Anyone fancy a good old-fashioned 100 day princessing thread??

i haven’t seen one of these in a while and I need it!!!

I’ve been a bit of a mess since lockdown. Overweight, drinking too much, house a bit of a mess, sleep patterns gone out the window, not much exercise (I do walk the dog but he’s older so it’s more of a gentle stroll).

I want to feel like me again and I like a deadline.

In 103 days it’s 28th November, which is pretty much the start of Christmas. We also have a Center Parcs holiday booked.
Now if you’re Irish (like me), Christmas starts on 25th November (The Late Late Toy Show) so it’s actually 100 days today!

In the past, people would come up with a list of 10? things they want to focus on over the 100 days. I think In the early challenges there used to be 1 list but later ones were more individual with everyone having their own list.

My basics are

  1. 7.5 hours sleep a night (I never seem to get to 8)
  2. 2L water a day
  3. 16:8 fasting
  4. Shower, teeth & wash face daily.
  5. Start back with TOMM cleaning schedule
  6. use Lumea hair removal weekly
  7. deep clean every room
  8. figure out how to deal with my wavy hair
  9. get my eyebrows done
  10. exercise, even just for 10 minutes, everyday.
I might tweak some of these but it’s a starting point.

so anyone else in??

Back in . Time to think about the 2 summer weddings I have to attend . Want to feel well groomed and well dressed .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/01/2023 13:14

Phillip Lingsley Elasticiser on.

I have a break in Feb with DH (few days, no sunbathing will be involved )
And main holiday not till October so plenty of time ( in denial here )

I haven't used my ItalianKorean scrub cloths for a while as they really need to be post bath . I'm using the excuse of expense of running a bath rather than the fact that I simply CBA lieing in a hot, plain water bath for 30 minutes to go mascerated and prunelike before the buffing .

I need to do a leg+pit wax (I use Nads sugaring kit) but that can wait till next week .

Iwasntgettingasandwich · 28/01/2023 14:54

Elasticiser is so good. I had a sample tube of it ladt year but only used it recently for some reason. It's great! My hair just feels springier after using it.

I have also moisturised my body about three times this week, a new PB!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/01/2023 17:03

Elasticiser is so good

It is Grin

I think a lot of people are put off thinking its a faff but I damp my hair , apply , put on a turbie towel and waft about for an hour in it
It does give better results after a few application.
And Phillip Kingsley is (or rather was because he;s deceased now ) a Trichologist not a hairdresser or some celebrity with an idea .of oh lets use my fame to sell xyz

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 28/01/2023 17:05

I've tried Elasticizer in the past and it had no effect on my hair at all. I may try PK Bond Builder though, has anyone had any success with it?

Not tried it but have a look on QVC , they have a 3xEasy Pay + Free P&P at the moment . Price was 1 litre Elasticiser on there is much better than elsewhere ( I don;r need a litre with my hair though !)

I'm not a fan of PK shampoo /conditioner and I really didn't like the 5-in-1 (got a bundle/kit )

Amazing, thanks @70isaLimitNotaTarget !

Just popping in to give myself a nudge really.

I seem to have a bit of new 'stubble' growing around my hairline from the Regaine, So hopefully will see a bit of progress with that over the next few months. I've seen people mention initial hairloss with it, but when washing my hair, there is no hairs to pick up from the drain catcher which is something! Usually there is a fine wispy little fur ball to throw away.

I second PK Elasticizer, transforms my hair, but so expensive. Some use K18 but I cant bring myself to try it for the cost. The elasticizer is on my to buy list again though, my holy grail hair product,

I have a hairdressing voucher to use, but I'm waiting a bit closer to holiday so I can figure out what I want to do.

The other problem is money, looking put together costs so much, nd I'm focusing on a mortgage deposit the next few years so any advice on things like eyelash extensions, nails etc done at home cheaply but not rubbish would be welsome.

I was trying to focus on diet, but the more I focus on healthy eating the more I want to eat! Going to have to figure out some exercises to help combat that.

Minnie123456 · 29/01/2023 10:39

Not a bad start, have been taking my vitamins everyday and folllowing a simple skincare routine- literally cleasne and moisturise lol. Have been using handcream and moisturising after most showers. Bought a Garnier ultimate blends hair mask so need to start using that although I would like to try the Philip Kingsley one.

Healthy eating, more sleep and water haven't been going so well.

LBB2020 · 29/01/2023 10:50

Morning,
I've taken multivitamins and iron every day for the past week, did a 15 minute pilates YouTube video during the week and currently chilling with a face mask on! Planning on going for a walk once I’m ready so that’s better than just slobbing around all day. The week I’d like to add in a gym session as well as a YouTube video and also need to start thinking about my diet and drinking more water

There's loads on eBay , probably from Beauty Advent Calendars .

I got a gift pack from M&S but of course they don;t have them now !

