Tights recommend

Please recommend some tights, last year I bought some at M&S and and they were awful, but I they kept falling down on the waist and thighs. I know many people complain if they dig in, but I don't care of they dig, just so long as they don't roll down or sag on the legs and crotch, I basically I want them to be spray on and not move.

And I don't like that snag website.

If you've found this page in search of tights that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best tights useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Another vote for Snag tights. I'm short and overweight so it's not easy finding tights that fit and stay up - Snag are the only tights I buy now.

venus7 · 19/09/2022 19:41

Heist.

Theworldisfullofgs · 19/09/2022 19:44

Boots tights are good.

sgtmajormum · 19/09/2022 19:50

Without question Snag tights are amazing!

Parentsofaprincess · 19/09/2022 19:52

Look on UK tights or tights tights tights.com for good quality and affordable tights. You could email them for advice too. Sainsbury's aren't too bad either.

I used to like M&S body shaper. Then they changed them so the body shaper bit is teeny tiny short like a hipster and the whole lot falls or rolls down giving both a saggy gusset and a muffin top. Fabulous look.

after ready this thread will try primark so thank you @Upwiththelark76 !

LoisLane23 · 19/09/2022 20:07

Sounds odd but after years of M&S I treated myself to a pair of tights in Whistles one year, they were in the sale in a basket by the till. Turned out to be magnificent, comfortable, soft, wash brilliantly and never tear or create chaffing or roll down, maybe they were about £12 or similar. Failing that I also totally rate wolford but the price tag is punchy!

cookiegardencat · 19/09/2022 20:09

I tried snag once and really didn't rate them. kept falling down. really didn't get the obsession.

if you are OK with a snug fit though I love the next shapewear ones.
I'm 5ft 8. they are long enough. stay put all day and wear really well. I've had a few pairs that I've worn on rotation all winter for at least a few years now and they still look and feel good. they are not cheap but they do last so worth it in my opinion

mumoftinyterrors · 19/09/2022 20:14

I bought new tights from M&S yesterday. Normally a medium but the length can sometimes be iffy so sized up thinking they’ll reach my boobs…. Not a chance. They’ve come up so small. Barely reached the top of my legs. And there’s no give in the fabric around my waist. What have they done to them?!? Been buying the body sensor ones for years without issue. Thankfully came across this page today. I’ll give the snag ones a try. Thanks ladies.

Stichintimesavesstapling · 19/09/2022 20:18

I used to love the m&s body shaping ones but last year I bought several pairs and the seams go across the end of your toes so pull into toes all day, it's agony. I ended up putting plasters over my toes to reduce it but even that didn't work. It's just a shame because apart from that they are fantastic.

purpleshortcake2021 · 19/09/2022 21:06

Another shout out for Heist here. I am a short apple shape and bought 3 pairs of their high waist ones a couple of years ago. All still on the go! It’s lovely not having them cut me in half. They sit nicely under my boobs!

Damsel · 19/09/2022 21:51

Falke tights, similar quality to Wolford, but I prefer them.

Badger1970 · 19/09/2022 22:01

I can't get the size right with Snag - they're ridiculously long in the body and legs for me, no matter what size I've tried. DD1 has now got all of mine!

I usually drift back to M & S but you have to get the better quality ones.

FlippertyGibberts · 19/09/2022 22:01

Snag tights bisect me in the middle, like a sausage.

I quite like M&S opaque body sensor 40 denier tights.

JaceLancs · 19/09/2022 22:04

I’m a huge falke fan too - especially if I find them in tkmaxx

Blueink · 20/09/2022 03:38

Falke or Hue

Geppili · 20/09/2022 04:32

Manzi tights from Amazon. Better than Snag.

Amanteani · 20/09/2022 07:17

I've been looking for Wolfords tights for months in TK Maxx, they've disappeared.

Craftycorvid · 20/09/2022 07:31

I have to join the Snag team. I’m short and curvy and these are the only tights not to leave me with the dilemma of ‘so do I end up with them large enough to wear the top bit as a vest in order for the legs to fit? Or wrestle into ones designed for pipe cleaner legs in order to get a small enough waist? I do also rate Boots own brand tights as pretty good close seconds, though not much colour or style variety. Great for basic black.

StarlightLady · 20/09/2022 07:50

I know what you said about M&S but try different approach.

M&S Autograph. Go for the seam-free, the top is knitted like a tube and they have a “proper” sized cotton gusset. The secret is to wear them without knickers and the top then adheres to the body. It may feel strange at first but it is also more comfy than the double layering, no bunching. Sister and l have been doing this for years.

Quitelikeacatslife · 20/09/2022 08:10

Depends on your body shape . I'm fat so snag are an absolute blessing nothing else fits so comfortably (but I don't go round in their knee socks and waist slashed bikinis with my arse out Confused)
I get school tights and super fun tights for my petite size 8/10 teenager from there too. They really last

GlomOfNit · 20/09/2022 08:47

YABU to avoid Snag just because of their hyperwoke website/advertising/fetishistic swimwear/obsession with championing morbid obesity. Because the tights are FAB. M&S used to be reliable in the underwear department, at least. Now there's no standardisation across their range at all (school uniform there has been like this for years and years) and you just can't rely on tights fitting, even a size larger.

Snag do great opaques in basics and fun colours, their capris and footless are great and so durable, and their woollen tights are what I live in over winter, with dresses. Maybe not as great quality as Wolford woollen tights but then I tend not to have the spare £50+ to drop on a single pair of those.

I've picked up the odd pair of Wolford and Falke new-in-packaging tights off eBay but obviously what you're looking for won't come along every day.

I just remembered that I also live in White Stuff cotton tights - the thick ones. Maybe not what you like but I wear them with pinafore dresses and DMs because I'm a refugee from the 90s and they're also durable and nice and warm in winter. Also pleasing colours.

ArtOfTheImpossible · 20/09/2022 09:05

I've almost always bought mine from a tank in my local Boots, where they have socks and tights. Good quality, don't get a lot of holes, and I've never had a pair fall down. Also a reasonable budget price.

ArtOfTheImpossible · 20/09/2022 09:07

*rack not tank!

Parentsofaprincess · 20/09/2022 11:13

A friend of mine swears by boots tights and hold up stockings. Good leg length apparently. Tights stay up and hold up sit nice and high on the thigh.
