How can I style these boots?⅕

No mean comments please, I really like them 😁

I've never been much cop at putting outfits together. What would go with these?

Where are the boots from I like them

SimonaRazowska · 29/09/2022 07:35

They are very cool

i’d say bare legs and a shirt dress/mini dress?

would go well with denim shirt dress and bare legs

Yeah I'll be leaving the thread now, I don't like the belittling tone from some posters I feel a bit shit now. Thanks for the serious suggestions. Back to the shop they go.

Ignore the haters OP! If you can't ignore belittling posts you really shouldn't add a thread on MN asking for fashion advice tbh, there's always going to be someone taking the piss over your choice of clothing. If you're happy with the boots then keep them, you've had some really good suggestions for styling an outfit round them.
Honestly, just accept not everyone is going to like your choice of fashion, that's life!

Bollindger · 29/09/2022 07:54

Wooden tights in the same sort of colour, mini skirt in coffee colour, jumper with loose neck , and a loose jacket in a brown colour, the add some chunky gold chains.

Theweeklymoan · 29/09/2022 08:12

I understand that they're not everybody's cup of tea, so you could just say that if you absolutely must. I don't understand the need to take the piss out of somebody for what they wear though. I definitely don't understand the need for outright belittling.

It all seems quite "mean girl" and reminds me of the shtick the alternative kids would get at school.

I really like the suggestions made to style them though so thank you (abattoir and morgue aside) 🙂

OP I think you’re a bit too current and fashion for MN (that’s not an insult, just a demographics thing)

I’ve seen lots of these all over insta. The bare leg / short, loose jumper dress combo looks fabulous

Crabwoman · 29/09/2022 08:49

Tube or knitted dress. Mini or midi if there's a slit.

Or an updated 90's Clueless mini-skirt and cardigan.

Nolosomi · 29/09/2022 08:55

I think they are on trend, I saw someone wearing similar and they looked cool with bare legs & a short dress. I’m not sure they’d look great with tights or jeans however because of the colour.

deedledeedledum · 29/09/2022 08:56

Oh come on OP. This is mumsnet the only place where Boden, White Stuff and Sea Salt are considered stylish and who still idolise Mulberry, a brand whose hey day ended approx 2008. Also the land of the keyboard bully who thinks belittling people 'plastic' makes them feel good. It just makes them look nasty. We can all see it. Even the Boden loving ones can see it

I think this looks quite nice, I do have a shirt + waistcoat combo somewhere in the wardrobe 🤔

That looks great. Ignore the pisstakers. DS works in high end fashion and he would LOVE those boots. His cool friends wear stuff like this all the time and it looks brilliant.

worriedniece · 29/09/2022 10:02

Are these actually fashionable? I am so confused! Added to this, a boy at my DD school has a mullet. Is that a serious fashion choice now or a piss take?

That was the comment that stood out to me too. Fancy belittling somebody for plastic (aka cheap) footwear in the current climate. Not everybody has £300 to spend on boots. PP who made that jibe - what are you wearing on your feet then?

I'm young-ish and most definitely not the target demographic for the likes of boden and seasalt. I actually looked into both brands as I see them raved about so much on here and I couldn't find one thing that wouldn't make me feel dowdy.

Mini boden on the other hand - gorgeous. I buy their stuff for my DC on vinted all of the time.

I will be keeping the boots and love the ideas people have given me so thanks for those 🙂

The mullet is gaining popularity thanks to a founding member of the Bad Boy Chiller Crew (music) having one, I think.

Don't be discouraged, OP. People who think it's clever to be unkind on here should have to post pictures of their most recent purchases so that we can see how stylish and fashionable they are...

I like your boots. They're not my style, but I can see how they'll look good, and the world would be a dull place if we all wore the same mumsnet approved outfits. I think they'd look good with dark leggings and a baggy jumper for a casual look, or with a mini skirt and tights.

Come back and show us some photos once you've got them on - I bet people will change their minds.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 29/09/2022 10:23

Oh, they'd also look great underneath cropped, wide legged jeans and trousers. I've been wondering what to might go with a cropped jumpsuit to make it wearable in winter, your boots might have given me an idea!

boxybox · 29/09/2022 10:25

mullets are back

boxybox · 29/09/2022 10:26

doesn't mean you should get one though 😆

ladygindiva · 29/09/2022 10:26

Ignore the haters op. I've seen a mum at the school gate rock a pair of boots like this with a chunky dark plum coloured oversized jumper and shiny faux leather leggings in the same colour as her jumper. She looks good.

boxybox · 29/09/2022 10:31

I agree MNs isn't really for cutting edge fashion but to be honest lug welly boots aren't particularly cutting edge. Like I said I like them in black, I just think in white they are hard to style in a U.K. winter.

PigsInBlanketyBlankets · 29/09/2022 10:40

Keep them! I did laugh at the crab factory comment but they're very "in" at the moment.

Thick black tights and an oversized jumper dress

Theweeklymoan · 29/09/2022 10:41

I'm not seeing what others are seeing RE welly boots. My boots have thick chunky soles which isn't something you generally see on Wellingtons also the material is completely different.

OP posts:
boxybox · 29/09/2022 10:43

because they are lug soled

So are timberlands, that doesn't mean everybody wearing them look like they're going hiking or working on a building site.

aren't they not of this ilk?
