Red lipstick

Can anyone recommend a deep red lipstick with staying power? And one that doesn't dry your lips or turn pink after a drink?

I can't seem to find one that works for me. I've tried using MAC lip primer with MAC lipstick and lipcote and setting spray- but none of those things work.

Any ideas? Getting married next year and hope to find a red lipstick that will last.

Colours I like: Ruby woo (but far too drying) and Avon Legendary but not enough pigment so fades to pink.

Ooo! I've always worn chanel reds. Head to a place that does them and try some. Get some advice too on blotting, reapplying and using lip liner.

Lisa Eldridge lipsticks are gorgeous. They last well, don't dry your lips out and fade evenly. They're not cheap, but great quality. Choice of matte or sheer finish. Take a look at her website or if you're in London she has a pop up shop in Covent Garden

I really rate Revlon lipsticks; they do a vintage range. Certainly Red is nice.

I wore the Rimmel 16 hour ones for my wedding. They do a few different red shades and they stay put. You just have to make sure you apply them correctly so they don’t flake. Don’t double coat, get the colour on fast and when it’s completely dry add the balm and keep that topped up.

They're very budget but boots 17 have released a colour called deep red at the moment. It's gorgeous on, stays for ages, doesn't go pink and isn't drying at all. I always get compliments on it when I have it on.

I find Kiko lipsticks excellent. Super budget friendly but they last well, go on nicely, and are creamy and non-drying. I go back to them every time.

@Sandcastlesinthesky That's a lovely colour! Looks slightly orange? I have one like that from MAC (Lady Danger, I think) which I love this time of year. I am hoping to find a deep velvet red so will loiter around some make up counters with this list of brands.

Bobbi Brown Crushed lipstick. Cranberry or Regal.

There's a mac liquid lipstick that is an identical colour to Ruby woo.

I use technik chunky lip pencils..
they are supposed to be used as a lip liner but I use it as a lipstick..
stay on for the full day..
I apply it at 7am and at 7pm it's still there just as fresh...
it's kinda matte so won't slide or transfer to glasses cutlery or husband..!
It was available in wilkinsons but not seen it recently so ordered it online..
Either deep red or bright red.. both are nice..

I really rate the Revlon Colourstay Satin Ink. They are non-drying, there are billions of shades. (I have some stunning reds, a couple of pinks and lots of nudes.) I have found that if you apply a light coat (keeping q-tips and Micellar water handy in case you go outside the lines) and blot, then repeat, then insert your finger and pull it out so you don’t get lipstick on your teeth, this stuff lasts ALL DAY! It’s non-drying and weightless on the lips and you certainly don’t get that ugly butthole look like with liquid lipsticks.

How about lime crime velveteens? It's kiss proof the only way it comes off without makeup remover is if you eat anything oily.

I wore NIX lipstick for my wedding after much research. They have a huge selection of shades and finishes. The one I chose had staying power.

I can't add any additional recommendations, apart from to say that every time I used Lipcote my lips dried out horrendously, even with super moisturising lipsticks that I wouldn't usually have an issue with. So I ditched the lipcote and now blot and layer with my first coat and accept retouching up a few times.

I second Lisa Eldridge. I'm lipstick obsessed and these are the business. Strawberry Shock is a beautiful colour.

Lisa Eldridge does fab reds. She has two or three formulas, the matte ones are lovely and not drying, but the other one is also amazing. Id check them out, as the coverage is fantastic and the colours so nice!

Maybelline matte liquid lipstick has fab staying power. It lasts through a whole day of eating and drinking. I have a great red, I think it’s called Pioneer.

My mate lent me a red Zara lipstain the other night and I was struggling to scrub it off the next morning. I isiall6 wear chanel but I was v impressed

After trying too many budget options I’ve just splurged on a Lisa Eldridge. I haven’t read or heard a bad word about them. I hope it is the holy grail of lipsticks..
