Red lipstick

Can anyone recommend a deep red lipstick with staying power? And one that doesn't dry your lips or turn pink after a drink?

I can't seem to find one that works for me. I've tried using MAC lip primer with MAC lipstick and lipcote and setting spray- but none of those things work.

Any ideas? Getting married next year and hope to find a red lipstick that will last.

Colours I like: Ruby woo (but far too drying) and Avon Legendary but not enough pigment so fades to pink.

The Chanel double ended liquid ones. Amazing. You MUST use the glossy end though.

Have you tried the Stila long lasting liquid lipstick? They really don't budge at all. Personally I prefer a normal lipstick but if it's budge-proof you're after, they might be what you want.

Nars Powermatte liquid lip in Starwoman and their Audacious lipstick in Rita are beautiful reds. I don’t find them drying.

Thanks again to all your helpful suggestions. I do very much like the look of the Lisa Eldridge velvet red - ribbon? So I think I may start there.

Dior 999 is amazing. It's a velvet texture so it's between a matte and a shiny lipstick. Although I added a bit of gloss to it in this pic. It's pricey but so worth it. It doesn't bleed out of your lip edges and does not budge!

I came on for say Lisa Eldridge Velvet Ribbon. Its such a gorgeous colour!

It's not perfect, I still have to reapply, but it fades more evenly that other lipsticks and its not nearly as drying. I really like it.

I like Clinique! But I like a pillar box red!

@shutthefuckingfuckup this is beautiful! I shouldn’t have clicked on this thread as I’m not in the market for a new red lipstick but now trying hard to resist… I usually can’t do anything matt though….

Dimitri by Chanel and Bing by smashbox are my two favourite reds. I also use a Chanel lip liner which really helps. Dimitri is much less drying than Bing. I also have a big crayon type one from Bobbi Brown which is a nice colour but smudges and has terrible staying power so I’d stay away from than one.

I use No.7 lip crayon from Boots. Apply, blot, apply and blot again. I went on holiday last week and a friend asked how the hell my bright red lipstick stayed on all day!

I never need to reapply and eat and drink from 7am until about 9pm and it stays put.

The door 999 is so good. I hate matte too I sit there and pick my lips. This is like butter it's so soft - it wants to be for the price. I swear it every Christmas I love it!

I’m almost sold 🙈. The annoying thing is that I ordered a dior gloss today already and would probably have got a better deal or a freebie if I was ordering more than one thing 😬.

last question- is this one blue toned or orange toned would you say?

It's more blue toned but it's not too blue. It's not cold looking IYSWIM!

I'm still a big fan of the classic Russian Red from MAC. Amazing colour, great matt finish, excellent staying power.

Dd uses a kiko lip stain for dance comps. It’s like feltip pen and absolutely doesn’t budge. They use it because once it’s dry it doesn’t transfer at all. I have to really try and scrub it off. Sometimes you can still the remains of it the day after at school 😬 So if you really want great staying at power maybe look for a lip stain.
