skittlesrainbows · 01/09/2022 19:51

I want some warm comfy boots for colder weather ahead.

What do you think of Uggs?

Are they still a big No no?? a waste of money?.. or are similar looking cheaper versions just as good.

Recommendations please!

No.

I was never a fan but I had a pair from fatface which I wore a lot in 2020 and I have to say, I was converted. I think we’ll
see more of them this winter if people are reaching for stuff that’s nice and warm. Having said that I also love DMs.

AnyFucker · 01/09/2022 20:06

I will wear mine from a few years ago that are still in good nick just around the house when it is cold.

Swearwolf · 01/09/2022 20:06

I had some ugg Chelsea boots that I loved so much I bought them again. They are still all fluffy inside and feel like wearing slippers, but the outsides are leather so they look like normal boots and are waterproof too.

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 01/09/2022 20:06

I love them, i don't care what anyone else thinks haha, they are like a warm hug for your feet. I desperately want a new pair but can't afford any at the moment

acuteanxiety · 01/09/2022 20:06

Yes
I got them in December love them

Mintyt · 01/09/2022 20:07

I am on my 2nd pair and l love them, warm, or cool ! Cosy too. But I won't wear mine in the rain as don't want to ruin them

Onlyhereforchaletschool · 01/09/2022 20:07

Yes especially if you’re wfh, they got me through the Jan lockdown

You've just sorted my DHs Xmas pressie for me! His office is freezing in winter even when the heating is on - Ugg slippers or shorties here we come!

kimchifox · 01/09/2022 20:10

I say office. Its the size of a store cupboard. Or maybe a middling pantry.

skittlesrainbows · 01/09/2022 20:12

My office gets so cold in winter.. I definitely need something cosy and warm for my feet!

I love them, don't care if they are stylish or not! Didn't have any last year and it made me sad (got some leather boots with fur in and they never looked as nice and were really uncomfortable! I have a lovely new pair for my birthday all ready to go, they are grey with a metallic patch on the back, looking forward to wearing them!

Noonoo88 · 01/09/2022 20:17

I would never have forked out for them myself, but I got bought a pair by family for Christmas about ten years ago and they're still going!! The outside of them look a bit rough, but that's because I committed the cardinal sin of wearing them in the rain... several times 😳 but they're still perfectly functional and my god are they comfy and warm. Not tried other brands to compare so can't comment there unfortunately, can only sing the praises of my beloved Uggs!

Pua · 01/09/2022 20:18

I’ve always had a thing for Ugg’s and also found they keep you incredibly warm when wfh. I’m yet to find an imitation pair that are good quality

marmiteloversunite · 01/09/2022 20:22

Love my shortie Uggs. Comfy, warm and easy to slip on if going outside to the bins.

Applebark · 01/09/2022 20:22

Especially for wfh. No-one will ever see them leave the house. Mine have been wonderful over the past 6 years.

MissDollyMix · 01/09/2022 20:23

I know they’re not stylish and I last had a pair circa 2006 but I’m seriously contemplating buying a pair to wear around the house this winter to combat turning the heating down. I bought myself some ugh slippers about 18 months ago and they’ve been amazing. Outlasted any other pair of slippers I’ve had by miles but they’re really starting to fall apart now hence why I’m justifying buying some ugh boots to replace them.

ProseccoStorm · 01/09/2022 20:23

Fine for in the house, warm and very comfortable.

Not fine for out of the house

MissDollyMix · 01/09/2022 20:29

I’m contemplating purchasing these as they’re a bit cheaper than Uggs. Would be interested to know if anyone has any experience with them. My mother and MIL love this brand so I’m wondering if I’m becoming very middle aged… www.houseofbruar.com/ladies-sheepskin-boot-brown/?locale=gbp&istCompanyId=facab9df-87a0-4360-a00c-69f8b6f60974&istFeedId=e1385490-e58f-4fe4-b510-6708df5ec276&istItemId=wlxxiaama&istBid=t&src=webshp&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-ZbQyan0-QIVjgwGAB1w8gM6EAQYEyABEgLmWfD_BwE

DariaMorgendorffer · 01/09/2022 20:30

If its warm and comfy you're looking for, they fit the brief 100%

skittlesrainbows · 01/09/2022 20:57

I'm quite surprised. I really thought it would be mainly 'No's' !
But it still seems they are confined to the house ..
would anyone actually wear them in public (on a dry day 😂)?

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 01/09/2022 21:02

I wear mine now and then when it's freezing and I'm popping to the shops or taking my son in the pram. I don't really care about always being "on trend" - I wouldn't wear them for a nice lunch obviously but they are practical and warm for day to day

dudsville · 01/09/2022 21:06

I'm sure there are a lot of good dupes out there, but I have a pair of their suede house shoe boot things, the ones that are often deemed horrific. They're about 7 years old but are only worn indoors and while they don't look great they are very warm. I then have two pairs of leather zipped ankle boots of theirs, also fleece lined and they are outdoor shoes and can cope with rain. They're 6 years old and still look good even though i stick them in the washing machine at the end of each winter!

Ugg do a range of other outdoor shoes, and i bought some heeled ankle boots, but my god are they heavy. They never get worn!

isitaline97 · 01/09/2022 21:08

I used to love my Uggs, probably dig them out again for the winter. Don't get what's so shameful about wearing them out of the house? Who cares that much about what is on someone else's feet!🤦‍♀️😂

Watchthesunrise · 01/09/2022 21:48

Yes! But only in private
