Any interest in a opening/review thread?

I tend to open early.
No photos until after 0700?

I think I’m going to put todays offering away until the summer (along with yesterday's perfume).

Roundaboot · 20/12/2022 07:24

More AHAs? Does John Lewis want us to have any skin left at all?!

There was an Evolve mask in the H&B calendar last year (the gold one) which was lovely and I'm sure this will be too. I will just stash it until I've used up other AHA products.

Lookingformymarbles · 20/12/2022 07:25

Forgot to comment yesterday, very happy as I've wanted to try Floral St perfumes for a while, really like the scent so will definitely use in the summer.

Also pleased with todays offering & looking forward to using. We had the gold version a couple of years ago which I loved.

Talisin · 20/12/2022 07:50

This years calendars do seem to be going hard on exfoliating products. I’m fairly ginger with them in the winter as my skin gets weird in the cold.

Peridot1 · 20/12/2022 08:04

I’m the same @Talisin. It does seem to get good reviews on the JL website so I might give it a try. My skin gets really dry in winter. I’ve started lots of layers of light hydration and I bought a little humidifier which I put on my bedside table and it helps a bit. I also use an essence and do a few layers most mornings. I’ve never heard of this brand before so interested to try it.

PomRuns · 20/12/2022 08:04

Just an average drawer for me today - I can’t get too excited about a face mask.

pattyparsnip · 20/12/2022 08:28

I agree just average . I'll probably get round to using it later in the year as I've got to be careful with my skin .

Adventadventures · 20/12/2022 08:45

Agree like a face mask not tried this brand so pleased about that. But not overly exciting. Didn’t realise it was more AHA which is disappointing I’m awash with exfoliation I need hydration and Moisturising products really

This made me laugh, so true though!

not overly excited either. I opened this box and used it last night, I didn’t read that it was AHA, so will have to be careful with it. It was a nice mask as only needed 3-5 mins, so easy as part of routine but didn’t notice any immediate difference 🤔

Chickydoo · 20/12/2022 09:00

Just tried this, skin looks great afterwards. Very even tone & texture. A winner for me

Roundaboot · 20/12/2022 09:02

Agreed - moisturising products would be preferable to exfoliators at this time of year.
I really am enjoying the Lumene facial oil, it's lovely stuff!

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 20/12/2022 09:04

I love a face mask but like others, I’m a bit tired of all the AHA. I’m using tret at the moment so I’m like: ehhhhhh.

I will get through it though.

Stoic123 · 20/12/2022 09:56

Mask will be added to stash and used at some point. Loving the facial oil and the Elemis essence.

moimichme · 20/12/2022 10:15

Same here Stoic123. I've been impressed by everything I've tried by Lumene, and I really liked the gold Evolve mask, but I need to get through a few more mask products before opening this one. Really pleased with the calendar overall - nothing so far that I definitely won't use. 😊 Perhaps I'm easily pleased though! 😂

Dailymash · 20/12/2022 11:42

There’s only so many new products I can test on
my skin before it gets confusing as to what works and what doesn’t! I do plan to use this before Christmas- there’s been a lot of late nights or meals out recently so my skin needs some TLC. Not tonight though as I’m out again Blush

This 30ml mask is travel size and worth £14 taking our total to £477.90

Peridot1 · 20/12/2022 11:50

Yes @Dailymash - you are definitely best to not introduce too many new things at once.

Defiantlynot41 · 20/12/2022 12:09

I was a bit meh about this one, I liked the gold one a few years ago but it was a bit messy to use. However, I whacked this on before my shower this morning and left for a few mins whilst I finished coffee and my skin looks lovely and feels very smooth. Haven't used any of the other exfoliants yet and have oily mature skin.

6poundshower · 20/12/2022 17:07

Joining this thread having opened every door. I won't give anything away but have several favourite products out of them..

MathsFiend · 20/12/2022 18:41

Joining the thread having also opened every door. But I didn’t get yesterday’s perfume- I got a doubler of the Lumene oil from a few days ago! Probably slightly better value, but annoying not to smell the perfume.

I wonder if it's going to reach the purported total!

Stokey · 20/12/2022 19:45

Ooh @MathsFiend personally I think you lucked out. I think the oil is my favourite product so far, there's quite a few I haven't tried though!

Talisin · 21/12/2022 06:48

I’ve used this before and it’s good (on me anyway) so I’m happy!

Peridot1 · 21/12/2022 07:20

Happy with today's as I definitely needed a new one. Mascara was on my shopping list for yesterday but I didn’t go out as full of a cold. It’s definitely a small size though.

nice one to double up on @MathsFiend. Definitely better value than the perfume I think.

Roundaboot · 21/12/2022 07:50

I also needed a new mascara! I usually use a tubing one though as I'm prone to smudging. Has anyone used this before? Is it a smudger?
I'm wearing the Bobbi Brown blusher for the first time today - it's really nice, great shade.

Stoic123 · 21/12/2022 07:50

Agree that, if I was going to get a duplicate, the oil would be top of my list.

Wanted to try this mascara for while so I'm happy despite the small size. I will use as soon my current one is done/gone over 3-4 month mark.
