just read the word cropped and I thought that’s it.

Maybe second place is high-rise.

But vegan leather doesn’t exist. It’s just plastic. Why not say plastic?

Because not all vegan leather is made of plastic.

Why are people so opposed to finding kinder alternatives to animal skin?

U1sce · 07/11/2022 20:31

Cuffed hem - it is flattering on exactly no one. Fine for gym, hiking, gardening etc but on ordinary trousers, not just tracksuit bottoms

I can explain colourway,

It was initially used to describe an item that came in different colours. But sometimes there was more than one colour on an item, say a grey top with white sleeves. So they became known as colourways.

Then items in solid blocks of colour just became known as colourways. Colour describes the hue, colourway describes the different ways of colour.

Does this make sense?🤯

It still seems superfluous. Could just say in grey and white rather than in a grey and white colour way and now as you say it's used for singer colours - 'in a black colour way' no it's just black 😆

I love midaxi dresses. They're the perfect length on me!

I vote for viscose. Basically means 'Will never look the same again once you wash it' 😠

I don’t think they are. It’s the. trade description thing that irks people. Vegan leather doesn’t exist, it’s made from another material. And that’s how it should be described. As the actual material it is made from.

Does vegan wool exist? Wool comes from sheep, so what would it be made if?

Yeah you could. But now l remember. When you are booking production, you have to book for colourways. If you say colours then production get confused!!

Its a technical term used in the industry that has moved into retail.

On the vegan leather point, I got fooled into buying some recently because it was called "brown leather" on the description. It was only on receiving them that it became clear that the colour was brown leather but the shoes themselves were plastic. I sent them back as missold.

I think you could argue wool is vegan though - no sheep are harmed in the gathering of it, and in fact need annual shearing for their health.

This is the vegan sausage / burger shape argument but in clothing form. It doesn't matter what the fabric is called, just that it isn't made of dead animals.

Pompomsfantastix · 07/11/2022 20:46

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow do you really not get it..?! It’s marketed as an alternative to leather, ie, if you like leather but prefer not to wear cow skin, then you could try ‘vegan leather’. It’s really not that deep mate.
