@KillingEvenings thanks for asking this question about casual creative- I have the same dilemma and am same size as you. @frillseeking great selection of trousers and jumpers for petite creative s- would you mind sharing the links?

frillseeking · 09/01/2023 10:09

@timoteigirl It seems like you have a clear idea of your style and what suits you so I would ask what do you think is making you feel stuck in a rut? Is there anything in particular you'd like to try or anything that's caught your eye? Often there's a specific area where we are feeling dissatisfied with our wardrobe but it can make us feel like we need a complete overhaul when a few pieces can give us an injection of newness. Stick to natural ingenue and predominantly wear the colours you like if that's what you feel good in. I'd suggest starting with an investment piece or something that you've had your eye on for a while to spark the joy back into your wardrobe

@HollyGennero not sure of your style but a blouse like this is an easy piece to pair back with jeans or trousers and wouldn't need any ironing link. The v neck draws the eye downwards and it's not clingy so will flatter. Also the fabric is lightweight so you shouldn't get too hot

Thanks v much for the links, @frillseeking !

MrsGannicus · 10/01/2023 08:57

Love this this thread! Thanks @frillseeking.
Could you help me find a decent black sleeveless knit to wear over shirt dresses?

timoteigirl · 10/01/2023 22:13

Thanks @frillseeking I think was concerned that I am too old to do ingenue...

frillseeking · 10/01/2023 22:13

@dinmin did you mean more or less smart? Wasn't sure what you meant!

I've linked some knitwear ideas here which are quite varied in style. I suffer from v sensitive skin and eczema flare ups so I can't bear itchy fabrics. A few ideas:

hushh* - this one is a simple every day style with a high cotton content.

Bodenn* square neck merino cardigan - Quite a pretty style but a nice, dressier option. Soft merino wool is very soft against the skin

m&ss* - love the collar detail on this one. In the reviews someone has even commented the neck is too exposed so this sounds like it would work for you 😀

@dinmin Also this gorgeous style from Reiss link which is in a cotton fabric. Some people can get on well with cashmere and other natural fibres such as wool but merino or cotton based fabrics are your best bet if you find them too itchy as these are lighter weight

I've just found this thread and I've really enjoyed it. You're amazing at finding things @frillseeking which encourages me to ask for help with my perennial footwear problem. I have a set of rules from podiatrist/ muscular skeletal people and am constantly looking for anything that can fit them. I'd be really grateful for anything you can find. Don't worry if you can't find anything good: neither can I! The rules are:flat, wide fit, lace up, wedge sole with the heel slightly higher than the toe. Running shoes are perfect but not allowed at work. Thank you

Sorry I meant both, ha - need some smarter and some less smart!

thanks a lot - will check those out!

Sooverthemill · 11/01/2023 08:39

@frillseeking 2 real quick questions:1) wool coat longer length pref black navy or dark green and 2) trainers which will go with knitted dress, jeans and leather skirt. Both for a Short break in Paris ( I have heels boots for evenings) so that I can walk everywhere but still look pulled together. This will be my first break in 10 years and it’s our wedding anniversary. Sale bargains even better. I’m size 10 and 37

Usernameismyname01 · 11/01/2023 13:19

lost some weight (now size 16 apple 50+ year old) and want to start enjoying what i wear rather than covering up and vanishing. i love the casual rock look kind of vibe - is that a look even :) - you know, wide leg trousers, band t-shirt, blazer - something that looks like you have just thrown it on but it still looks stylish. My wardrobe doesn't resemble this and need to know where to start and what brands are best to look at. Thanks

monsteramunch · 11/01/2023 23:22

@frillseeking

Do you offer your paid for services to people who don't have a huge budget? If the budget is say £300 for a capsule wardrobe, would that be an impossible task within your experience (on top of your fee obviously)? Would be great to know as I've been so impressed with your ideas! Best style thread in ages!

frillseeking · 12/01/2023 12:49

@monsteramunch yes absolutely! I love finding 'dupes' or cheaper alternatives and can happily work to a budget. Please send me a DM with your email address and I'll send you over some more detailed information.

Work has got busy again this week so will come back to the other requests asap!

@MrsGannicus I've linked a few options for you. I really like this cotton knitted style at
Jigsaww* which would be great if you're looking for something lighter weight.

Kin at JLL*- this style has a lovely textured detail and is great if you want something chunky to layer up

Me &Em - a bit more of an investment piece, love the swing detail of the fit and the clever detachable snood

Also love this staple piece from Arket but stock is v low at the moment

And also this style - https://www.humphriesshoes.co.uk/sharon-noel/p11328?gclid=Cj0KCQiAP6dBhD1ARIsAAGI7HDV7ri1bsyYNQGwlVBceNDprODMV4MrHMd4DAg61xmIHcmOmbjlVeUaAlr2EALww_wcB

Thank you @frillseeking . The next link doesn't seem to work for me but you're right on brief with the Clarks as I actually have those!

coffeetofunction · 13/01/2023 07:13

@frillseeking I feel a little lost with my style and have some many clothes I can't see the woods for the trees. To give you an idea, 18 pairs of jeans in addition to three double wardrobes however I live in stretchy leggings, docs and my teen DD's over sized jumpers. I can get away with what I wear but as a mother with an 18 year old I'm starting to feel like I need to dress a little bit older. I don't want to invest too much in new clothes but I feel out of touch. Any suggestions

frillseeking · 13/01/2023 19:29

@MerylSqueak fab! Here's the pic of the Next shoes. Hope that helps

cathyandclare · 14/01/2023 08:26

Can I ask a non Autumn/Winter question? What should I wear over a dress to a June wedding? Or should I just bare my shoulders?

A wrap/ pashmina seems dated, a jacket seems a bit work-y, I don't even know what to Google for ideas!

The dress is quite bare and strappy so I think I'll need something to cover up a bit in church (and stay warm if it's chilly!) Any ideas greatly appreciated.

frillseeking · 14/01/2023 14:07

@cathyandclare gorgeous dress, it looks great. Hopefully you'll be able to get away without wearing anything but I'd wear a soft tailored blazer draped over the shoulders for a bit of extra coverage. This is a more modern option to a pashmina or boxy jacket
