Tights recommend

Please recommend some tights, last year I bought some at M&S and and they were awful, but I they kept falling down on the waist and thighs. I know many people complain if they dig in, but I don't care of they dig, just so long as they don't roll down or sag on the legs and crotch, I basically I want them to be spray on and not move.

And I don't like that snag website.

I really like the tights from Big Bloomers- they don't dig in at all!

I love good old Primark for tights. I have many pairs which have lasted me at least 3 years and I wear them a lot.

HEIST HEIST HEIST! Pricey but feel completely different on than normal tights esp in the crotch area - no chafing, or crotch coming down.

I have only worn Heist for 3 years - total gamechanger!

PS Snag tights do not wear/age well. Yes, they come in large sizes but quality is very poor.

I blocked the Snag ads on SM because they were incessant. But their tights are the only ones I've found genuinely long enough for me

Forget Snag, have tried them. They’re fine but they do bobble eventually and get holes in the toes, within a few months of wear. The BEST BEST tights I have ever bought and now have in many colours are Calzedonia. There are branches in London or you can get them online. I bought a few pairs in 2017 and am only just replacing them. The fit is so snug and you barely have to adjust them all day. I recommend them to everyone.

Humpfff so I basically have to deal with Snag tights, anywhere else? Do TK Maxx still do woolford?

Snag alternative right here!

I really liked the black opaque tights in Primark, but the pairs I bought recently are not the same for same reason. Without derailing the thread, the tights recommended on this thread, would they suit a more bottom-heavy pear-shaped person?

@Meseekslookatme I am a total Snag convert, but have just bought a few pairs of the Better tights to try. I like that they have a range made from recycled fibre - I've bought two pairs of recycled and one of their normal knit to compare.

I'll report back for a Snag/Better review!

I like Heist but fall between sizes. One cuts in at the seam, next size up too big elsewhere. Hedoine are good.
Both expensive but do last.
i have snag tights, they ok, but not amazing. The waistband can dig in a bit . I am a size 12, five eight, chubby thighs.

I used to be snag, but the marketing and attitude put me off.
The quality has diminished too.
I think I found out about better tights on here, waiting for some spiderweb ones to arrive for Halloween!
I'm lying I want them for every day, but it sounds better if I blame it on Halloween 🎃

I have two pairs of school tights that I still wear years later and hope they never go in holes because they fit perfectly!

A friend wears stockings and says they're much better than tights for staying in place, but I can't help thinking they'd be draughty, and the clips uncomfortable.

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams - Am l that friend of your in real life? I regularly wear stockings in autumn and spring (bare legs in summer) and the tights come out when it’s really cold. I’m old school. I’ve not mentioned previously as l did not want to derail the thread.

lt’s a myth that the clasps are uncomfortable but you do need a practical sussy belt designed for day to day wear rather than the bedroom; tgere is a lot of rubbish out there. Then there is the undeserved sleaze factor. Strange really when you consider my grandmother wore them more or less daily.

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

Until I discovered Snag tights (which actually fit without penguin crotch!), as a tall person I always found stockings more comfortable. I wore hold ups for years, but developed a sensitivity to the sticky stuff at the top, so moved to stockings and suspenders.

I found them super comfy - but the key is getting a proper suspender belt, with at least six straps. Anything you buy from Ann Summers is not going to hold your stockings up all day.

I reccommend Kiss Me Deadly suspenders if you want to give them a go. My favourite is the roll on girdle, which is very comfy, makes a nice line under your clothes and stays put all day.

If people are looking for a practical suspender belt for everyday wear l recommend the Fantasie Bronte

Or the Fantasie Leona. The secret is to avoid single hook and eye fastening at the back. It is likely to dig in and won’t stop in place.

I thought I loved snag tights, but after buying the 100 denier (I think, if not 100 the thickest they do) I've changed my mind. The 40-50 denier are amazing but the others have bobbled, are sort of stuck together and the legs are twisted so are really uncomfortable at the top. The merino ones are OK but again they fall down and have twisted legs. I think I'll go back to Wolford - they've never let me down!

Used to buy the M&S body sensor tights. Shame they changed them, wonder if they read Mumsnet and listen to feedback?

Wilford are beautiful tights which look great and last much, much longer than supermarket tights. Just in a different league.

Snag tights have been a game changer for me. I got fed up with other tights constantly falling down/sagging. These are great, and loads of my colleagues wear them too!

I just received my Better tights, currently they are more comfortable than the snags!
I'm so happy I've found an alternative that doesn't think sexual fetish = edgy marketing 😊

What about tights that are thick (and sturdy, warm) but look translucent? For a tall girl, would take large in m&s?

luckylavender · 24/09/2022 11:49

I have tried all these but by far the best tights are from Asda. Trust me.

I recommend a rummage in TK Maxx. They often stock brands like Wolford and Falke which are excellent quality.
