Just seen that & not surprised.

I've been getting many texts/emails from them with big discounts.

I think they are over-priced & stuck in a style rut.

Real shame though for the employees, especially this close to Xmas.

Seainasive · 14/11/2022 10:25

I can’t remember when I last bought something from them!

AriettyHomily · 14/11/2022 10:29

The joules in my twin closed months ago. I used to wear joules as a teen when it was trendy in the horsey world and used to buy it at shows / country fairs. Then they took it to the high street, the quality went to shit and everyone was wearing it. Shame. I've got a filet that must be twenty years old and a couple of their polo shirts is the same era that are still functional for the stables.

StarlightLady · 14/11/2022 10:38

You can usually spot people wearing Joules clothing from a distance. Unlike sone high end designer brands, that is not a good thing. More importantly, my thought go for their staff in these particularly difficult times.

loving your autocorrectts!!

Grin a 20 year old "filet"

UpToonGirl · 14/11/2022 11:01

I was looking on their website just last week, I actually thought they had some nice stuff (Jumper dresses and a few other dresses) if you avoided the obviously 'joules' items. Then they bombarded me every morning with an email....not exaggerating when I say every morning.

I actually just bought the Harper dress from their outlet on ebay which seems to be popular. I'm guessing if they don't get scooped up by Next or another store that's where all their stock will go.

mklanch · 14/11/2022 11:07

even the sale items on joules are over priced. although i like joules its just way to expensive. same with everything really, gains a bit of popularity and then the prices sky rocket. a pair of wellies are about £60! if they just reduced their prices a bit they would be fine.

MrsMoastyToasty · 14/11/2022 11:10

I've never liked anything I've seen in their shops. As I've said before, it looks a bit Sloane Ranger meets Mr Tumble.

Yellowdahlia12 · 14/11/2022 11:12

I hope they will continue online. I like their gilets. Agree that they are overpriced though.

pastypirate · 14/11/2022 11:17

I dressed the dds in loads of joules over the years and sold it on for a good price. My kids are too old for that look now.
It's a shame as some of their stuff is lush but also they do this weird default to navy instead of black with coats so they look really dowdy. A. Brand easily saved

jay55 · 14/11/2022 11:17

I'm sad. It's one place I could reliably get something for my aunt for Christmas, she's thin and long limbed and we'd had great luck there.

CMOTDibbler · 14/11/2022 11:24

I have some lovely dresses and tunics from there, but largely not my style. I understand their big problem was that their deliveries missed the run up to last christmas, then they had huge amounts of stock to shift and just couldn't recover. They were making big redundancies a couple of months ago

Soproudoflionesses · 14/11/2022 11:26

I think Fat Face might be next.

fairisleknit · 14/11/2022 11:28

Fatface prices for women's clothes have certainly skyrocketed recently, I won't even consider buying any of their tops now which I would have done a few years back. The ladies stuff looks no better than TU quality to me.

OP posts:
Bumzoo · 14/11/2022 11:28

I really dislike the navy floral print they shove all over their stuff.

It's a shame for the staff but it's overpriced and underwhelming.

I agree. Tesco or Sainsbury's are similar quality and style to Fat Face and way cheaper

Flowerfairy101 · 14/11/2022 11:31

I wonder this too about Fatface, quality seems to have dipped and prices gone up loads. £56 for a bog standard jumper. I did order some stuff the other day but sent all of it back and probably won't bother for a while. I used to buy loads of winter stuff from there.

fairisleknit · 14/11/2022 11:33

I do still buy Fatface children's stuff as I think like joules it's what they do well. But like you say. £56 for a crap piece of knitwear - no thanks!

I’m sad as I love their fluffy slipper boots. But generally find them over priced.

Agree about Fat Face too. I always think it looks great but then everything just seems expensive or too floaty

TheOGCCL · 14/11/2022 12:54

There's another thread about this not in S&B and it's been kicking off between people who like it and people who don't.

I used to go in and almost like everything as I was into the Sloane Ranger does the country aesthetic, but there would be a twist on every item too far into Mr Tumble.
