Anyone fancy a good old-fashioned 100 day princessing thread??

i haven’t seen one of these in a while and I need it!!!

I’ve been a bit of a mess since lockdown. Overweight, drinking too much, house a bit of a mess, sleep patterns gone out the window, not much exercise (I do walk the dog but he’s older so it’s more of a gentle stroll).

I want to feel like me again and I like a deadline.

In 103 days it’s 28th November, which is pretty much the start of Christmas. We also have a Center Parcs holiday booked.
Now if you’re Irish (like me), Christmas starts on 25th November (The Late Late Toy Show) so it’s actually 100 days today!

In the past, people would come up with a list of 10? things they want to focus on over the 100 days. I think In the early challenges there used to be 1 list but later ones were more individual with everyone having their own list.

My basics are

  1. 7.5 hours sleep a night (I never seem to get to 8)
  2. 2L water a day
  3. 16:8 fasting
  4. Shower, teeth & wash face daily.
  5. Start back with TOMM cleaning schedule
  6. use Lumea hair removal weekly
  7. deep clean every room
  8. figure out how to deal with my wavy hair
  9. get my eyebrows done
  10. exercise, even just for 10 minutes, everyday.
I might tweak some of these but it’s a starting point.

so anyone else in??

Have been doing well with my current 4 goals (diet related) - lost 1kg in 10 days. Aiming for a healthy BMI by Christmas - 10kg to go!

It's inspiring to read everyone's lists.

vjg13 · 27/08/2022 07:55

I've been derailed this week by a IBS attack so just getting through each day can be enough. Not had it like this for years and that time it lasted for weeks. I'm mainlining Buscopan!

@FiveShelties Doing something fun each week is a great suggestion.

LBB2020 · 27/08/2022 09:12

This week hasn’t been the best start and now we’re away for the weekend!
I have had a little pamper session and exfoliated, shaved, moisturised and painted my toe nails. Food hasn’t been the best and the only exercise I’ve had is walking.
Will try to drink more water and keep getting my steps in then knuckle down once we’re home

May I join in too please? I am 66 today so will start on Monday. Cannot believe I am 66, who stole the last 25 years?!

From Monday I have 61 days until I fly back to UK to see my Mum for a month and I plan to be much improved by then.

I am going to work out what my priorities are and will list them later today.

Happy birthday!💐🥂

RaininginDarling · 27/08/2022 10:39

@vvjg13 I have Crohn's so you have my utmost sympathies. Hope you feel better soon.

RaininginDarling · 27/08/2022 10:47

Well, I haven't got off to the best start, diet or exercise-wise! 😆I have a frozen shoulder and the most basic yoga is proving challenging. I'm also isolating ahead of a trip abroad (where I need to take a covid test to gain entry) so I've parked the swimming until I get back. I did sort through clothes and Ebayed a bunch of things Ive fallen out of love with. Drinking lots of water! That's helping immensely.

fallfallfall · 27/08/2022 15:38

@RaininginDarling i turned 65 earlier in the week and need to up my personal care regime.
on day 6 of nail care while camping in the rain….
only doing my hands this week, strengthener every two days, today. Cuticle oil twice a day, that’s peaceful. So far an easy plan.
two hangnails and no clippers…

Riseabove · 27/08/2022 15:45

Will reread and add my list later. I do need this!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2022 16:28

I've bought/ordered some of the M&S nightcream (Formula Prevent and Brighten) mainly for my neck .
I have used the Ultimate Sleep Cream before which was nice but this is new so I thought give it a go and 15% skincare on my Sparks Card

Petmurf · 27/08/2022 17:07

Happy Birthday 🥳

Day 6

No alcohol
ridden horse twice and going again tonight
bed early every night
day and night skincare going well
no gluten
drinking lots of herbal teas and water and much less coffee

I’m also on day 4 of no vaping which is going OK so far 🤞

So after 7 days it’s going well.

Average of 8.5 hours sleep a night
No alcohol
Plenty of water and herbal teas
Less coffee and that’s decaff anyway
Horse ridden 3 times this week
On day 5 of no vaping which wasn’t on my original list but something I wanted to do and felt strong enough
Skincare AM and PM
16:8 every day
No gluten

Feeling good about myself now

FiveShelties · 27/08/2022 23:12

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Out tonight for dinner with friends and then back here for coffee/wine and birthday cake. Hope everyone has huge slices and it will be gone by tomorrow.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2022 10:25

I have some Liz Earle hair mask on and a turban-wrap .
It smells lovely Grin

I ned to get my hair cut , it;s getting to the point where it pulls my scalp and I'm noticing more hair loss (menopausal )

LilianLenton · 28/08/2022 11:02

I know I'm a bit late to the thread, but I'm in.
My 10 things will be:

