Are these glasses too 'attention seeking'?

I've worn contacts throughout my late teens and early 20s and after an incident decided to switch to glasses and they have been a part of my style now.

I currently have cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1140/7330/products/oliver-peoples-0OV5389D__1666_030A-eyeglasses_2000x.jpg?v=1610662570 and images.ray-ban.com/is/image/RayBan/8053672430721__002.png?impolicy=RB_Product&width=1024&bgc=%23f2f2f2.

I work in a tech company where there is no dress code and many of us wears birkenstocks so being 'professional' is not really an issue. Saw these the other day cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1140/7330/products/ScreenShot2020-05-27at9.18.51AM_2000x.png?v=1590596646 and I love them! Tried them on and I think I look good in them but am worried if they're a bit too 'look at me' IYSWIM?

I'm not very edgy still wise, mostly look like i.pinimg.com/236x/58/66/3d/58663da8791d0f98622dceb5924d9cfd--denim-jeans-blue-jeans.jpg half the time and i.pinimg.com/564x/e2/9c/ab/e29cab0d46945597bb0380c1fec7132b.jpg the other half the time.

What's the verdict?

Sorry, wasn't clear. First 2 images are of my current glasses, third one is the one I'm thinking of getting!

When shopping for anything ask yourself:

Do I like it/them ?
Can I afford it/them ?

If the answer is yes to both, buy it / them.

I think they're awesome glasses btw.

SpinCityBlue · 24/09/2022 11:55

The round ones? I like them.

Afterfire · 24/09/2022 11:55

I was actually expecting them to be far more “out there” than that! They’re lovely, very smart. It’s fashionable now to make glasses a statement if you wear them. I am -9.50 in both eyes with other visual issues and wear my glasses all the time now and I choose frames that are bright and bold. If I’m going to wear them I might as well flaunt them!

J0y · 24/09/2022 11:55

I don't think any of those frames are in any way attention seeking. I'm 52 and work in a staid kind of environment. I'd say just go for it. I don't think you're going to give Christopher Biggins or Timmy Mallet a run for their money.

Mercurial123 · 24/09/2022 11:55

They make a statement. If you feel confident wearing them go for it. They would look crap on me as I prefer more traditional shapes.

Mercurial123 · 24/09/2022 11:56

And wouldn't have the confidence to wear them

zagaraz · 24/09/2022 11:56

I like my glasses to be a fashion accessory but I also don't want them to be too 'distracting' if that makes sense!

zagaraz · 24/09/2022 11:57

Was also looking at aviators as I love them when I see them on others but I look completely rubbish in them!

I love quirky glasses! Get them!

I bought some transparent pink plastic ones last year after trying a dozen pairs I didn't like (think old-school granny glasses!). I fell in love with them and think they suit me but I haven't worn them yet after I posted a picture on SM and several of my friends made unkind comments.

Zeeza · 24/09/2022 12:05

I agree with others. Have fun. If you like them, go for them. I presume they aren't from the type of place that does a buy one get one half price. I often try to get a striking pair and a more conservative pair, or as I look after glasses and my prescription doesn't change much I can use an old pair.

PragmaticWench · 24/09/2022 12:05

Go for it!

Explaintome · 24/09/2022 12:06

I like all of them and actually don't think the new ones are that much of a leap from your current glasses.

I'm looking for more interesting glasses currently. Everything in local opticians seems to be slight variations on essentially the same thing.

mynameiscalypso · 24/09/2022 12:07

I work in a pretty conventional environment and engage with civil servants a lot - I've definitely seen a few people wearing glasses similar to #3 and they look great!

Precipice · 24/09/2022 12:10

Nothing odd or attention-seeking about about these glasses! They look fine. I was expecting something goofy like bright yellow wide frames with a pattern or something sticking out of them XD

Kite22 · 24/09/2022 12:13

From the title I was expecting something a la Dame Edna Evridge, or 1970s Elton John .....

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 24/09/2022 12:15

These are a bit more attention seeking if you decide you want to be noticed a little more.

Are these glasses too 'attention seeking'?
Marblessolveeverything · 24/09/2022 12:20

I think they are classic lines and elegant. I understand where you are coming from but have to say while they are fashionable I think they are fundamentally are classic lines.

The first two other ones that she actually owns, she's asking about the third one.

Tsort · 24/09/2022 12:24

The concept of ‘attention seeking’ glasses is so very sad. We mustn’t look like we want attention, now! The horror!

So very depressing.

Oh no!! Wear them!! I bought my first pair of more statement glasses a few years ago and a ‘friend’ called them ‘interesting’….

I ignored her, wore them anyway and now I bloody love my more distinctive glasses (and they’re actually pretty tame really!)

RudsyFarmer · 24/09/2022 12:26

Do they suit your face? If they do, and you can afford them, buy them.

WildCherryBlossom · 24/09/2022 12:28

I love those round ones. If they look good on you, get them.

RaininginDarling · 24/09/2022 12:29

Agree with @Tsort. If you like them, get them. Honestly, I don't think they're out there at all, rather classic in fact.

LynseyLeighton · 24/09/2022 12:30

Do you keep thinking of them? If so, isn't it telling you to go for it?
I like your style and i think they will go well and look professional.
