Mine has been "received by local delivery office and due for delivery today" since Tuesday. No sign, despite RM delivering a different parcel yesterday.

dudsville · 08/12/2022 07:19

The Swansea stuff must be so disappointing, especially after paying for next day, takes the excitement out of a sale. Ditto all the unfulfilled orders.

I've got the opposite experience - my final order, a sickening splurge of all the check dresses, is now on its way to me. i literally wish i hadn't placed the order. I'm content with my two tops and pj set. I had got a credit card (interest free) for the sole purpose of being able to order everything to try, and it's been fine, I haven't kept things that i don't absolutely love and i haven't kept too much or gone for the really expensive stuff, but it still feels like I've been living off of cake for days.

Laska2Meryls · 08/12/2022 07:44

@dudsville , Oh im glad that its not just me who gets that feeling..( but sorry you have) .

I seem to get overexcited in a Toast sale, then inevitably look at the credit card and feel a bit sick.. Its not that I could not ultimately afford it, but I just feel that with everything I already own and the fact that my splurges are rarely for the lifestyle I actually lead but what my fantasy- going out to lunches , theatre and dinners-life.

For example the gorgeous gold seersucker dress -which I still have here but when shall I wear?
All that coupled with the current delivery delays and the short sale period and return period so no second chances ..
TBH at the moment its often 'receive a parcel try it on re pack it and back to the post office' all in one ...Sigh , well it keeps the postal workers in jobs I suppose...

Now I have the Lys still to come, I tried that and sent it back previously ...Gawd.. I am a sad case ..
I am annoyed especially about the very short sale period which doesn't allow for any returns with the Luna dress though and not ordering the 2 sizes .. I can see how that would have worked with my actual life

Does anyone else have the bud check dress? I am wondering how others find the sizing - I have it in my usual Toast size but I can never quite decide if it's acceptably oversized or a bit too big. Not sure why - I have another Toast dress which looks bigger that I wear loads!

I saw it fleetingly in the sale but missed it. (Long shot I know but if anyone is returning it in a 10 I'd be interested!)

AmethystMoonShine · 08/12/2022 08:26

My ‘stranded in Swansea’ parcels finally arrived. I’m keeping the lofty alpaca cable cardigan, it gorgeous. The chalk napkins are also perfect.
The luna dress is also a keeper and I’m planning to wear that for our Christmas work meal on Saturday night (this is literally me and DH as we have our own business and are the only staff members 😂)
The anthracite needlecord yoke dress is going back, even in an 8 the lower half was too voluminous for me. I’m pear shaped and it made me look like a ship in full sail. I didn’t feel nice in it. Shame as at £60 it was a bargain these days for a Toast dress.
Now awaiting the December sale but think I will resist going mad as I don’t really need anything and have a lot of clothes which I’m struggling to store 😳 Must get a few things on Vinted.
Love that shirt @dudsville I wavered on that then missed out. Maybe there’ll be returns for the next sale?

AmethystMoonShine · 08/12/2022 08:30

Photo of lofty alpaca cable cardigan for @happysoju
your comment made me laugh as I’m forever off to google item names, although the longer I’ve been on this thread the better I’m getting 😂

I have that cardie and love it! It's sooo soft and snuggly.

I've held off on the sale but am contemplating the blue check crinkled cotton gingham dress as it looks as though I can chuck it on over thermals, or dress it up to wear out.

Sizing looks big. Does anyone have this? Did you go for you normal 'Toast' size or one down?

Thank you!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/12/2022 09:18

I really like this dress, it’s got some good reviews. But the washing instructions are confusing me, at the top of the page it says 30° machine wash, but at the bottom of the page there are different instructions on how to treat viscose.
Does anyone have this, or another viscose Toast dress? I don’t want to spend £££ on something only to ruin it.

Hearing you both , I need to buy for the real me ( always chilly , usually found in thermals , 2 jumpers and a duvet coat ) buy these beautiful things that I can’t face wearing because I’ll be frozen?
I’m going out to a concert and dinner tonight but I’ll have to wear the usual woolly Brora layers else I’ll be cold . I don’t find Toast knitwear very warm either.

Noeggsontoast · 08/12/2022 09:54

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I have two of the tie neck dresses and wash on delicates at 30degrees and absolutely no issues at all.

Snowyowl78 · 08/12/2022 10:06

I finally got a parcel!

fisherman’s indigo trousers - weirdly I had to size up in these when the reviews said to size down! They are very cool and I like the look BUT they have no normal pockets, only a big pocket half way down the leg- no use! I am not sure if the waist is too structured for my IBS to take. They were heavily reduced so I may keep them as they are really unusual and special looking.

linen trouser in Ochre. Lovely fit and have a pleasing ‘crispness’ to them. BUT, have whiff of grandads weekend slacks about them due to the colour.

orange linen tshirt in spice- lovely! Keeping.

I don’t know how to post pics of stuff that’s no longer on the site?