Lose some weight - not sure how much, I don't want to set a specific goal, just get to a better weight than I am now.
Increase exercise. Can't afford the gym & can't run due to chronic pain, will be walking, do workouts etc on YouTube.
Skincare routine twice a day including SPF50 - especially important at present as I'm on roaccutane. I got slightly sunburnt on a cloudy day last week!
Haircare including moisturising masks, scalp oil etc at least once a week. Scalp feels so dry at the moment but this is something I usually do anyway.
Sort out the house a bit - we moved after the pandemic started & it's been really hard to get motivated to get everything sorted out. Still there are bits of the house where there are boxes of stuff to sort.
I used to moisturise my hands, nails etc every night before bed, I've totally got out of the habit & need to start it up again.
Increase water intake. I don't drink alcohol or caffeine, & rarely drink anything sweet, so basically, drink more.
Eat some vegetables or fruit with every meal. Including breakfast.
Generally, reduce my carbs & fats, & make healthier choices when I do decide to have a meal that has more carbs or fats in.
Make more effort to get enough sleep. I go through periods of insomnia, it's been happening for about 3 years. I take 5htp & valerian which gets me through the worst of it. But in between I need to ensure I'm as rested as possible.

I really struggle with motivation when DD & DH are home - he works in a school so they're both underfoot, making a mess all summer. I wouldn't change them but sometimes I would love a pause button for a few hours.

LilianLenton · 28/08/2022 11:11

Several years ago I bought this mini manicure set from TK Maxx, it's honestly been so useful. I've never used the cuticle pusher but the other bits have been used loads, I actually managed to get a tiny pair of clippers to fit into the case too, it's a bit of a squeeze but would probably be easier without the cuticle stick. The case lives permanently in my bag.

RaininginDarling · 28/08/2022 11:13

Anybody know where I can get a reasonably priced silk pillowcase? I hear they're good for face and hair.

threadneedle · 28/08/2022 12:13

Checking in, I had 5 goals for the week and managed to get most of them in, most days. Thursday was a bit of a blip, but I just started again on Friday. I bought the Streaks app for my phone and put my goals in. I think it has actually kept me on track, the constant reminder is good for me, especially for drinking water. I've had 'drink more water' on my to do list every week/month/year for as long as I can remember but I actually did it this week and if I can keep it up it will be a huge win. I'm aiming for 5 glasses a day which is achievable, 2 litres is not realistic for me.

I had to pay for the app but I think it was a good investment, I'm sure there are free ones out there. I'd definitely recommend one if you are a procrastinator like me!

I've had a healthy diet - porridge, soup, protein and veggies, nuts and fruit for snacks, 6 days out of 7 so really happy with that.

I have done my makeup, worn a nice outfit and earrings every day, even when I haven't been going anywhere. This makes a big difference to how I feel when I catch sight of myself when I pass a mirror.

The two I struggled a bit with were a walk every day, and reading at night. I managed 4 out of 7, so I'll aim for better this week.

Small manageable chunks is definitely the way to go for me, a long list of goals is too overwhelming. Once I'm doing my current 5 consistently I'll add in a few more.

Best of luck to everyone this week!

Communionmom · 28/08/2022 18:37

And I'm back! I'm feeling much better (putting a load of washing in the washing machine doesn't make me feel like passing out!)

Thank you all for the well wishes. My DDs went on a sleepover with PIL so I took the days to sit on the couch and watch Greys Anatomy. I've been doing the bare minimum (shower & teeth & no alcohol)

My DD are back in school tomorrow and a return to routine so we'll see how we go.

3rd attempt to check in. Was doing really well till yesterday when we had a family emergency and I don't even have my prescription meds with me, nevermind vitamins. Sleep has been poor, food based around bread.
Have done lots of cleaning and scrubbing to keep busy so that's something right?

MontalbanoFan · 29/08/2022 14:37

@RaininginDarling

Silk pillowcases can be quite expensive, unfortunately. I’ve bought them at John Lewis in the past but I had to take out a small mortgage 😉.

Jasmine Silk sometimes has special offers. I don’t know about the quality though.

Do try and get at least one for yourself, in any case. I really believe they have a beneficial effect on skin and hair.

fallfallfall · 29/08/2022 15:16

@LilianLenton i picked up an inexpensive motivational water bottle that has the time on the side. I’ll post a link it’s been a game changer for my dh and myself.
cuticle sticks I’ve picked up one with a rubber tip, totally gentle soft and thin enough edge to get in the corners, I love it.
@RaininginDarling my 89 yr old mom who takes amazing care of herself swears by silk pillow cases. She also moisturized her hands at night and wears gloves but I’m not there yet…
1 week and my nails have not chipped split or been damaged.
today I will remove the multiple layer of strengthener ( day 1 two coats, followed by 1 coat on days 3 and 5). File? Not sure it’s needed and start the process again. The twice daily cuticle oil is easy. Although I’m not keen on the oil itself I’ll look into other brands once this bottle is done.

MontalbanoFan · 29/08/2022 15:16

Just had a look at the Jasmine Silk website. Silk pillowcases with a cotton underside are their cheapest line. From £15 each. They seem okay.

Butterflysize · 29/08/2022 15:19

I’ve had a silk pillowcase but it didn’t wash well at all, made me a bit sweaty too so binned it

thelastgreatdynasty · 29/08/2022 21:25

Well done on those of you who are nailing it. I have written off the long weekend. I'll start again tomorrow.
