I am not a fan of Max’s dress. The lace inserts, the high contrast and the textures all make it look a bit too busy, and strangely informal for the state dinner. I wondered if it might be a better success as a day look for the opening of parliament in the Netherlands, but then lace and velvet is definitely for evening wear. (It also looks so much better on the designer’s website where the two fabrics look for more tonal than they did when photographed on Max - maybe we had to be there?)

Mary is looking lovely today in Vietnam in one of my favourite styles, a broderie dress.

I actually like the Dennis the Menace dress, I didn’t know much about Max previous to this thread but I love how adventurous she seems. Was this a dress for Halloween? It’s a little bit “Goth”.

@KillingMeDeftly it’s very sad I think that woman are pressured into Botox etc. Kate is a very beautiful woman and only 40! I think she would age very well naturally.

Just catching up with the rest of the thread, wow the Spanish royal family are so glamorous, I loved that black dress Leti was wearing she looks like she is an ex dancer from her figure. The girls look lovely too.

Greek designer and is in homage to the host country. Nice touch.

Yes, that is a stomacher that Max is wearing! She's been having a ferret through the dusty vaults of the House of Orange, and she's brought out a few stomachers. She wore a huge one pinned at shoulder level to a recent United Nations event. She's obviously very taken with them.
I'm sure Queen Juliana used to wear then at state banquets.

I love Mary's look, the crisp white shirt and the interesting skirt - I wonder where it's from, I love it. The handbag is a bit mad!
Max looks great, and above all, understands that jewellery needs to be worn! That's a gorgeous tiara.

Is Mary carrying the Liz Truss of handbags??

Another outfit from the Greek tour. I don't love the dress (asymmetry always makes me uneasy!) but Max looks amazing, and she's wearing those incredible diamond gobstoppers earrings of hers. Love the diamond bracelet too.

Sash belts are really a thing aren't they. The dress is a beautiful colour

That’s a fabulous dress and jewels. I’ve said I’m not a fan of red, but I do like that shade, it’s more crimson than post box. (Not keen on the hairstyle, but love the eyeshadow)

Maxima is definitely having a big belt moment.
