The Oodie

Not sure if this is the correct section as it's not very stylish Grin. Is The Oodie worth the money at 2for £84? I'm hoping if it's decent I won't have to have the heating on as much.

I ordered The Comfy from Costco as they don’t have them in the warehouse yet, it’s so lush!!

Thanks! Oh well...

Any one know of one suitable for young kids? Looks like mine would drown in an oodie!

I'm also interested in knowing which one would suit young children

Thestoppedfan · 01/09/2022 10:29

Oodie do smaller kids sized ones too

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/09/2022 13:37

Thanks everyone! I know it's not going to do a lot for the heating but I'm quite a 'nesh' person and DH isn't so it will help

I have the cheapo Primark knock off one. Gosh it is so soft I think I'm going to love it.

The only issue I have is that I hate when I have to pull things on and off over my head. Odd as F I know, but I prefer zipped things. Anyway I'll be using it on very cold days/nights at home and suffer the pull on, pull off stuff. I have little to worry about really don't I!

byvirtue · 01/09/2022 14:03

I bought the sienna one from Amazon last year. Best £15 I’ve spent (slightly cheaper atm too) I would never leave the house in mine so cheap and cheerful did the job.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/09/2022 14:06

@byvirtue if the Amazon one is that good I will get that £15 is much cheaper than £50!

OP posts:
byvirtue · 01/09/2022 14:27

@teaandtoastwithmarmite yeah I’m not convinced the oodie is 3 times the price better. The Sienna is cheap and cheerful and keeps you warm. is it the best quality? no, but if I’m going to basically wear a cosy polyester blanket it did the job perfectly!

Forpoxsake · 01/09/2022 16:59

Primark had kids size snuddies today
got my tall 7 year old a l/xl and it’s huge.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/09/2022 17:44

So the kuddly is 2 for £79. Not sure if they would be better quality than the Amazon. The Amazon reviews say they're difficult to wash and dry? DD will definitely want one if I get one lol

OP posts:
sparklecement · 01/09/2022 18:13

Kuddly are 4 for £109 at the moment. There will be deals on Black Friday.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/09/2022 18:54

Yes but my only worry is that everyone will go mad and they won't have any left. Don't want to buy 4 but that is a good deal

But they are sooooo hideous! I don't think I could bring myself to wear one tbh

TeaAndBiscuitsAndWine · 01/09/2022 19:19

Are these various versions warmer than just layering, say, a couple of cashmere jumpers? Easier to wash and dry, but I worry that polyester makes one hot and sweaty at skin level but doesn’t properly keep one comfortably warm (if that makes sense). The posh charity shops near my mum are apparently full of cheap cashmere jumpers and she’s offered to get us all some, and now I don’t know what to do!

They aren’t streetwear - you basically wear them when you might previously have worn a blanket.

Also, people are wearing them because they are terrified of the bills they might otherwise have to pay. I’m glad for you that you can afford as much heating as you like - many other people aren’t in the same position.

I found mine to be very warm last winter. Having said that, if I had the option of cheap cashmere, I’d wear a t-shirt / undershirt (possibly thermal), then the cashmere jumper then the oodie / equivalent over the top.

BrownTableMat · 01/09/2022 19:46

I’ve just bought a kuddly. It’s very soft and seems very warm but obviously it’s still untested!

I really bought it to wear when my cheap Amazon one is in the wash though, as I love that one and lived in it last winter, and I love that it comes to my ankles. Washes and dries very well. I have it in grey but it seems it’s only available in pink at present. Can’t recommend it enough, and it’s only £24.99:

www.amazon.co.uk/Oversized-Blanket-Wearable-Sweatshirt-Flannel/dp/B09PKPGWJY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2HVRSRFN3J120&keywords=smart+hoodie&qid=1662057813&sprefix=kmart+hoodie%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-3

The kuddly is a lot shorter though I think it’s also thicker and a bit wider and is patterned with cute koala bears which tbh is the main reason I got it. I still think my cheapo one will get more wear this winter, though.

mac1974 · 01/09/2022 19:47

I love my oodie. The best £50ish I've ever spent

For the person asking about the £5 shop oodies, I think it's hit and miss what brand you get. I read of some people getting primark ones, some getting kuddly ones. I think the website was everything5pound

Paddingtonthebear · 01/09/2022 19:52

Ordered the Sienna from Amazon and it arrived this week. Looks fine for £12 but I was covered in stray fluff just from trying it on. So I expect it will shed a lot. DD has a Disney one from Primark which is thicker / better quality but cost a bit more at the time.

blibblibs · 01/09/2022 19:57

We each have two of the Sienna ones from Amazon.
Amazing things, but buy now as the price goes up when it get cold!

Beetr00t · 01/09/2022 20:52

Hi OP, we have Oodies and Sienna's (amazon). The Oodie is thicker and better quality/slightly softer, but the Sienna is perfectly fine too.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/09/2022 20:58

Thanks all I'm edging towards the kuddly. I also like the koala design lol. No they're not very attractive but no one will really see me wearing it. My DH isn't keen but he's always moaning about me having the heating on

lurchermummy · 01/09/2022 22:11

@Talia99 no I totally get that - it's just that are they really any better than just putting an extra hoodie or jumper on?

I think it's because they're large and fluffy they are more comfortable and less constricting than extra jumpers.