I still have lots stuck in Swansea and like some others suffering from buyers remorse. I will have to be ruthless when it Al turns up.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout i would stick with the initial 30 degree instructions. Have washed some viscose from toast and it’s fine. I’d wash delicate.

Laska2Meryls · 08/12/2022 10:19

Its my birthday next week and we are going to Bath for a few days ( theres a Toast shop in Bath !🙈) Any have booked a nice restaurant for birthday meal and I Am going to wear that dress! Possibly ( most likely) with Thermals under !!🤣

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/12/2022 10:21

Thanks @Noeggsontoast and @Snowyowl78 I wash lots of my clothes on delicates so that’s no problem. I can order with confidence now Smile .

Snowyowl78 · 08/12/2022 10:23

@Laska2Meryls which is the seersucker dress?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/12/2022 10:25

I watched the live event yesterday (well afterwards as my wifi was playing up) I was disappointed that nothing was modelled, especially as that dress was shown.

DuchessOfSausage · 08/12/2022 10:44

Thanks @neveradullmoment99 . I've seen some ideas on the site of how they look with cropped trousers, but I don't wear cropped anything. They look a bit clumpy with the crepe midi dress and socks but nice with heavier-looking dresses.

Why do they not show the back view of the trousers?
I got in touch with them to ask, but the agent said there were rear view photos.
Must be me.

dudsville · 08/12/2022 10:52

So much to catch up on!

Thanks for the sympathy @Laska2Meryls ! And wear that dress! In summer you can dress it down with arizonas and just be fabulously but simply well turned out.

@HeyHeyer , i have and love the bud check. I went down one size, if it weren't for gaping buttons i could have gone down 2 sizes as I'm not busty. However i think it wouldn't have looked right as the sleeves aren't set at a tight angle. I did wear it last week with a belt and thought it was cute. But i fear i may also look like a shop at sail aka @AmethystMoonShine 's post!

Woohoo @Snowyowl78 dusky getting a parcel! I'm jealous you got the orange tee, im still annoyed mine didn't fit.

Ps, i get pics by googling the name, clicking "images" and then doing a screen shot and crop that.

DuchessOfSausage · 08/12/2022 10:56

They show the rear of the men's trousers.

HeyHeyer · 08/12/2022 11:03

Thank you @dudsville - I have a bit too much chest for a lot of Toast too - always an issue with their shirt style dresses!

Saurus72 · 08/12/2022 11:43

@Laska2Meryls A real shame about the Luna dress, but I bet there’ll be returns in the December sale you can pounce on.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I have 30+ Toast viscose dresses and I wash them all at 30 degrees, all fine. I don’t believe in dry cleaning really.

I’m finding it quite difficult to justify buying many more things tbh. I have so many lovely dresses now that I either need to downgrade some of to work clothes (which I’ve done with a couple of things) or just slow down. Probably a combination of the 2. I’ve only bought 2 Toast dresses this season and that’s enough. I’m keeping a wish list on my phone which is keeping me focused on what to buy (and not buy). We’ve had to cancel quite a few nights out in London over the next few weeks - that, combined with wfh a lot means my needs have reduced and it feels a bit mad to keep buying. As a former shopping addict (@dudsville your comment about living on cake pretty much sums up my shopping life from 30-mid 40s…) I truly never thought this would be me.

OTOH, I need £1k to buy everything on my wish list so clearly keeping my hand in 🙄😬

alliscalm · 08/12/2022 12:37

I watched that event too. I thought it was hilarious when Jenny Garcia suggested wearing the £250 cashmere dress teamed with a dinky leather bag for a spot of gardening.

Snowyowl78 · 08/12/2022 13:12

There’s a toast live now on homeware. I am really liking that chevron jumper she has on but I just checked and it’s £250! One for saving for the sale!

@alliscalm i have also seen in the reviews before people saying they are wearing really expensive dresses for gardening! Must be a super rich thing.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/12/2022 13:52

Thanks @Saurus72 good to hear everyone washes the viscose at 30°

I know @alliscalm I’m obviously living in a very different world to the Toast stylists Grin .

ScottishMouse · 08/12/2022 14:36

Just got a parcel that I thought hadn’t even dispatched. The first one is still hanging about in Swansea though.
Today’s parcel just contains the poplin pj shirt in white. It’s a slightly different style to the slate one I have from a previous season. It fits slightly bigger across the shoulders and the neck is slightly lower. And even in the sale it was still £80. But I think I will keep it as it will be very handy when I need a smart white shirt.

Laska2Meryls · 08/12/2022 14:58

@Snowyowl78 this is it.. it's gorgeous and a little creased . Id model it, but I am currently in my gardening stuff ..Its all wrong though, sorry not a cashmere dress and beautiful hand mae leather shoes but old (cheap ) muddy bashed up jeans and a disreputable frayed hoody ( probably originally from M&S or Tu ! ) and I dont even have a mushroom in my pocket😂.. Ill leave the thread in shame if you all want to vote me off !
