@juicy0 here's the link. I did like it but it is quite revealing tbh. I'll try again with the right size and report back x

@frillseeking it was the link for whatever you were going to wear it with I couldn't see. It's a great dress, hopefully the next size will work for you :)
On another note entirely, I bought a pair of 90's Levi's 501's which I like, they sit just below my ankle so I thought they'd be better for winter than my slightly cropped whistles barrel jeans. However when I went to put them on today I couldn't get footwear right. What would you wear with them? For smart I planned a pair of sock boots with a slightly narrow toe and small heel but what about casual wear?

Shinyandnew2022 · 07/12/2022 11:27

@frillseeking @Sooverthemill the ME+EM skirt arrived and it's so slinky and luxurious I love it !
The hush trousers are also a winner.

Don't know what to wear to my work event though .

Sooverthemill · 08/12/2022 10:03

@Shinyandnew2022 I wore my skirt out last night. I took a photo but promise I didn’t actually look that crumpled ( how do those instagram people mange it?). I actually tucked in the top but I just record my outfits every day. I’m certain you could wear it to a work do

i wore it with ba&sh knitted top, and black heeled ankle boots from hush ( old) and a faux fur from Sézane. Felt fab, got compliments and was very happy

Apologies for going awol, the lurgy has well and truly kicked my ass this week.

Someone asked about tucking in- Anna Cascarina and another Instagrammer- Missy Elz have both done reels of 'how to' do this so worth a look x

And also thought of you ladies as we've talked about tights on here and the sparkly zara ones... Holly Willoughby has them on this week!

@juicy0 I started looking at this. I'd say go for trainers as an easy option but I also found some other styles I liked, images attached. Love the brogue. Re trainers, Adidas sambas are what they cool girls are wearing

Sending out the bat signal to @frillseeking!

Just found out I have a Christmas party early next week.

Cocktail dress code...

Size 10, love to show off legs and would usually wear a mini length dress or skirt. Alabaster / see through and dark hair if that helps imagine my appearance.

I'll need another layer I think and not sure traditional stilettos or similar will work. Nor will knee high boots or doc martens. Happy to wear heeled boots especially with platformed sole for height.

Completely stuck on what to wear with whatever I get. Blazer of some sort? I love the look of both a mini dress or shorts and blazer but want to look contemporary rather than formal.

I'm conscious it's going to be bloody freezing!

Happy to wear tights if they work with the outfit.

Shops near me are Mango, Zara and H&M. Budget in total perhaps £100 not including footwear which I can pay for separately.

Help (if you have time of course) would be amazing!

monsteramunch · 10/12/2022 01:45

I guess a sleeved mini dress could also work in place of a blazer / jacket.

Not a fan of leather jackets as I get too hot!

Basically I'm a pain in the arse 😂

Shinyandnew2022 · 10/12/2022 10:34

@Sooverthemill you look absolutely great!
I wore mine to the work lunch (with the ME+EM chevron striped top I posted a picture of) I had several compliments and felt great.

My DM popped round for a wardrobe consult as it was an expensive purchase and she is the one person I know will be brutally honest - she loved the skirt and said it will be worn to death so that was that.

The Hush trousers are also great @frillseeking they are honestly like an optical illusion for a pear - my DM couldn't stop saying how slim and tall I looked !

Anyway I must just thank you as your input has steered me to two really pleasing bottom half options which is always my challenge !

Size 20, short apple shape here. I have to find a smart casual outfit for an event mid February in London. I'm not sure how cold or warm it will be (some walking around outside involved). Please can you recommend something. Can't see anything I like on live unlimited, phase eight, roman or yours. I don't want to be black or dark colours, or look like I'm wearing a tent. I want to look slimmer though!

@monsteramunch I may be too late but I've attached some ideas for you. I'd go for something long sleeved and definitely wear tights. Any extra layer helps when it's this cold! Hope you find something

@Shinyandnew2022 so pleased you were happy with the trousers and your outfit for the xmas do 😀 I'm sure you'll get lots of wear out of the skirt for future events too, such a great investment piece.

@MilkToastHoney sorry it's taken me so long to come back to you!

These Hobbs jersey wide legs are a nice casual smart option and look good with trainers. Limited stock available on Hobbs I noticed but they also have them on John Lewis.

Similar kind of vibes from mint velvet here and these are great here but out of stock in most sizes but you might pick up in store or get a re stock.

A more expensive wool version here from Reiss but these are beautiful if you want more of an investment piece

This is a brilliant thread.

I need a dress for NYE after shrinking my planned dress in the wash today for small but relatively dressy dinner. Age 35, size 10, hourglass, prefer knee/midi length and longer sleeves but maybe a bit clingy or with an interesting neckline (quite like my collar bones). Don't like patterns, black would be ok but also bronze, green, possibly blue, dark pink. Up to about £100. Even just suggestions of where to look would be great.

Beenheresomanytimesbefore · 20/12/2022 09:01

@frillseeking Any suggestions for a high waist, wide leg trouser with some stretch that will fit a very short leg? I’m under 5ft and chunky! Thanks

frillseeking · 22/12/2022 14:43

@CeliaCeliaCelia I think there's a lack of occasion dresses at that price point this year. I like this velvet whistless midi dress which has a lovely neckline and silhouette. It's quite simple but very elegant and would look great dressed up with gold platforms or a sparkly shoe. I still love this Reisss velvet dress which I've linked on here before. The gorgeous cut out neckline will show off your collarbones. If you're a fan of embellishment, this coastt* dress is a chic NYE number.
What was the dress like you were going to wear?

frillseeking · 22/12/2022 17:53

@Beenheresomanytimesbefore I've attached two styles from M&S which both fit the criteria. Hope that helps

OP do you have any recommendations for a faux/dupe version of the Me&Em A Line leather skirt? I know it's an investment piece but i'm the process of losing weight so can't spend that much right now until my weight settles. Looking for a faux version now, then will ideally buy leather down the line!

I'm a 16-18, 5'6 and looking for black, just below knee. Any suggestions as to decent faux around £100 mark?
Thanks if you get time to reply!

Tara55 · 22/12/2022 20:53

This is such a fab thread!
Frillseeking, I have an upcoming interview to try and return to work in the city. I'd be so so grateful for a recommendation on a business skirt suit for a petite with a mum tum! (I might be an apple!)

Thank you so much!!!

Weaselstoatferret · 23/12/2022 07:54

Such a fab thread, have loved reading it. I would also be keen for a pm as feel I need a full wardrobe overhaul!

A question though about jeans if you can help. I have short legs but a bit tummy and am looking for slim jeans to wear with chunky boots. I can't seem to find any that hit just the right place on the ankle. Any suggestions? Have tried m and s and mango. Thanks
