Any interest in a opening/review thread?

I tend to open early.
No photos until after 0700?

I can never get too excited about a mascara as I barely wear them - have about 6 samples size ones from previous years already but have two DDs that will be interested.

Lemonademoney · 21/12/2022 08:52

Hmm an okay day. I do love a mascara but this is very much a trial size and nowhere near a full product

Lookingformymarbles · 21/12/2022 09:02

I'm a bit meh about todays mascara-don't wear it all that often so still using up ones from a previous advent calendar and beauty box. On the plus side, I don't actually have to go and buy any!

Dailymash · 21/12/2022 14:32

I use mascara on a daily basis and have used this one before so can’t get too excited about it! It is a great product however.

I can’t find this size for sale but there’s a slightly bigger travel size for £15.50 so for the sake of the running total we’ll use that.. we’re now on £493.40

There’s must be some high value items up next!

Stoic123 · 21/12/2022 07:50

Agree that, if I was going to get a duplicate, the oil would be top of my list.

Wanted to try this mascara for while so I'm happy despite the small size. I will use as soon my current one is done/gone over 3-4 month mark.

Mine last a lot longer than that!

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 21/12/2022 20:44

Nice mascara but disappointing size. hope there are some nice products left to make up that total!

SpicyToothpaste · 21/12/2022 21:44

My first DOD and I didn’t realise or remember there was a mascara in there.

I never wear it as it smudges horribly and I have lots of them from other boxes. I’d like to try a tubing one but this isn’t I don’t think and it’s a stingy size!

ecology1989 · 21/12/2022 22:08

Disappointing one today for me - and it’s my go to mascara. Felt a stingy size to be honest…

Talisin · 22/12/2022 06:50

Ooh, now this looks good. Just what I want to balance out all those exfoliants.

pattyparsnip · 22/12/2022 07:15

This looks interesting .I use sunscreen year round but I think this might be a nice one to keep till summer .

Stoic123 · 22/12/2022 07:43

Happy with this- will be put to good use.

SheSawSeaShore · 22/12/2022 07:59

I’m away this week so had a sneak peak and am really looking forward to using this. It’s a high RRP so I’m curious to see if I enjoy it more than my usual SPF moisturiser (which is a basic Nivea Sun one). My bank balance is hoping I don’t 🤣

Peridot1 · 22/12/2022 08:22

Very happy with this. I’m on a no buy next year and was thinking SPF would be the only thing I will need to buy so this addition to my stash will help. A friend uses it and likes it much more than other SPFs she’s tried.

Mrcpy · 22/12/2022 08:23

I currently use Nivea Shine Control which I love - but really looking forward to trying something ££££ to see if it’s better! This product was one of the main reasons I picked the JL calendar.

PomRuns · 22/12/2022 08:32

Happy with todays - agree yesterday was a bit stingy - should have popped a lip balm with or something like that.
it’s overall good value but maybe I’ve beauty products fatigue.

Dailymash · 22/12/2022 09:40

My head tells me keep this for the summer but my heart says I should be using SPF all year round. Either way I’ll keep it to use once I’ve used my usual Nuxe. It does look less on the greasy side and given the price I’m expecting good things!

Another £69 (JL website) to add to our total now at £562.40

Lookingformymarbles · 22/12/2022 10:06

I don't think I'll need to purchase any skin care for most of 2023!

Today's moisturiser looks good although I was never keen on f50 as my skin felt clogged but I suspect the formulas have improved in recent years.

@Dailymash yes, sunscreen should be worn all year, I didn't used to and now have signs of sun damage which will have occurred years ago as have been using sunscreen on my face for at least 15 years. I've been using supergoop which is lightweight and sits well under foundation (when I wear it!)

Lookingformymarbles · 22/12/2022 10:10

I should add that I've been using sunscreen all year for 15 years not just started using it!

Also want to add that it was MN that persuaded me re the sunscreen and MN for the Supergoop recommendation Smile

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 22/12/2022 10:20

I use today’s regularly and am almost out. At the discounted advent price this single item made the entire thing worth it for me, so I’m super happy. JL was a great calendar this year.

moimichme · 22/12/2022 10:22

Hmm I'm a bit confused as I seem to have already got this product in day 4. Not complaining though! This was one of the products I was looking forward to in this calendar. Can always use a nice SPF and it's a good size.

moimichme · 22/12/2022 10:35

Oops, my mistake! Ds was moving things around - serves me right for not putting them away immediately out of reach of small children - looks like I don't have 2 of them! Still very pleased.

Giftwithpurchase · 22/12/2022 12:28

Happy with todays - I love dermalogica but never buy it as I'm always distracted by something else! They were the first products I used when I got into skin care and I still think they're great. Yesterdays was a disappointment- I remember there being a mascara but I thought it was another brand ..

achillesshield · 22/12/2022 12:34

Is this an actual sunscreen rather than moisturiser with added spf? I always think these don’t contain enough spf so put sunscreen on top. is this enough on its own, do you think?
really loving the calendar by the way.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 22/12/2022 20:30

Today's box was exciting. I thought it was an SPF when I ordered the box, but on opening it I think it's a moisturiser with added SPF. I'll get a lot more use out of this.

Peridot1 · 22/12/2022 21:52

Dermalogica sell it as an SPF. I’d say it’s an SPF with moisturiser rather than the other way around. I usually advocate a separate SPF to your moisturiser but I think this is ok. Some Australian friends use it as their facial SPF.
