Does it look a bit old now?

Lots of people still have it.

Personally I think it’s had its peak now

PrioritiseCalm · 13/10/2022 21:34

I'm thinking so too.

Do you actually know what it is?

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 16/10/2022 17:11

Didnt think it was a fashion thing?

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 16/10/2022 17:12

I think it's just a commonly used technique.... When I want it updated I sometimes get a different toner and low lights, the colour can be blended different ways. Unless you mean a really dramatic one?

jammydodgersforever · 16/10/2022 17:17

Are you confusing balayage (technique) with ombré (a look/style)?

pocketvenuss · 16/10/2022 17:32

Balayage isn't an 'in' or 'out' thing. It's just a highlighting technique that's more freeform than foils. It's better for creating natural looking sunkissed highlights. Nothing fashion or not about it

limitededitionbarbie · 16/10/2022 17:41

I have a red balayage, I'm brown at my roots so this is a way to just get my roots done for the greys and if needed I can literally do it myself.

I went to a party last night and I got lots of compliments about my hair which I'm really pleased about as I wasn't sure about it.

limitededitionbarbie · 16/10/2022 17:41

Do you want to see a pic of it.

Thrownunderabus · 16/10/2022 17:46

Yes. Otherwise I wouldn't be asking the question 🤷‍♀️

I know what it is. It's been very popular over the last few years...

Anyone thinking my hair is shit please say it kindly Confused

Sisisimone · 16/10/2022 18:19

No I dont think it looks 'old' at all. I think when it's done well it's beautiful, far more subtle than foil highlights and has the added bonus of being unique to each person. I think the current looks are more subtle than the ombre days though if that's what you're getting at

Once upon a time everyone had foil highlights... then balayage... Just wondering what will be next I guess ... ?

People still do have fools though. Balayage is as old as the hills. It became more known in the UK over the past 20 years but it wasn't a fashion thing OP. Just an alternative way of doing highlights. It started in the 1970s. Hardly a trend thing. Just something that wasn't really done here and then it was. You seem to think it was done crazy new fad that has had its day. It's not a fashion thing any more than foils are.

pocketvenuss · 16/10/2022 18:42

Foils not fools!

pocketvenuss · 16/10/2022 18:43

The trend for younger people is more solid block colour. So not highlights of any sort. But there will always be people who want highlights.

paisley256 · 16/10/2022 18:47

@limitededitionbarbie oooh your hair is lush!

limitededitionbarbie · 16/10/2022 18:53

Thank you @paisley256 I've had the shittest day but at least my hair is on point. Thank you. X

MidnightMeltdown · 16/10/2022 18:58

Well I don't think that the retro 90s style stripy foil highlights will be coming back in, but if they do I certainly won't be getting them! 😂

CornishTiger · 16/10/2022 18:59

I had a balayage as a way of ensuring I could do maintenance at home. Do the roots myself or with a friend helping- she is neater and better at lifting it to get all Grey. I then boost the red with a semi.

My hairdresser suggested it so I could do some maintenance. It’s grown out alot now now and the vibrant reds are now more ombré look but I’ll get it bleached up and coloured at some point in the new year.

I am frequently complimented on it and they are amazed it’s been nearly a year since pro coloured. My hair dresser is ace and did it so I could look after it at home. She knows I couldn’t afford to do it every 6-8 wks.
