M&S a shop for very tall people now!

Bloody hell- I was in a store today and it felt like an alternative universe where M&S think their customers are all thin and super tall but in reality the majority of customers are average or short and more likely to not be skinny as they are a bit older.

I used to be a regular or long in trousers, but they are cut for giants now. What on earth has happened to the sizing? Who is going to buy all this stock!? How can a shop not design clothes for its actual customers.

I'm 5'9 and the last couple of regular length pairs I've bought have been slightly too long :) not complaining though. Usually have the opposite problem

Yes I was going to say this @NoWordForFluffy . My DP is 6"4. I'm 5"9. We both wear 34" leg jeans. It's partly proportions (I'm long in legs, short in body) and also the way women's jeans are cut and how they sit on the waist/hips.

Amusingly, was in there yesterday and they have a lot of ruched sleeve blazers, which are perfect for anyone with shorter arms :)

Surely with five different lengths available all but the shortest and tallest women will find something to fit?

Very little available in the XS size though. And I don’t want just ‘something’, the whole reason I used to buy jeans at M&S was because I had almost all the range of styles available to me in Short.

I’ve just had a look and out of all the jeans I liked, none of them seem to be available in this “extra short”
I’ve been buying M&S jeans for years as they were the only ones I could get to fit me nicely in the length

They must be redirecting all their sleeve fabric to their trouser legs. The sleeves of every damned long-sleeved shirt I try on in there is 3/4 length on me.

I agree, the trouser lengths have gone bonkers. I get extending the range to cater for taller women but did they have to mess about with the rest of the sizes. I’m 5.5 and the regular length is now far too long, but weirdly the short was a bit too short in some styles. My mum who is 5.2 now can’t really find anything because the short is too long. M&S was always one of her ‘go to’ places but not anymore. The XS is almost never in stock and only in a few styles. My mum likes to shop, not buy online. So they’ve definitely lost some of her custom.

I struggle with shirts too. Really need to find somewhere that sells shirts for women with wider shoulders and longer arms.

Another short arse here who had to send the entirety of her last online order back. Pissed off because I rarely have time to get to the shops to try things on and M&S was my go to. Not any more.

My favourite complaint too. Medium or regular trousers used to fit, now they're flapping in the air if I take a step. Short trousers are a mile too short.

They still have the same trouser lengths as before but they added extra sizes, so now what used to be short is extra short, what used to be regular is now short, what used to be tall is now regular and they have a new tall and extra tall.

No extra short in my local store. And no mention of it either. Not in store, anyway.

If that were true it would be great but in reality “extra short” is not available in many products, I’m yet to find one for jeans.
I haven’t looked for the other sizes so can’t comment on their availability

There were several trouser styles in extra short when I went in with my Mum recently but we weren't looking at jeans.

Frustrating if it is very limited. My Mum will be raging if she has to start turning up M&S trousers. Hopefully things will improve with time 🤞

Oh I’ll need to go in, I’m a 35 inside leg so always on the lookout for long jeans and trousers. Although I’m fat lol, most places think fat people are short and T-shirts end up like a crop top 😂

Blah - went into very large store yesterday and there wasn't a single pair of jeans in my size in long length. So it looks like business as usual - extend the sizing bands then don't have any in the upper and lower band sizes. Grrrrr

I have a 33 inside leg and used to find M&S useless. The sleeves were skimpy on clothes in recent years and the 'Long' trousers were about an inch or two shorter than some other brands. I'm glad if they've belatedly started catering for taller women. I wonder if they'll start doing something about the tights, as I've had to resort to Snag or Bettertights to get a good fit.

Ah. So they haven't adjusted sleeve lengths. How annoying.

I’m wearing their jeggings in navy really comfy and short leg and 5’2 they fit perfectly in length I haven’t tried regular length mind you but annoying if they are too long I can’t stand trousers that are too long.

My inside leg is 34 and I'm 5ft 11 and can confirm their wide leg, yoga type trousers are slightly too long for me. Wtf?! I mean fantastic but ex long has been just about ok on a good day and depending on style and now I'm a regular?

Their wide leg jersey trousers are perfect for me in a 'short', but I got their faux leather trousers and need the regular. They're meant to be ankle grazers but the short was ridiculously short. The sizing must be all over the place.

Just got some jeans in the long length and I can confirm they're properly nice and long. I'm really pleased with them. Definitely longer than M&S long length used to be.

Ohh - I may finally have hopes of getting some black trousers then. Actually any trousers to be honest.
