s.

Stan Smiths every time.

the 327s are very comfy & there are lots of colour ways. Another pro is strong grips so no slipping in the rain/wet leaves.

AF1s are nice but they are very safe. My mother in her 70s wears them 😆

I would get NB 327s but my preferred colour way (black with leopard) is out of stock but a jade green pair of LE AF1s I’ve just ordered.

Might try to find the NBs I want elsewhere.

Golden goose were reduced to $350 a pair for Black Friday here in the US. Keep an eye out in Jan for similar pricing in Europe.

Now I have a pair they will be no longer in.

Ifailed · 04/12/2022 16:01

Presumably it all depends on which sport you are training for?

FelixDoublyDelicious · 04/12/2022 16:02

Stan Smith or Gazelle for me

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/12/2022 16:02

I got some 40th anniversary air force ones with a green tick that I love. Also have some adidas superstars

DashboardConfessional · 04/12/2022 16:07

I wear Air Force Ones, low top Nike Blazers and Puma Cali Star.

TrufflesForBreakfast · 04/12/2022 16:21

I'm on my third pair of AF1s. I've recently ordered a pair of Veja Venturi and I'm hoping they'll be as sturdy and comfy as they look.

Bewitched005 · 04/12/2022 16:26

I don't know whether they are 'in' or not (which wouldn't bother me in the least) but I always like Reiker trainers. They're hardwearing and comfortable.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/12/2022 16:31

New Balance 327s are really comfortable.

OnthePiste · 04/12/2022 16:36

My Vejas are the most uncomfortable of all the trainers I've ever had-too hard. Most comfortable are Superstars. |I could walk for miles in these they are so comfy.

eyeslikeeggs · 04/12/2022 17:52

Whichever ones you fancy the look of darling.

DillDanding · 04/12/2022 17:59

Lol at Skechers.

Am I the only one who finds Veja trainers comfortable? But I agree re Superstars, they are so very comfortable.

It took me months to get my black & leopard ones! They’re constantly out of stock, as are the cream with leopard. I struck gold when I was up in the early hours one night with a poorly child; got them back to sleep, went on my phone as was wide awake and they had my size in stock.
Keep trying!

I don’t have a poorly child to keep me up but I do have covid!

Would you say to go a half size up because I tried black and coloured ones on in store when they first came out but I forget which size I tried, I know NB can come up small.

People who are into "in" trainers round by me all seem to have ditched Veja and Nike for On now. Baffling, as to me they're a running shoe, but apparently they're on trend now. Pun intended.

I could talk about running shoes forever but, when I'm off duty, I tend to go for Gazelles or Superstars.

astarsheis · 04/12/2022 19:35

I know that people are saying that NB 327's are too common now...but they are so comfy. I have them in three different colours. As my 'best' pair and equally comfy I have Alexander McQueen's and can do a whole day in city with them and they feel quite dressy too IYKWIM

1Sky · 04/12/2022 19:40

I would love those NB black and leopard print ones but they are always out of stock!

I have massively problematic feet and have the new balance fresh foam ones and they are super comfy but also not completely unstylish

SorrelForbes · 04/12/2022 19:40

Adidas 80s continental. Retro and so so comfortable.

broomers · 04/12/2022 19:47

I'm currently perving on the Hoff website (trainers not 90s Baywatch star!). If you like suede and colour they could work. I think it's a Spanish brand. I used to like Veja but no everyone wears them. Hoff don't have any obvious branding which I like

goldenshoe · 04/12/2022 20:09

I've just bought a pair of Hoffs, nice colours and I like that they have no obvious branding too. I bought them from Anthropologie, same price as buying direct and no shipping or customs fees.

I went to buy a pair of Veja's. They were so uncomfortable, so the assistant told me to try a pair of On's.

They are the comfiest pair of shoes I've ever owned, and go pretty well with most outfits.

Glad to hear I'm potentially ahead of the trend Grin

Rainbowshit · 04/12/2022 20:14

I have 327s but every second person I saw today had them on which is quite annoying.

Theheartsinvisiblefuries · 04/12/2022 20:15

I wear Gazelles with everything. They're so comfortable and I love all the colours available.

A few online shops I saw had them tonight, Footlocker etc.