ChiaraMontague · 31/01/2023 12:15

I'm going to divide the next 100 (well, 99 days now) into three.
For the first month I'm going to focus on the lifestyle changes - sleep, hydration, food and exercise - and a couple of small other things (like exfoliating and moisturising; and keeping nails groomed) and then next month I'll focus more on the grooming etc once I've got the basics sorted.

Iamatissuebox · 05/02/2023 19:14

Just come back from holiday with a new and reinvigorated attempt at self care - so joining!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/02/2023 22:08

I am still not eating chocolate (since May last year I only broke the fast for Christmas Eve/Christmas Day ) considering I've been a chocolate lover for most of my years I think I;ve done well . Next time to hop off the wagon maybe Valentines Day ?

I have plans to use some of my stash of serums and face masks this week (I have some hoiday booked ) relax and think about my list .

Minnie123456 · 05/02/2023 23:00

@70isaLimitNotaTarget well done on not eating chocolate from May, I definately wouldn't have the willpower.

Used my hair mask tonight for the first time, my hair smells lovely, I'm thinking once a week should maybe be enough. I also bought the Phillip Kingsley one but haven't used it yet.

I've been using handcream everyday but not really seeing a difference. My hands look old and i'm only in my 30's. Anyone any recommendations? I'm thinking I might need an anti aging one.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/02/2023 00:02

I used an overnight face mask , yes it was like sleeping in lard but my skin feels lovely and plumped !

I've ordered some purple shampoo/conditioner , my hair is going very grey but I am steadfastly resisting hairdye because it took ages for me to grow/cut it out and I really CBA commiting time and money to going back down that road again.

I did a fair bit of walking last week managed to clock up the 20,000 steps on some days so feeling pretty good .

I need to wax my top lip , in a very unflattering mirror I had a touch of the Midge Ure going on (not a look I want to emulate being a 56yo woman Shock )

PartingGift · 12/02/2023 10:43

Good idea. To start with, my list is going to focus on the basics on sorting out my life in general. Everything has gone a bit on top of me recently and I don't think Princesses live in places that look like mine currently does 😳🤣.

So my starting ten goals are:

  1. Deep clean bedroom.
  2. Declutter makeup.
  3. Go through skincare and put a little basket with stuff in by my bed and sofa to remind me to actually put it on my face in the evening.
  4. Sort through clothes, starting with pants, socks and bras for now.
  5. Book overdue smear test.
  6. Actually take the bags which have been sat in my car since before Christmas to the charity shop
  7. Clear rest of stuff out of car and take it to the car wash.
  8. Deep clean kitchen.
  9. Ditto living room.
10. Ditto bathroom.
ForestLilac · 12/02/2023 11:53

When do I join in if I want to do this? I think I posted at the very beginning but then didn’t follow through.

Do I start now or are you doing a big ‘start in a fortnight’ thread?

PartingGift · 12/02/2023 14:24

@ForestLilac

The concept of princessing has been around on mumsnet since 2011, here's the OG thread:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/1156122-Project-Princess?page=1

You can follow other people's lists, or make your own.

Personally I am aiming to have my 10 points done in the next 1 - 2 weeks, as it will (hopefully) motivate me to carry on. I'll make a new list when I've done all the points on my first one. If I try to change too much too quick I'll get overwhelmed and give up.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/02/2023 14:49

They do say (though I don't know who "they" are ) if you do something every day for 21 Days it becomes a habit .

I know with my original ones there were some I haven't achieved ( I think fake tan and wear make-up )
Fake tan is literallly just a spray or a few drops in moisturiser so it should be a doddle ?
Make-up I'm meh with , I don't wear it to work .

I have achieved things like wear more from my wardrobe and coupled with the No Buy/Low Buy , I've stopped (hopefully) any impulse buys or things that won't get worn .

I don't drink an I;ve never smoked .
I drink loads of water
Bought a sonic toothbrush last year instead of a standard one
I've managed to cut out chocolate

My hair is slowing recovering from loss last year after illness so I'm working on the condition, no dye , I;m done with all that . I'm happy with the cut ,

Coffee you would need tp prise from my cold dead hands Wink

I'm going to think of one/two new easy to achieve add ons for the next couple of weeks , then I'll start the 100 day countdown to my birthday -not a Big Birthday , just Another Year Older .

TerrysAllGoldGlisters · 12/02/2023 15:11

I started a couple of weeks ago, have made progress in some areas but others less so 😬. Hair done, grey is now gone and I booked my next appointment while I was there in order to keep on top of it. Oh and I got some Bond Builder in TK Maxx at a reduced price 🙂. Im back in the cycle of tinting my eyebrows, and de-fuzzing regularly. I'm eating more healthily but haven't lost any weight so I need to put more effort in there. Hopefully the lighter nights will encourage me to get out and exercise more!

ForestLilac · 12/02/2023 15:47

Ok. I’ve set a countdown for 100 days which takes me to 24 May.

And now I make a list of stuff I want to achieve by then? Or just a short list to get started on without overwhelming myself?

Is it only health/beauty/appearance related? Can I add other stuff like house related things?
